Letters From Iwo Jima DVDRip XviD-NeDiVx

The second movie that Clint Eastwood brought out the previous year is the Japanese side of the war. “Flags of our Fathers” tells the story from the American side and “Letters From Iwo Jima” tells the story from the Japanese side. I saw the movie but could not understand much of it cause I was not paying attention, so I think this is a good opportunity to see the movie in good quality and with good subs. The movie was nominated for Best Picture in the last months Oscar ceremony. Enjoy!

Sixty-one years ago, US and Japanese armies met on Iwo Jima. Decades later, several hundred letters are unearthed from that stark island’s soil. The letters give faces and voices to the men who fought there, as well as the extraordinary general who led them.

The Japanese soldiers are sent to Iwo Jima knowing that, in all probability, they will not come back. Among them are Saigo (Kazunari Ninomiya), a baker who wants only to live to see the face of his newborn daughter; Baron Nishi (Tsuyoshi Ihara), an Olympic equestrian champion known around the world for his skill and his honor; Shimizu (Ryo Kase), a young former military policeman whose idealism has not yet been tested by war; and Lieutenant Ito (Shidou Nakamura), a strict military man who would rather accept suicide than surrender.

Leading the defense is Lt. General Tadamichi Kuribayashi (Ken Watanabe), whose travels in America have revealed to him the hopeless nature of the war but also given him strategic insight into how to take on the vast American armada streaming in from across the Pacific.

With little defense other than sheer will and the volcanic rock of the island itself, Gen. Kuribayashi’s unprecedented tactics transform what was predicted to be a quick and bloody defeat into nearly 40 days of heroic and resourceful combat. Almost 7,000 American soldiers were killed on Iwo Jima; more than 20,000 Japanese troops perished. The black sands of Iwo Jima are stained with their blood, but their sacrifices, their struggles, their courage and their compassion live on in the letters they sent home.

From Academy Award winner Clint Eastwood (”Million Dollar Baby,” “Unforgiven”) comes the untold story of the Japanese soldiers and their General who, 61 years ago, defended against the invading American forces on the island of Iwo Jima.

Two previous versions had glitched ending cut off, and then horribly engrished subs. Anyone confirm this is a decent whole copy with decent subs?

i just downloaded the subs from the above subs link
as the subs i got didnt work
    subs work fine now
    just download from above
    put in the relevenat folders
    i.e a subs in the a folder
b subs in the b folder
double check to see they are both the same names
    as the relevant film files
play with the VLC player and they will work correctly
you might have to go to video in the VLC toolbar
and make sure track 1 is enabled of the subtitles track
    but the subs work great
and there isnt much subs on the net yet for this brilliant film

  18. stupid question
    April 26th, 2007 | 15:56

i know my question may sound stupid ,,,but is it just in Japanese ,,,is there any English version of the movie,,,cause on imdb.com they r saying that it,s both in English and Japanese …so guys what,s the hack

  19. April 26th, 2007 | 16:31

The Americans in the movie speak English, the Japanese speaks Japanese. There is English subtitles for the Japanese speaking part, and Japanese subtitles for the English speaking part.

“The Flags of our fathers” is the first of 2 movies about the The Battle of Iwo Jima. “Letters from Iwo Jima” is the second. The movie will not be dubbed in to English according to Clint Eastwood. So you better learn to read subtitles ;)
