I used to use limewire for just getting single mp3s that were not released yet on an album, but since youtube get has been around i just use that now and then get the full albums off torrent or rapidshare when they finally evolve, cough cough busta rhymes blessed keeps getting put back grr. Alot of my friends have been done by the mpa for using limewire with hefty fines so i would be careful if i was you

Limewire has its uses, but I got fed up with the amount of fake/junk files that cropped up in any search I ever made with it. While the app itself may be adware/spyware free, the amount of fake trojan files on it is just stupid.
Nice release, but I think I’ll stick with RS & torrents for now.

Limewire is the king when it comes to ease of use and getting exactly what you want, and is a lot faster/easier to use than torrents or usenet. Good luck even trying to download a song on usenet it takes an hour just to find it in the list of 504,954 crappy songs.

As far as speeds and reliability goes it has to go:
1. Usenet
2. Private Trackers
3. Rapidshare/megaupload
4. Limewire/etc
I put private trackers ahead of rapidshare simply because i dont have to pay for already free things, I can’t really get my head around paying for free content, but hey whatever : D

Rapidshare premium offers 100% max speed (on DSL 16k connection at least). That puts it ahead of all p2p networks for me. Also everything is available and you don’t run into fake files +no risk of being caught since you don’t upload yourself. Imho the fee is negligible - ~5 bucks a month (and even less if you just share it with some friends). Totally worth the incredible comfort for me.
Never checked out usenet but don’t you have to pay there too? Can’t imagine what it could do better than RS.

The person above me(36) is absolutely right. Bearshare V6 is the program to USE to download free music straight from the artist’s album(its just like itunes but free). I wouldnt agree with downloading movies cause you can use torrenting for that especially AxxO.

The fact this has some sort of inbuilt Proxy would that not help protect you from RIAA?
The last I used this was years and years ago and even then it was just to try as I decided to stick with Winmx (yes this going back awhile)
Emule/Kazaa/Bearshare/Sharezea/iMesh/ I thought all of these had pretty much been killed of with the emergence of Torrents.

Programs such as Kazaa/Limewire or anything that runs off those networks offers no security, the best thing you can do when using programs like these is use Peerguardian which you should use anyways but it’s the only form of security you can use when using these programs.
The best way to use Peerguardian is to use the blocklists from Bluetack, You shouble enable all the blocklists except the Education ranges b/c 90% of uploaders are in a college network.

I use Limewire on every computer I hook up, no problems anywhere. If you’re gonna blindly bash something at least offer up better alternatives with examples, if not whatever continue bashing I personally find it funny as ish.
I used limewire years ago, then started using torrents. Just recently I started using limewire again, and my downloads are much faster, even for movies. Usually around 325Kbs. Hardly ever get that with BitComet. And you can now download torrents with limewire. Just make sure you bitzi it first or compare your file with a file in here first. Everything will be ok. Then scan it with Nod32.
Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t a “torrent” a file, and LimeWire can download a “torrent” file?
