Lil Scrappy - Prince Of The South (2008)

Enjoy one more music post from our Music competition, written by Mueller56.

This release is almost 2 days old now but it’s a much anticipated album in the whole rap genre so I just thought I’d post it anyway. C4 is again able to win the race for this release which is not surprising at the moment. Almost every major album is released by C4; don’t know how they do it but keep doing what you do :PAfter a first listen, I can definitely recommend this new CD.
Lil’ Scrappy’s third solo album is released in 2008 and it is a considered to be another classic. One of the many highlights of Prince Of The South is ’The A’. It’s a tribute to Lil’ Scrappy’s hometown of Atlanta. Lil’Scrappy released his debut CD entitled The King of Crunk & BME Recordings Present: Lil’ Scrappy in 2004. The album featured production by Lil’ Jon. The release was an instant classic; it sold over one million copies.

Crunk practitioner Lil Scrappy was born Darryl Richards in the ATL. Discovered by BME Recordings and Lil Jon, Scrap built his rep throughout the Southeast before breaking nationally in 2003 with the hit “Head Bussa.” A split EP with fellow BME artists Trillville followed in February 2004, spinning off the single “No Problem.” Crunk was never the same again. In 2006 the full-length Bred 2 Die Born 2 Live landed featuring the hit single “Money in the Back” with special guest Young Buck.

    @ Tank:

I don’t hate it, I’m just frickin’ tired of it. I can respect somebody who has talent, but I can’t stand these synthetic cRAPpers who think they’re good just because their producer told them so.

And I can’t stand when people don’t respect my right not to like something; I like all kinds of music from Betthoven to Barenaked Ladies, but I don’t like people who follow trends… this is a trend (a rather bad one), and I think that rap/hip-hop/r&b all need to get back to what it was about origionally - doing something because you want to, not because you’ve been told it’ll make you rich or famous.

Do what you want, not what you’re told.
That could help save the music industry… but they don’t listen either, so why should you?

hip hop is in a state of emergency.
this album is part of the problem.
this isnt hip hop. its hip pop.
and just cause its the most popular music in the country doesnt make it a good thing.
this kinda music destroys the true meaning of hip hop.

    hey jonnyBoy…

Rn’B hasn’t really changed for the bad… I believe hiphop & rap have gone totally rotten, but Rn’B is still Rn’B… They’re talking about relationships, love, and feel good/bad stuff… There are stories being told here with melodies. Rap / Hiphop on the other hand… The messages there are all played out… Who cares if you got $$$ and waste it on bullsh!t… Who cares if you got guns and “ain’t afraid to bust them”… lol… We’ve all heard about it b4 and don’t really care…

What ever happened to rappers with messages and stories… Like… Slick Rick, or NAS ???

This new stuff is just garbage!

  19. nlween
    May 10th, 2008 | 08:20

pffff another lousy rap album. the only reason that rap artists sell so much music is that the kind of people that listen to that crap are too dumb to figure out how to download it.

dumb listeners + ignorance in technology = high record sales

wtf is going on at rlslog?

I cant stand these postings of ret*rded rich black ret*rded d*uche bag rappers who look like there fking pimps.. seriously it’s fking childish.

“lil scarappy” looks like he sucks c*ck.

    May 10th, 2008 | 08:29

anybody with the name lil is garbage, lil scrappy, lil bow wow, lil wayne, hip hop is in a sad state, but so is rnb. ive been in the studio (no i didnt produce any of it) with beans, gangstarr and ghostface, and this is the kinda music that gives rap a bad name. its not just rap though, all music is in a down cycle, its because of american idol, making the band, etc, these shows build stereotype groups that follow an math problem that worked in the past. mainstream is for the sheep, this site is not, who ever posted this should automatically lose for there terrible taste.

