King of California LiMiTED DVDSCR XViD-ALLiANCE

Alliance are back with another LiMiTED movie this time being King of California staring Micheal Douglas. As with most of these limited movies I’m sure the majority of you haven’t heard about it ever (including me). The movies plot is odd to being about a father who just got released from a mental institution and tries to convince his daughter that there’s spanish gold buried around where they live. Audio and video are what you’d expect from a DVDSCR being nice and clear with no problems (as far as I’ve seen). If you’re into LiMiTED films, like Micheal Douglas, or just bored you might want to see this. Download and enjoy :)

At the age of sixteen, Miranda (Evan Rachel Wood) has already had to live with her share of disappointments. Abandoned by her mother, she’s dropped out of school and has been supporting herself as an employee at McDonald’s while her father Charlie (Michael Douglas) resides in a mental institution.

When Charlie is released and sent back to their home, Miranda finds the relatively peaceful existence she’s built for herself completely disrupted. Charlie has become obsessed with the notion that the long-lost treasure of Spanish explorer Father Juan Florismarte Garces is buried somewhere near their suburban California housing unit. Armed with a metal detector and a stack of treasure-hunting books, Charlie soon finds reason to believe that the gold resides underneath the local Costco, and encourages Miranda to get a job there so that they can plan a way to excavate after hours.

Initially skeptical, Miranda soon finds herself joining in Charlie’s questionable antics in an effort to give him one last shot at accomplishing his dreams in this darkly funny, exciting and surprisingly hopeful take on the modern family and the American dream.

Writer/director Mike Cahill’s film is the story of a teenage girl who has essentially raised her mentally-ill father, and her attempts at supporting his most questionable plan yet: locating 18th century gold that he believes is buried beneath their Southern California suburb. Miranda (Evan Rachel Wood) has more than a few reasons to be cynical: her mother abandoned her, she’s been forced to quit school and work at McDonald’s to support herself, and Charlie, her father (Michael Douglas), has just returned home after two years in a mental institution. But as Miranda begins to see the possibilities in Charlie’s deluded treasure hunt, she also begins to realize that what he’s attempting is a last-ditch effort to make something of himself and for his daughter in a world that seems to be constantly disappointing them.

    Looprah is just jealous of RLSLOG’s success. Obviously staff members aren’t going to write the summary of the movie again, they just put in what the think of the movie/release. Looprah’s site doesn’t even compare to RLSLOG. Heh, half of his releases are from axxo, not the scene.

    October 26th, 2007 | 09:02

    @hibby

    i believe LiMiTED means it was released at very few theaters if any, i dont think it has to do with how much of a budget they had, although the 2 may go hand in hand.

  21. OneStepAhead
    October 26th, 2007 | 09:04

    yes it looks like this film was only ran at 27 screens.

    @hibby

    im just wondering how you know that they lost money?

  22. Skeffington
    October 26th, 2007 | 09:36

    One Step Ahead, you are correct.

    LIMITED doesn’t refer to the amount of money it made, but to the amount of theaters it has been played it. Serious or generally arty films will often do that to create a buzz around the film. It has nothing to do with the quality of the movie itself.

    If anything, it’s more likely to be a good sign.

    Limited means that it played in 700 or less screens.
    The DVDrip IS OUT OF SYNC.
    The DVD-R of this movie, released by the same group is IN SYNC.
    If you can download a 3GB file to watch this, get the DVD-R instead.

    as stated the movie is out of sync however according to posters on vcd quality there is a sync fix (have not found it myself) rumors have it that this one will be nuked with a proper being released with the audio fixed (not sure how reliable the rumor is though) i would suggest wait a while until they either release the proper or a fix that we can find

    @Skeffington

    “If anything, it’s more likely to be a good sign.”

    If it only ran in a few theaters, that is not a good sign. That happens because theater chains don’t want to take much risk on the film since in test screenings, it didnt do well.

    Stupid people like yourself shouldn’t comment unless you know what you are talking about.

    yes.
    I suppose the best thing to do is add the faulty avi to
    the syncfix folder and write to an external hardrive or cd
    and use a windows machine. If using a cd copy the files
    onto the computer. It will not run from the cd . Take a 2nd cd
    to write your fixed avi to.
    The process itself only takes 2 minutes.

    an easy fix for the sync issue is to google avimuxgui.exe (freeware) add the 550ms delay and save as a new file. Takes only a few minutes. The movie is actually very entertaining, much better than the slew of psycho killer flix around at the momemt.

    Used that method myself. It works but the new avi was not
    recognised by convertxtodvd and will not work on some dvix players

    jamaican lover
    Using the fix in comment 48.
    Extract rar to desktop
    open the folder
    Copy and paste or move the faulty avi into the folder
    click on the king.ms dos batch file
    Your new fixed avi will appear in the same folder

    @madstan

    you are right, forgot about that. I have a TV jacked into my PC so these days I usually download a movie, watch it, archive it and forget it.

    I have found a workaround for the prob though. An old video joining program call easy video joiner 5.21. All I do is run it through that prog. The file is then able to be read by convertx2dvd. I’m not sure why it works or if a divx player could read the new file but it does work for converting to DVD.

    If you unzip using 7-zip (free) on file number one, it automatically joins all parts together. So no need for another step, another tool and more time wasted!

    Why convert from avi to ts? It makes not sense if you watching it on you computer or through your vid card to a tv. The free GOM-Player will play any file type. Well, I also have a Dvd player which plays Divx.
