Finally the horrid American Gladiators 2008 finishes tonight. After the finale, NBC’s Knight Rider 2008 edition airs. The pilot episode is set in a ‘tv movie’ format, which runs 120 minutes long. The Knight Industries 3000 will be an upgrade to The Knight Industries 2000. KITT will be voiced by Val Kilmer. KITT is going to be a 2008 Ford Mustang GT500KR and will have similar features as compared to the original KITT including the ability to morph into a “battle mode”, a new effect achieved primarily with CGI animation. The KITT 3000 features are:

Sarah and KITT set off to recruit her childhood friend Mike Tracer into helping them figure out who has her father and is trying to steal KITT. This two-hour movie event is a modern day sequel to the classic 1980s television series starring Justin Bruening, Deanna Russo, Sydney Tamiia Poitier, and Bruce Davison, with a special guest appearance by David Hasselhoff.

the previous knight rider show had a nice sleek Trans-Am with almost no grill in the front, and just that cool red light bouncing back and forth.
this knight rider is not a sleek looking car at all, but almost like a wannabe 60’s style mustang, that looks like they glued on every dealer-sold ground effect they could find.
i agree with #12 car looks like shhhhheeeeetttt, but being open minded will give the pilot and the series or at least a couple of shows a chance

Show was horrible.
It was like a 2-hour advertisement for Ford. The first car chase scene had nothing but the new Ford 2008 production line.
Talk about a cheapass way to remake a chessy classic. The original car was better. I will watch this anyways. I am sure it will totally make me laugh at the half-assed making of it.

@28 – the problem with that idea, is that there is only 1 Camero concept in existance, and it’s valued at $500,000.
First K.I.T.T was a modified Trans-Am (Appeareance I mean)
But for this movie and the new series they should have designed a new car based on the Trans Am. In 90’s there was the Knight Rider 2000 movie and that was the latest Trans Am but that wasn’t really good too.
Mustang is a great car. But not really suitable for K.I.T.T
I’d prefer the original K.I.T.T and a suitable plot for that.
But also there are sponsorship issues and…whatever I’ll try to enjoy it as it is.. Haven’t watched it yet..

Yeah where’s the Cylon inspired red eyeball in the front? NBC is really hastening the fall of Western Civilization by bring back this turd of a show. And to anyone else. Why is everybody mentioning that they either will or won’t watch other episodes? It was designed as a two hour made for tv movie and has not yet been picked up for a series. Also, even if it does it won’t be till next year I presume, to give them time to produce the episodes and as I said it has not been picked up yet, so it may not get made into a series at all.
Just enjoy it for what it was, entertainment! The mustang was fine in the movie. Also, the NEW K.I.T.T is just that NEW. It was mentioned in the movie that he built another one. As for people not believing the “Self repair system”, it was a way of explaining the “invulnerability” of the original K.I.T.T because nothing is indestructible, everything has a weakness.
If it does continue as a series I will gladly watch because it will be a darn site better than Battlestar which had a crap season in season 3 and probably won’t be much better in season 4 because they are finishing this season.

Whatever! Battlestar is one of the best shows around at the moment and had a brilliant third season (especially the final episode – even more so after watching ‘Razor’). This new Knight Rider isn’t fit to lick Battlestar’s cylons.
They did this once already, it was called Knight Rider 2000 with Hasselhoff, the original voice of KITT, and it kicked ass except for the death of Devin, that kind of blew…. but I haven’t seen this 2008 tv movie yet, (2000 was a tv movie as well, meant to revive interest in the series but failed to do that) and I can’t see this version being anywhere near good as the 2000 flick.

Dude.. You really need to kill yourself if you thought the 2000 movie was bad ass. Some twiggy ass blond is supposed to be the Night Rider, striking fear into the baddies. They may die of laughter when she pulls up.
As for the new car, yeah it’s crap. They did want something else for it, but the mustang was the only production American sports car available with a backseat.

This is only the pilot! Maybe if we start a petition they could change the car. Probably not, but this Mustang doesn’t even has similar design lines with the original KITT.
Everything in this episode sucks. Mustang – looks bad, bad aerodinamic, bad voice, ugly inside… Why nanotech, the original was bulletproof, without it. Plot really bad, as the actors too. I don’t get it, why they didn’t go to a Hot Rod shop and let a Corvette or something modify.

I loved the first episodes, of the first show, maybe they got worse but did not watch all of them of the first series.

Obviously I wanted one too when I was a kid, but have, alas, grown up to realize I’ll never have enough money (for a viper or vette, trans am i could not fix when it broke down if I got work and bought 2nd hand some 80s one)

You guys gotta remember though. This movie was a test to see how good it would do because the director wants to turn it into a series. If it does get turned into a series, alot things will be changed in the show. You might like it.

i liked it. The most important part to me is that the executive producer is Glen a. Larson (creator of Knight Rider) and has the support of David Hasselhoff (the original Michael Knight), so those are the reasons that I support the movie and will support a series if it gets picked up.
well wasn’t the pits, but wasn’t great either. i will wait to see a couple shows first before giving a thumbs up or down…
they have me hooked for now…the acting was a little crap i must admit though, hope that improves(i suppose it was only the pilot though too).

I’m truly amazed at how many posters here don’t understand, even after it’s been explained a dozen times; The new car is a Ford, because Ford sank a bunch of money into this. Most of the vehicles in the movie were from Ford, there were Ford ads at every commercial break. I’m not saying it’s right, or that I like it, I’m saying that everyone who is saying they should have dumped the Ford and used a sleeker car doesn’t understand that if they hadn’t used a Ford, they probably wouldn’t have had the money to make this in the first place.
As for the movie; I thought it was ok, although it seems strange that the new KITT has less personality than the old one. I know they probably did that to make it seem more realistic to today’s audiences, but it seems really out of place to anyone who watched the old show.

I am disappointed in kitt’s interior layout.I mean, there’s no cool buttons to press, no colorful l.e.d,kitt’s voice module looks so FUGLY…
the steering wheel looks like someone saw off part of it juz to make it look like original kitt’s gullwing steering wheel …Tat is sooo lame!!
Overall, kitt’s design sux! which reminds me “Team Knight Rider!!”

I think thats it would have been better tog o with a 2002 Blackbird transam that with a Mustard GT. Thats just my opinion and as for who ever said that their 500HP ford mustard can take on a trans am they havent heard of the 98 TransAm Formula with a modified LS2 engine 600RWHP only 50 where ever made.

@Trans Am: There should’ve been at least some kind of good bye for old times sake. Maybe there would’ve been, if David Hasselhoff would be sober enough to stand on his own feet. 0_o
I got a bit confused wathing this.
At first i thought it was made for adults seeing the bloke lying with 2 other women in bed and the cop whos a lesbian saying goodbye to her one night stand but watching the rest made me think it was actually for kids.
It wasnt directed/written well at all in my opinion.
I dont think even the director knew which target audience he was aiming for when doing it (unless it was late teens).
Didnt satisfy my nostalgia one bit.