  22. jonnyBoy
    May 10th, 2008 | 08:30

    @chickenbone -

I get that RnB isn’t total crap, but it’s on it’s way if what I heard tonight (went to a show, it had a mix of styles from death metal to RnB) from a local artist is what’s gonna hit the mainstream… anyways, RnB can still be saved from complete commercialism; but I fear that true hip-hop is long dead.

I just hope that these genres can be brought back for the better, even though I don’t really like the styles- I hate to see something go so south.

  23. Respect-My-Authority
    May 10th, 2008 | 08:37

Think I’m gonna have to take a break from rlslog too. All these music posts are really getting annoying. I come here to see movie releases, and read some tech news, and the occasional game, but I’ve seen practically nothing but about 20 CD posts. It wouldn’t be too bad if they were actually good CDs that people want to listen to, but they are awful. Don’t mean to offend anyone, I know some of you like it, but I just can’t stand some of the CDs that have been upped. Think I’m gonna take a 2-3 day break from rlslog and hopefully this competition is over.

what is with all the ads that slow the page load down?

and if that werent enough… dude… whats with all the music ESPECIALLY hip hop?

scene movies are one thing… but do we REALLY need to have all these posts because ‘johnny-to-much-time-on-hands’ got those hands on a record a few days before it hits the sales floor?

there are so many records release every day that this is ridiculous…

how about sticking to REAL news/software/movies…. and MAYBE those few REALLY anticipated albums that are worthy…. not every damn electronic hip hop rap album that soooooooo cool because its not mainstream (ie making money) and its the UNDERGROUND dude!

    DUDE!

@19: Dear chickenbone, Agree with you 100%
@20: Dear nlween, hahahaha, I’ve been sayin that to my friends for years, I see them doin that all the time at my job, gettin cds like its 1997 still lol

Lil scrappy IS his picture, need I say more??

P.S. Hip Hop IS dead, and has BEEN dead for yyyyears now, especially with all this country duuuurty south rap, they’re only a few good ones out there:

    Common
    Jay Z
    Jin
Nas … a few in my opinion

  28. how can i reach these kids
    May 10th, 2008 | 08:55

Lil Scrappy/Crappy and hip pop is what’s ruining hip hop and why so many immediately hate it. Hip Hop can be powerful and influential when properly used but 90% of mainstream hip hop is crap like this, 50 Cent etc. Even some gangster albums can be interesting like Ghostface, Ice-T, Nas but all of this other crap is a waste of time.

    May 10th, 2008 | 11:35

    I agree with 46.

You guys are wasting time posting about this junk - which if people want to download will do it anyway, its not like something they must have as soon as its released. Its also not like you need to be concerned with nukes or anything like that.

Its shameful to see that BSG STILL HASN’T BEEN POSTED ABOUT. I don’t get to watch it for 6 more months unless i download it, and i am relying on you guys to give me the info i need about the weekly tv releases, lest i download a dodgy one or one that needs to be nuked.

You guys are the rest of the worlds portal to American TV and movies. I doubt the rest of the world gives a rats about whoever that artist is when everyone wants to know whats gonna happen on the next episode of lost.

Stick to Movies, Games and TV. If you have time, then fine… post music and tech stuff, but stick to what made you good.

I think a decent post would be about the free album Nine Inch Nails have released for free called “The Slip”. If anyone wants it there are a whole heap of torrents on mininova and you can get it at http://www.nin.com/
PS: Its not an instrumental like Ghosts was

  50. Cuddles
    May 10th, 2008 | 11:38

I would like to add, that if you are going to post music, at least be diverse about it. I skipped back a few pages and the only genres you guys have posted about are Rap, Hip-Hop and R&B. It seems a bit to niche to be everyone’s go-to for releases.

  51. mueller56
    May 10th, 2008 | 11:41

    @all haters :P

I just wrote the first few lines of the text! The info about the album like “considered to be another classic” came from a REVIEW. I can’t tell you the source anymore but that doesn’t reflect my opinion!!
And I’m sick of all you suckers that say stop posting this new school sh**, because that is what most of the people listen to in today’s world!! I could also post all the Recycled_INT releases for 2pac… But they’re OLD. And rlslog’s slogan “hot info about new scene releases” is clearly stating that we only want NEW stuff here.

