Kutaragi talks about PlayStation 4
Ken Kutaragi, the ‘Father of PlayStation’, has revealed that he already has a vision for PlayStation 4, 5 and even 6 – despite having announced his imminent retirement, as we reported earlier. Speaking to the EE Times Kutaragi said that previously he had been unable to talk about “the next step” as PS3 had not launched globally. “We’ve introduced PS3 in Europe, so now I can openly talk about” future plans, he continued.
“As a matter of course, I have the vision of PlayStation 4, 5 and 6, which will merge into the network.” According to the leaked information, Kutaragi has already supplied Sony’s designers with ideas for cutting the cost of manufacturing PS3 – and with design models for two years into the future. He is now focused on exploiting the opportunities offered by connectivity, stating, “The design concept of the Cell processor is the network processor.” We’re probaby talking about a very distant future now, but it’s nice to dream about all the possible features of games which will be released in next 4 years or even later…

Lol, that Kutaragi guy sounds desperate, making plans 5 years ahead. With PS3 Sony lost a big share of the market. Only 8 year old kids would get hyped by bullshit like that …
VGA: Everybody in the multi-billion $ business has to make plans for years ahead. It’s not desperation, probably both Microsoft and Nintendo are already working on their console’s successors. I bet Playstation 4 will be a very good console, Sony is taking a lot of beating right now and hopefully it will change their attitude towards customers.
The thing is these days you can make all the plans you want but you just can’t get much further past that as god knows what technology will come in that time and you will want to use.
At the moment Sony’s focus should be on getting more PS3s sold as even though the Wii and PS3 are newly released the PS3 is slumping badly in Japan sales wise and it’s really going strong anywhere.
I think this time Sony completely misread what customers wanted and just created something they wanted to sell.
The PS2 and PS1 did not sell very well after release. But after a couple of years over 100 million units was sold!
After a couple of years, most things tend to pass the 100m mark…

i love my ps3 and my wii, but you have to be a complete idiot to think that the ps3 isn’t anything less than superior. I’m sorry you people are poor, but don’t hate on something just because you can’t afford it.
Paul, you don’t have to be rich to own a PS3….it’s a video game console, not a house.
Yes the specs are undisputable, but what the market has responded to is the fact that the PS3 is just not relevant…I have one and my family always plays the Wii instead. Too bad, suck it up. You should do what I do and not be console-loyal, but game-loyal. I buy all the systems, and are very selective about my games, buying only the best ones. I can’t imagine being without Halo 3 on the XBOX 360 or Mario VS Sonic Olympics on the Wii. What is there for my PS3? NOTHING worth writing about. Yet.
