Lab Rats S01E01 WS PDTV XviD-RiVER

RiVER has released the first episode of the BBC’s new comedy Lab Rats. Lab Rats is a big, daft, cartoony sitcom, filmed before a studio audience. Although set in a laboratory, it is less about science and more an excuse for stupid jokes, endearingly chaotic characters and fast-paced, farcical plots. One week might find the lab rats unexpectedly creating giant, corridor-filling snails, the next week they could be wondering how they’ve offended Joan Armatrading.

A Snail
Alex and Brian attempt to try and help a Russian professor clone his dead grandmother in just one day. Carla fills the laboratory with lemons.

    Can someone enlighten me on how exactly episodes like this are released, as in, do they have access to it shortly before it airs, cos how is it possible, that the group could’ve finished recording it at 10:00. Uploaded, released and rlslog staff could have it reported about… all in 9 minutes.
    Or is this just actually taped or got some other way

    It’s part of the fundamentals of the scene, he who relseases fastest wins! RiVER brings home an impressive win with a 9 minute release.

    @3

    I personally made a mythtv box and i use it to record shows. If that box had my normal desktop cpu i can encode a 30 minute divx file in under 5 minutes and i only have a e7200.

    with the whole mythtv setup you can have it auto flag commercials and transcode the show with out them all in 1 step.

    i dont personally dont see why tv shows dont always come out that fast. I do however understand why hd rips do but thats hd

    At first this show was absolute balls and i was about to give up when one of them made a fairly amusing comment about a kitkat, past then the show was pretty good. I think i will give it another watch next week because the first episode of a comedy is quite often the worst. my 2 cents.

    that kit kat joke was stolen, someone else said something about sticking together 4 kitkat chunkies and pretending you’re a small child.

    only half decent gag and they half inched it, wankers.

    Its called segmented encoding. You cap a part of the tv show thats between the commercial brake, encode it and up it to the ftp so that you don’t have to upload a whole 350MBs at one time seeing as you can do it while encoding another part of the tv show. When the tv show comes back on, you start encoding another part and so on. Than you join the files on the ftp using a script, rar them, and create and nfo using a script as well.

    I think the kit kat joke was a bill bailey joke, what cheek!!

    @sc0rff

    I had no clue they have no commercial breaks :( Than they just record the whole thing I guess, or maybe they can have the app they’re using start recording to a new file so they can start uploading…

    At first glance it looks a lot like ‘The IT-crowd’, which was a great (short-lived) series. Will download and watch!

    Bad acting along with cliché characters* is bad enough but to have no jokes is downright sad. It felt more like they were making it up on the spot.

    * Intelligent main protagonist, protagonists arch rival - intelligent but not as much, older guy doing his own thing but occasionally helps protagonist with words of wisdom, the stupid one to make protagonist look good and boss type figure to oversee it all.

    I know some other shows air an hour earlier in Canada and that’s how we get them about an hour afterwards, but only a few mins after it airs in the US, maybe the same goes for this show.

    Terrible.

    Imagine the fictional sitcom in Extras and your getting close. The potential is there if they try making it funny.