Also, you don’t complain about any horror movies posted even when you absolutely HATE horror!! You just skip the post!! So why don’t you f***kers skip this one two! If that’s what I get for posting a new scene release, I don’t even wanna win this competition! Everybody has got a different taste for music. And I bet the fewest of you even gave that CD a listen!

You cant’t say something is bad if you haven’t even tried it! Sure it can’t keep up with the old school stuff of 2pac etc. but that’s what hip hop has come to today!! So that’s what I’m gonna post!

And you should’ve seen how many people made a post about that CD in this competition. Mine got picked and now you all tell me this is a bad post?? Well then why don’t YOU make a post about a good old school CD?? Let’s see the comments on that: “WTF is this?? This is like 10 years old!!”
It’s good but old… If you’re all complaining about those releases in music, I don’t understand you’re general satisfaction with this competition!!

  52. mueller56
    May 10th, 2008 | 11:44

@all that think I’m not able to write in English: I don’t think there is ONE editor here that didn’t make any grammar errors in his/her posts yet!! And how said I’m a native speaker?? So go shut the fu** up and make a better post!

And again, at all haters here: IF YOU DON’T LIKE A RELEASE, THEN WHY DON’T YOU JUST SKIP IT????
I guess the lack of music posted here recently was a good thing after all…

Now let’s see how many more hater comments I’ll get…
I really do have better things to do than responding to you comments but I just can’t leave this unanswere. I mean, I post it because it’s NEW and you reply with “listen to some real hip hop”. How the fu** do you dare saying I don’t listen to old school music. I’m just not as uptight as many of you seem to be and also accept the new rap and hip hop releases that appear nowadays.

  53. mueller56
    May 10th, 2008 | 11:45

I think I said enough now for my defense^^
Now, let the haters speak again and let’s hear what they’re gonna seem to know about me this time…

Sorry for the swearing by the way, but this really got me going!

  54. Bill
    May 10th, 2008 | 11:49

How about posting good albums like NIN-The Slip as soemoen mentioned or Cog’s Sharing Space which was released a month ago..album of the year most definitely..did that got a mention? No! People that run this site need to get some taste in music.

  69. mueller56
    May 10th, 2008 | 12:44

@66 & 68: Read my comments, and then give me a real argument why I should be removed like 68 said or “die in a fire” like 66 did…. You’re all lame because you just write one sentence without any arguments in them. You got an idea what should be posted instead?? Are there any old school releases?? No, because OLD school is OLD, so there are no NEW scene releases (except for the INT ones) of OLD school.
All you haters out to die in a fire… Usually I don’t comment on lame comments like yours but this really gets me going… Most of you weren’t even born, when the real old school started, so you shouldn’t even be talking, and all you other haters: Show me one GOOD and NEW old school release… That’s right, you can’t, because there is none!

    Peace out

I think that many of you don’t understand that this is a music competition with one of three premium rapidshare accounts as a prize for the person with the most music posts. That’s why there are so many music posts lately.

@73- I agree with you, Lupe Fiasco is one of my favorite rappers out now.

And I wished that rap and hip hop were still like they were back in the 90s. Artists nowadays can’t hold a candle to rappers from the 90s. If soulja boy, dj unk, lil scrappy, etc. were to have put out an album in the 90s, they would have gotten laughed at and humiliated on a track by everyone.

    May 10th, 2008 | 13:59

@83: It’s just a competition that is going on for 3 days. So just wait those 3 days until there is a winner and after that, there might be a new, good editor, that posts new and good music (when it comes out). But in those three days, you have to post crap music if you want to win because there is no way that in those three days a bunch of new and good scene releases are released…
@76: Thanks for letting us know how old you are, but I don’t see what this has to do with the topic.. Well, I’ve read some comments here, saying they like the album so shut up!

