Leatherheads is a movie directed by George Clooney and written by Duncan Brantley & Rick Reilly. Very good actors in this hilarious comedy about sport…to be precise about football. They are trying to save this sport and maybe try to learn how to play it by rules. :mrgreen: Movie is full with action, good women and of course comedy, and has gotten very good grades on RT (54%/100%) & IMDB (6.3/10). PLOT: In 1925, when LEATHERHEADS takes place, professional football is a joke, especially when compared to its more respected college cousin. Teams across the country are folding, and player Dodge Connelly will do anything to keep his own team, the Duluth Bulldogs, from folding. The enterprising (read: scheming) Dodge steals Princeton star and war hero Carter Ruthford from his school, and soon the Bulldogs are winning, but it’s the game of football that is the real champion as fans pack the stadiums. Meanwhile, reporter Lexie Littleton begins investigating Rutherford’s past, thanks to a tip from one of the star’s old war buddies that he may not be all he seems. The pre-regulation football is dirty, but it’s far cleaner than the action when Dodge and Carter vie for Lexie’s affections.

    @5 arde based on the sample avi’s only i would say get the bald version, also i prefer the bald version b/c it is the correct size to put onto a cd and watch in my dvd/divx player, the stg version is over 800 mb

You do realize that a dvd, which costs basically the same money as a cd, and can hold 5 800mb, or 6 700mb movies, etc.? C’mon, man. Tell me you were joking and not being a complete dolt. ffs

    @9 and @12, yes i do burn my movies in .avi format onto cd to watch on my dvd player, b/c it is divx compatible and i get cds for practically nothing, i have had a dvd burner for a long time and it only is compatible w/ 1x-8x dvds so they are harder for me to find but cds are practically given away during sales, so for 10cents or less i dont mind burning 1 disc at a time, there is a reason y the scene releases them on cd sized 700 mb files, so bugger off 12 and #9 u need to get a dvd player that can play divx files, most new ones do, it will save u the pain of having to convert files b4 u can watch them on your TV, hope this helps and your welcome for the first links, i would still recomend bald for your choice on this film, i think quality is better

    The “scene” releases in “cd sized 700 mb files” (whether 1 or more) because there are antiquated rules that govern their decisions, not because people actually, en masse, burn them to compact discs any longer. Gaahhh. Antiquated. Word of the m0therf0ck!ng day, apparently.

    Thanks for the opinion to get the bald, but i’m a bit into In Bruges, and its very good, so i think I’ll wait a few weeks, because, as i remember, National Treasure 2 came out in a vhs scr, then a week or so later, the dvd came out, so i think i’ll pass this one up, but thanks for the comments

    Based on the given samples, it’s 512×384, i.e. 1.33:1. Aspect ratio information is wrong. This is far from being 672×368. Too bad.

    flyupload rocks, get ad block plus with firefox and just click the dl link 9 times, im getting 2 megabytes a sec, yes megabytes, much faster than these new torrents, why do these ppl upload to hosts with 100 files split and captcha’s all over the place with ads taking over my browser? Not to mention the dl delays and hassle of dling each file wtf is that?

    @ bojangles, i thought i had the most recent firmware, my drive is a NEC 1x-4x burner and i updated the firmware like a year and half ago just to get it to work with 8x media, i don’t think there is any more updates, but if you know of way to get it to work with newer media i would bow down to you like marceli teabags m vs b/c i hate having to get 8x only media it is a frickin pain in my ass, someone help!

    I’ve got a Philips (divx/xvid) DVD player with a USB port, and an 8GB flash drive. I just copy the movie files to the flash drive, plug it into the DVD player and watch the movies.

    The read speeds are slower on the flash drive than CD/DVD, and will sometimes stutter. But, for the most part it works great!

    You could always go out and spend $45 and buy a dvd player that plays divx files. I have one attached to every TV in my house now, and it’s much easier than having to convert every movie you download into a dvd format. This way, you just put a bunch of them on a data dvd, and watch them in their native format. Simple, easy, and not too expensive.

    When you buy that DIVX DVD player, buy one with a USB port, no need to put anything on CD or DVD, play straight from a USB stick, I have a USB stick for TV shows and a 500 GB drive for movies, when I start up my player it’s like having a juke box filled with movies, so many choices.

    Oh come on. Clooney looks completely out of place in this flick. No one had hair like that in the 20s, and his is always perfect, even when he takes the hat off. The original players of the game were NOT pretty boys. Even if they started out that way, they sure as hell didn’t stay that way for long. He’s a cool enough dude, Clooney, but sometimes he’s just not right for a roll. And this is definitely one of those times.

    The file itself looks pretty crappy. The bald version, the only one I’ve seen, is a little choppy due to the frame rate issues common to vhs>digital transfer, is blurry/unclear, and the colors are off and washed out as the contrast is poor. It’s watchable, but if you’ve been looking forward to the first viewing, you’re best to wait for a better release.

    The movie itself is what it is. If you’re not from the U.S., and not into football the way it’s done in the states (this predates the NFL by many decades, wiseguys), this isn’t for you. Don’t even understand why you’d compare this to anything else. Like I said, it is what it is, and it has been for nearly a century.
