Heh, looks like SKIDROW is on fire! They just pre’d another release: King’s Bounty: The Legend. I have never heard of this game before (should I be ashamed?) but whatever. It looks… okay. I really don’t know anything about it so i’ll let you decide guys :)

King’s Bounty: The Legend is an adventure game with tactical turn-based battles and role-playing elements. In a fairy tale fantasy world of fearless knights, evil mages, wise kings and beautiful princesses the player controls a hero. Leading their character through the game world, exploring it, commanding armies in battle and accomplishing various quests can mean great reward or huge defeats.

Gameplay is divided into two major sections: adventure mode and battle mode. While playing in adventure mode the gamer controls their character in real-time. With several classes available at the start of a new game, the player moves through the adventure map seeking various treasures, fighting monsters and accomplishing quests tasked to him by the local stewards. Once in battle mode the gamer assumes the role of a war chief, leading his troops in tactical turn-based combat. Battles take place on land or sea, in dungeons or castles or even in some items! The hero himself doesn’t participate in the combat, but can assist his troops by casting spells or summoning different creatures.

  • Real-time (adventure) meets turn-based (battles) gameplay
  • Rich fantasy setting, storyline with a lot of twists and an unexpected ending
  • Three types of characters to choose from – Warrior, Paladin and Mage. Each of them with unique characteristics and abilities
  • Huge game world with dozens locations and battlefields – both on the surface and in the dungeons
  • The game world isn’t static - enemies don’t just sit and wait for the hero to arrive, they pursue their own aims and try to get into the player’s way

    Heroes of Might and Magic’s was based off of King’s Bounty unique gameplay. It was released in 1990, five years before HOMM1. I bought a direct download from Atari’s website and have been playing it non-stop for 3 days, I can honestly say I enjoy it much more than HOMM. The world is persistant and doesn’t have campains like HOMM5, where you have to restart your army every time you complete a mission. It was released in Russia a couple months back. So, other than some poor english translations, the game is well polished and runs stable.

    All in all, if you enjoyed the original KB or HOMM, than you will love this game. At only $40 I would definitely recommend purchasing it.

    I have been going to a different site for about two months now (scene info). I can see that I was right in taking this off my bookmarks. All posts are late and the comments are stupid flamers like when I left.

    This site is so late all the time that people use the comments section to post their own posts that RLS has not posted yet.

    The ad have gotten even worse here too. I get re-directed to that ad so often. There are NO ads at scene info. NOT ONE. And it surely does not redirect you like this money making site.

    i was a loyal rlslog reader ever since.. but i have to agree,
    this site is dying and its SLOW…
    the best release site at the moment is, imho, http://www.zero sec.ws (without space)…

    From the bullets, it sounds like Final Fantasy Tactics. I loved FF Tactics and GameSpy’s review sealed the deal. Going to try this.

    Yeah i remember my c-64 and my amiga man it had windows and a slick GUI like 10 years before IBM stormed the market with PCs and DOS. that Amiga was way whead of its time but it had some decent games and the c-64 chip is still used today in modern music no less, its called the SID chip. ne way this is a good game redone by ppl who know what there doing. the production values are high on this more so than the MM series and the gameplay is classic and near limitless.

    The archive contains the SKIDROW folder from the DVD with both the crack and the craktro.

    I used the crack and it loads, but I get no sound. I’m on Xp and I can’t find anyone else who is having this issue. sound works on everything else I play

    ok found the solution to sound problem, do as follows :

    If you still have the problem of no sound goto the default.ini file located in the data folder of Kings Bounty.
    Open with notepad.

    Scroll to the bottom and locate # Integer parameter
    setf ~cl_force_soundcard -1 change the 1 to a 0 so it should now look like this

    # Integer parameter
    setf ~cl_force_soundcard -0

    Close and save.

    and there’s your sound

    Got it, and beat it. Truly is an amazing game that took about 20 hours to beat on easy. Armageddon is the best spell in the game and I just used it 2 times to win the final battle. This is really one of the best tactics based rpgs ever, and really fine tuned.

    I can’t beleive that games have been around for so long that RPG players haven’t heard of King’s Bounty. It’s like the original RPG that started it all! I wonder how long it will take for people to forget Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger…

    Loved the Commodore 64! I wouldn’t say King’s Bounty was an RPG at all… more of a strategy game and it came out in 1990. The earliest RPG I have played was Ultima 4 for commodore released 2 years after I was born (1985) learned a great deal of English from that game! Like:

    “Would you like to be a pepper too?”

    The links provided by #55 work well. Installed the game with no problems. My thanks.

    The game itself is not what I expected it to be, judging from the comments I read about King’s Bounty 1. This was not meant in a bad way - it’s just less serious game than I thought it would be. It’s a game worth trying out. Among other things it provides a lot of gameplay time.

    Does anyone know if there’s a crack for the latest 1.6.5 patch? It fixes a lot of bugs and crashes but I can’t find a no-cd fix anywhere…

    Doramir i have done what you have sad and still aint getting any sound??
    Please Help!! I dont know what to do and game looks realy nice but without sound aint worth to play!!!

    - no problem instaling, running the game.

    - this game is basically Heros Of Might And Magic, the turn based game. there are differenes; some slight, some major.

    - after playing it for a day. its' not bad but it does lack something. it does get static after a while and the lack of a central theme or central storyline to follow, doesn't do it justice.

    - if you like Heroes of Might and Magic (turn based), then you will enjoy this glittered version.