If you don’t like the artist or the genre, simple avoid the post then. Stop whining.

@84 Theres been PLENTY of new scene releases, and guess what? NOT POSTED HERE. Why? Too busy posting these insanely crappy music releases.

Yadda yadda its a contest….well make a seperate area for it then where little poor peasants can go rampant to get a free rapid share premium account.

WHY DO YOU AMERICANS LISTEN TO SO MANY CRAP MUSIC?? I DON’T GET IT. LIKE 50 CENT, SNOOP DOG AND OTHER BLACK RAPERS. IS BECAUSE YOU THINK IT’S COOL TO BE BAD? IS COOL TO BE BLACK, HAVE MUCH MONEY, GIRLS AND DRUGS? EVERY GUY THAK COMES WITH A SINGLE WITH GIRLS AND GOOD CARS IT DOESN’T MATTER HOW THE SONG IS, YOU JUST BUY IT!

Just look how stupid the dude looks in that picture. I wish these guys would realize they’re still just soft-shoeing clowns and nobody takes them seriously. Even if THEY PAID, they’re still just walking, talking jokes setting their entire race back years and years.

There’s a reason most self-respecting blacks strongly dislike this sort of rap and this sort of culture. (Hip hop as a genre isn’t doomed, but this particular sort is just so awful. Listen to Immortal Technique, Pharaoh Monche, Eyedea and Abilities, Ghostface Killah, Killer Mike. These guys are actually talented, not just dancing clowns in black-face.)

And believe me, most white kids who listen to rap only listen because it’s so ridiculous and easy to make fun of (even if it’s only subconsciously). Like how many white guys have put in fake ‘grills’ or have bling’d out p.i.m.p. cups just because it’s funny since it’s so stupid?

These guys think they’re so hard and so cool too. Just look at that picture of him one more time. Sad really.

“pffff another lousy rap album. the only reason that rap artists sell so much music is that the kind of people that listen to that crap are too dumb to figure out how to download it.

dumb listeners + ignorance in technology = high record sales”

Also I think you have to remember that this kind of hip-hop is all about mindless consumerism. The songs play out like advertisements* for liquor, cars, jewelry, electronics so why wouldn’t you expect that their fan base are also MINDLESS CONSUMERS.

This music is about the worship of money, and you’re not hard unless you get paid (or at least pretend like you get paid). So anyone rocking downloaded CD-R’s in their hydro’d chrome-piped 2001 Civic (with a tail scoop even though it’s front-wheel drive) would just look silly right?

    * Also a lot of rappers get paid HUGE for name-checking brands in their songs. And you wonder why this genre is doing so well? Follow the advertisers.

    @ 92, PT -

Snoop is a cool guy; I met him a couple times, and he’s got some insight- but people don’t really get him. (cause he be kinda strange, yeah?)

Not all American music is shyte… just the majority of it.

Underground, unknown, and local bands are what I generally listen to; and it makes for good entertainment when people ask you about it, it’s a talking point.

    This isn’/

I don’t even bother reading all the comments anymore because it’s the same over and over again!
@88 (you probably won’t reply to this because you just clicked on this post to drop a comment and will never visit it again): Then don’t just say it, give me a release name! There simply is none! All the new CDs of the old school rappers suck, too!

@92: Why are you specializing on Americans??? I’m not American!

@93: It doesn’t matter how somebody looks in the music genre, his voice matters you *dontwannaswear*.
I don’t know if you know Paul Potts, the winner of Britain’s Got Talent, but he looks pretty ugly too and that man can sing like Pavarotti. So don’t say “look how ugly he is”, because you’re probably even more ugly. And besides, do you really think all the old school rappers are cute and sexy?? Yeah, that’s what I thought! Now, Lil Scrappy doesn’t have a very good voice either, but that’s another thing, but then say “he can’t rap”, not “he’s ugly”!
