I cannot stand when people throw around the word racist. Who and what is a racist. A racist is someone who is part of a group of like featured individuals who cling to a culturally defined belief, that they are not only superior to other individuals who have different physical aesthetic qualities and characteristics, but also perpetuate and engage in the cultural, economic and social annihilation of another group of people. A racist person is not simply someone who prejudges another race based on stereotypes. A racist person has philosophies that have been indoctrinated into their psyche due to systemic myths and lies that have been deemed truthful for a significant period of time.

I watched Lauryn Hill live in Istanbul last year, it was a huge disappointment:(… I was lucky that I had been able to see Tori Amos before in the same festival.
Lauryn Hill’s voice is gone baby gone!!! She was making such noises like a seal on stage. Those beautiful songs in Miseducation was brutally killed one by one right infront of our eyes. The worst concert of my life and I really couldnt believe it was her under that heavy make up and in high collar mafia dress. Lauryn cant return anymore and noone’s waiting indeed.

If you compare this album to The miseducation of Lauryn hill it so crap.. And she mixed the cd with old songs just stupid fill up’s real crappy cd

I do like Lauryn as an artist but I don’t want to have new albums with the same old stuff again and again. Did she lose her creativity?

The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is undoubtable one of the most influential, greatest records of all time. Her debut as a solo artist was amazing. I guess there are some pros and cons to her falling out of the industry. She is not following the status quo and is deciding to live life true to her own spirit, but at the same time we lost some of that independant creativeness when she decided to go into hiding and stop voicing herself through her music. It sucks.

Hill’s comments about her music been aimed at black people are quite probably true, read some of her interviews and draw your own conclusions, people. The fact that she recanted (or tried to) was after realizing that white people are the ones spending money on her music plus label executives giving her a bollocking.

The fact that she black does not excuse her racism. Yes, black people can be racist too, you’d think they know better but anyway.

Her comments aside,she does have an amazing voice but all of her songs have been done to death and she needs new material ASAP.

oh and to learn to exercise some restrain before speaking too! The post is of course totally unofficial.

i guess no one on here believes in second chances! It’s clear to see that she is different now that she has a new relationship with God! When she became pregnant she realized that she needed a change, so she stopped running from God, and like Jonah, he heard her prayers and gave her a second chance! We should leave her past comments out of this and just talk about the new music! I love her music, but it looks like this “new” cd is just a mix of her old stuff! darn! i can’t wait to hear something new!

Yes tis album is full of old material but some of it has never been heard. If you like Lauryn Hill, then get it or just like others have said, dig in the crates for the old albums and listen 2 them.People have a bad habit of Misinterpreting what people say. As far as I’m concerned, we all have a little racism in us as it was brought on from our parents or unfortunate situations. My sister loves Elvis even though he’s reportedly a racist. James Hatfield of Metallica is reportedly a racist but Metallica is the S@%t. So use your own mind.

Why can’t people just give opinions on the quality of music instead of bringing race into the factor. I don’t like Lauren Hill’s music, nothing to do with race I just find rnb a really boring genre, hiphop on the other hand I don’t mind.

Why bother trying to defend her? The people claiming she’s a racist probably don’t like her because she’s black. See the irony? Neither Tommy Hilfiger nor Lauryn Hill ever made the racist remarks spread through rumors. Similarly, neither Rod Stewart nor Elton John ever had their stomach pumped for semen. Wake up and use your brain…and remember to FILTER. Just because you hear it doesn’t make it true. Lauryn Hill has more in common with Nelson Mandela than Michael Richards.
