I want to see some benchmarks comparing low latency DDR2 800Mhz (4-4-4-12) Vs this new high latency DDR3-2000Mhz (9-10-9-27). Somehow I don't think it's worth the trouble or cost of adaptation. DDR2 took a long time to be uniformly adopted and I see DDR3 taking even longer. It's cool though none the less.

do you even know what a yottacore is? Probably not, because im the only one with one and I will NEVER sell my secrets. A yotta is another name for Quadrillion. While all you noobs are bragging about your quad core im smokin lightning on my quadrillion core.

TerMin4T0R
March 2nd, 2008 | 16:30
I will be gettin’ this in 8 gig stix to fuel my Quad-C0RE board wit 9800 GFX at 3.2 Ghz

Beat that BEEOTCHES!
----------------
I already did. A QUAD CPU motherboard with each of the cpu's 4GHz. Kingston 16GB Fully Buffered ECC DDR2-667 xw4300 ram memory (just one of these sticks smokes a hole in this memory stick, and they come in 4GB sticks) I have 2 cards that allow me to add up to 240 hard drives in a Raid 3 formation with each being able to be 1 terrabyte in size, though I only have 6 terrabytes filled. My pipe is 18mbps down with 12mbps up and costs me $80. a month for the connection. Have an HD compliant 21dpi Optiquest monitor that gives me the same picture as an LCD. With four X20 dvd writer/re-writers and an X-Fi Sound blaster audio card.

Now dont you feel pretty stupid for starting this whizzing contest of who has the best system TerMin4T0R? And I would bet that there are members here that have systems that would make even mine look slow. So go back and play with your jack in the box and when you get a real system, then you can start bragging.

I love a majorly OC'd top of the line system as much as the next guy, but I think uber fast PC's may actually hinder proper game development. I played HL2 on an 800mhz rig and I bloody loved it. I have since seen many games that look much, much worse and yet will not run unless its 3ghz/dual core. Making good games that scale properly is an art, and having uber fast and extremely expensive pc's transfers the cost of good development from the game developers to the cost of your pc.

@33 It's not like those 1000Watt power supplies are running at that amount constantly, if ever. Most people that put 1KW PSU's arent even using half of that. And the world does have an infinite supply of electric. Ever see a windmill? Or go rub your feet on the carpet and make your own electric current. In any case, not to worry. Theres only so much wattage a wall socket can supply(around 1400 watts I believe) so the never ending race to get more wattage will soon end. Its mainly marketing hype to have the most powerful PSU. Most newer components actually require less energy than their older counterparts. But I hear ya on the whole save the whales, save the snails, save a tree bit.

@34 The industry in general puts out different levels of product in all price ranges. It's not like consumers don't have a choice. If you can't afford the GTX they also offer the cheaper GT. Can't swing for the fancy new 3Ghz xtreme quad core? No problem, they offer a downclocked quad with a locked multiplier for half the price.

It just sounds like your mad at people who like to have the best in their rig. Don't worry-we're not hurting you in any way and the industry will continue to invent new groundbreaking products as well as middle of the road products for people such as yourself that don't need to "show off".

And just to show you how completely stupid your entire rant is, check out what $8500 got you years ago when PC's were no where near as popular and there were hardly any "showoffs". Basic economics, supply and demand. Learn it with your big brain.
