Releaselog

LimeWire Pro v4.14.8 * Retail-CRD

Well I’m pretty sure Limewire needs no explanation, but the star in the title? Maybe it does. Well in this post I am listing the four different versions that have been released, for most platforms.

LimeWire is a software package which enables individuals to search for and share computer files with anyone on the internet. LimeWire is compatible with the Gnutella file-sharing protocol and can connect with anyone else running Gnutella-compatible software. At startup, the LimeWire program will connect, via the internet, to the LimeWire Gateway, a specialized intelligent Gnutella router, at startup to maximize the user’s viewable network space.LimeWire is a tool that allows you to share files over the internet. Further, the most recent version of Lime Wire enables Group functionality, so that users can connect to other people interested in sharing the same kinds of files that they are.

Program Features:

  • Bittorrent Support Built-In
Many ways to get files — all in one application!
  • Better Control Over Shared Folders
Revamped sharing options give you finer control over what goes onto the network.
  • System Tray Notifications
See when your downloads finish, no matter what app you’re in.
  • Mojito DHT (Distributed Hash Table) Support
Better locates those rare files and makes it easier to resume stalled downloads.
  • TLS (Transport Layer Security) Support
Keep your connections safe & secure.

this is cool, thanks for the post, but i dont like limewire… anyone know any good alternatives for Mac OS X?

i’m using Poisoned and it’s pretty good.. has more search results than on limewire since it connects to more networks..

i also use Transmission for torrents.. its nice and simple, but torrents seem to be slow.. any alternatives (apart from azureus)?

    thanks!

why would anyone download a pirated program if there is an opensource alternative which is _exactly_ the same as limewire (yes with all the feature of pro) available at http://www.frostwire.com . Unless you dislike the name :)

I useed to use Limewire a lot but since i got transmisson and the torrents i only use it for music or porn.

Transmission works fine and very fast for me and i can often use the full bandwith of my 10 Mbit Connection, which is about 1.2 MBit :D

why not just get the pro then you don’t have no problem its not the program that have malware advert it is what you download doooooh…. searching for porn all can cause that ;)

for torrents i use µTorrent it is in my eyes the best torrent prog out there because it it small takes minimum resources of you pc and it is easy to use

Limewire for random songs….. Torrent for albums……..
Limewire for porn clips….. Torrent for porm movies…

    August 27th, 2007 | 21:31

I totally agree with James. But after I read the comments I think I’m gonna give Frostwire a shot. Especially the computer resources that Limewire uses bothers me.
For torrents, uTorrent all the way.
Except lately I discovered usenet. It’s way faster than torrents, only torrents have more stuff and no retention or things like that. For usenet, AltBinz is for me the best free program.

Limewire is the scum of the internet, it is a virus safehaven and it is only good for single mp3’s thats it, even that is getting difficult due to fake files. as for porn clips visit http://www.ampland.com it is free and there is tons of porn clips what ever you fancy ;)

Do i need to uninstall other limewire programs to put this on?

  21. MrJack
    August 28th, 2007 | 11:19

    @riggers

Dude, you need to uninstall ALL of your Limewire programs in general, and so does everyone else, 70% of the Limewire network is virus ridden, as well as everything being shit quality in the first place.
    Stop being a fool.

    August 29th, 2007 | 11:28

Haha! I don’t have to worry about virus’ or malware or whatever since I’m running on a MAC!

Anyway, with Transmission – I can’t seem to get the speeds I want and used to on the same connection running Azureus from a PC – maybe it’s my router? I did configure it, however.

For Mac OSX, I found great alternatives:

Cabos – very fast, very simple, based on LimeWire and Acquisition but looks much better.
Acqlite – based on Cabos and those above, has similar interface to Acquisition and iTunes, but, for me – had slow connection speeds.
Poisoned – connects to a range of networks, will be VERY fast on a fast connection.

    That’s about it.

I’d reccomend Cabos – very versatile. Fast. Great. Find here: http://cabos.sourceforge.jp/

I checked, and CABOS is avaliable for WINDOWS too!

Not sure about the others – but most probably it’ll be the same!

Frostwire…spyware free?…damn thing installed ask toolbar even though I deselected it in the installtion…had to restore my computer to get rid of it…unistalling the ask toolbar did not get rid of it completely…so this program is definetly not spyware free!!!!
