King Of California LIMITED DVDRip XviD-NeDiVx

Another limited dvdrip today, but this time by NeDiVx guys. “King Of California” is comedy which stars Michael Douglas & Evan Rachel Wood as main actors. I didn’t watched this one but according to IMDb & RT scores it have something to offer.

Plot: Douglas stars as Charlie, a troubled musician who has just been released from a mental hospital. He returns home to live with his 16-year-old daughter, Miranda (Evan Rachel Wood), who is not exactly thrilled to have him back. Miranda has been forced to quit school and get a job in order to support herself and hold on to her beat-up old car and the family house, which is right in the middle of a new development–but she has refused to sell out. Instead, she works extra shifts at McDonald’s and has no social life. But her father–still suffering from mental illness–insists that she join him on a wild adventure in search of supposedly long-buried treasure, and soon the two of them are combing through California, facing danger as Charlie leads them on a crazy quest that takes them through major chain stores and restaurants. Wood (THIRTEEN) is excellent as Miranda, walking that fine line between wanting to believe in her father and feeling he should be hospitalized again–but she never stops loving him, even against her better judgment.

Watched the screener (or r5?) of this movie quite some time ago. I must say I really liked it. For sure worth downloading ;) . If you like those typical boring hollywood flicks then this is not for you :) . Kirk Douglas shines throughout the whole movie.

looks awful like alot of these limited release films that have been popping up over the last couple of days, something must of gone bad with that richard gere movie but this one just looks awful, you can just see by the plot outline and how stupid it looks as to why it didn’t get picked up by a studio and the rt of 64% does not do it any justice as not even many critics bothered to review it and it’s almost 50% rotten anyway! I’ll pass lol

The last 2 releases of NeDivX, gives me problem on my DVD player. I never had problems with AVI before. VLS player takes the AVI file. I somehow suspect NeDivX for stealing this release from another group since the video ratio is bad.

Other problems with releases from NeDivX are:
War ( out of sync )
    A brave one ( 2 hours movie into 700 MB – poor quality )

    WASTE OF TIME:

If you’re looking for buried indie cinematic riches, keep on digging. The clunky “King of California” leaves you with all the satisfaction of hitting caliche in your backyard.
Writer/director Mike Cahill’s debut is a zany father/daughter bonding comedy with flashes of brilliance that turn out to be fool’s gold. It twists the “Freaky Friday” concept of reversed responsibility roles between a parent and child along with a “Da Vinci Code”-like treasure hunt. The plot is ridiculously outlandish rather than whimsically fascinating, and the characters are too inflexible to convince you they’re real people. Uncle Joey and Danny Tanner on the sitcom “Full House” had more depth.
The film opens with Miranda (Evan Rachel Wood), a responsible, overserious and self-sufficient 16-year-old picking up her father, Charlie (Michael Douglas), from a mental hospital.
Miranda is amazing, not so much because she’s been able to support herself by working at McDonald’s while defrauding the state’s foster-care system so she can live alone, but because she wrangles the McFry vats without suffering any acne.
Charlie believes there’s a trove of Spanish doubloons buried somewhere in Southern California suburbia. Miranda rolls her eyes as Charlie deduces the treasure’s location through a series of code-breaking and map- wrangling.
Turns out the gold is buried beneath a Costco, and, if found, would be even more fulfilling than getting one of their churros. Miranda is a hard sell, but eventually Charlie gets her to come around, convincing her that a life lacking a good Costco dig or two is hardly a life well-lived.
The upbeat tone is soured by flashbacks to Miranda as a child — played by Allisyn Ashley Arm — being crushed by her parents’ wild ways. A failed jazz musician, businessman and — most tragically — daddy, Charlie is taking yet another wild swipe at the success and glory that have always eluded him. His quixotic exuberance is arresting, but as Miranda is all too aware, it doesn’t pay the bills. She acts as a skeptical parent to her father’s wild child.
You stick with the narrative more out of a sense of obligation than genuine interest, hoping all the nuttiness is channeling into some sort of transcendent epiphany, but your hopes are as irrational as Charlie’s.
