Kid punches mother over Halo 3; fights with police

An Indian River County youth has been accused of assaulting his mother and attacking police, all because he was ordered to stop playing Halo 3. According to TCPalm, trouble began when the youth (whose name and age cannot be stated for legal reasons) was told by his mother to turn off his Xbox 360 as it was getting late. After he refused, his mother took his “air card” (Wi-Fi adaptor) from the 360, preventing him from playing online and prompting a fit of rage that would see the child frantically search through the house, before punching his mum in the face.

The kid then retreated to his room, but soon had to deal with local Sheriff’s deputies, whom his mum had called following the assault. The deputies entered his room using a key kept by the mother, but also fell foul to the youth’s rage: he managed to punch one deputy square in the face before being restrained and handcuffed. He would later be turned over to the state juvenile authorities of charges of battery-domestic violence and battery on a law enforcement officer.

    Halo sucks.

Kid should be given capital punishment.

    First, for punching his mother.
    Second, for playing Halo.
Third, for punching his mother because of Halo.

I’m ready to bet that many people are actually very happy that this is happening, because this is the real reason of all these crazy games. The sad thing is that this is only the begining…

If you believe that the gaming industry is just about writing innocent code, to entertain some teens, you must start thinking out of the box.

I’m looking forward to see when the kids will start killing their parents, when the real chaos will begin.

Strange, I’ve played violent shoot ‘em up and fighting video games for over a decade (I started playing them around age 10); Lo and behold, I have never gone on a real-life killing spree. Why? The real problem is online gaming not the game itself.

Online gaming addiction is hard to control. Especially if you’re still a kid and still do not know priorities through self control. You can see psychological abuse through online gaming and that itself is a factor (though not a major) in contributing violence.

I give credit to Mr.X for this post. Thanks for not posting any more porns.

Yeah right why do you want that? Could it be just so you can incorrectly claim, your equally perverse and misguided idea that ‘games are coded by the devil’ or whatever dingbat, off the back of a cereal box belief, you half wittedly subscribe to would be proven right?

And here I was believing the USians had the whole aspect of “tough love” covered, and “all dat”! Following such admirable principles would imply that the mother fetched her PKM from the garage, and then proceeded to empty the entire ammobox through the door and walls. A win-win situation: mom fixed aggro-kid, kid get to play Halo with a shiny new halo…

This kid is a douchebag because his parents let him grow up in an environment where he was allowed to be a douchebag. I honestly feel sympathy for this child. No matter what he did it likely could have been avoided if proper parenting was used in his younger years. Moving on from that, state and local police should NEVER be involved in parent/child disputes… that is just ignorance. Mrs. Dumb(unt should have just left the house and let the little b4stard calm down. Bringing cops into the matter just makes it worse, at this point he’s probably going to be so traumatized by the entire even that he’ll become a f*cking serial killer and never touch a video game again.

funny how people are usually short-minded. they are given two facts they belief it’s cause and effect. halo wasn’t the REASON why he hitted his mother. HE WAS ANGRY. halo was just a catalizator – it could have been any thing in fact, ex. salty soup. but it wouldn’t be a BIG DEAL – it happens everyday.

real problem is his inability of controlling his anger, which came out of that no one showed him how to deal with his emotions. and i’m talking here about his mother too.

You are more than extremely right. There’s a hell of a lot of psychology behind the way this kid was acting out, and I’m sure you could dive much deeper than just that. But good for you, I’m glad someone else said it before I had to.

You’re totally wrong. He went off on his mother like that because of “salty soup”?? This mother first needs throw the XBox360 in the trash, ground the kid for a year, and smack him upside his head next time he even talks to her the wrong way.

He shouldn’t have any free time to be playing video games, he should spend the time studying how to have some manners and learning how to honor his mother and father.

I am sure this kids rump will look like it went ten rounds with a saw blade after this. I am glad I don’t play online no more. Punched his mother in the face… this kid obviously has a mountain of problems, i believe Halo contributed to some frustration, but im 100% sure it isnt the main reason he went psycho on his mother. I was brought up with violent movies and games since i was like 9 years old, it might sound stupid of my parents but i NEVER EVER hit nor went crazy on them, the violence never affected me in any way, if anything it made me a better person, but hey, there’s alot of fu*ked up parents out there too.

I simply LOVE how people always choose a cop-out for their problems. Hell, he could have slapped his mom with a piece of celery and then everyone would be like ‘OMG celery is a dangerous vegetable!’ I agree with the quote “Computer games don’t affect kids, I mean if Pac man affected us as kids, we’d all be running around in darkened rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music.” Seriously the kid was a little deuch bag but like everyone has said, he was probably raised as a spoiled brat.

    #14 & #22 Hit it dead on.

Halo 3 doesn’t have anything to do with the situation, its the kids upbringing. First and foremost i ask, where the hell is this kids father? Called the police because your son popped you in the mouth? LOL where do you think this kid learned conflict resolution from? Hmmmmmm yeah that would be his parent(s). This kid obviously doesn’t have a father that lives in the house, because everyone knows what would happen if their father found out that you hit your mother……yeah not pretty.

Now he is in the American judicial system which is 100% stacked against children. He will be found guilty of anything that he is charged of and likely put on probation which is very stacked against the offender and it is quite possible that his life could be ruined by this very situation. All because his parent(s) couldn’t raise him right. Good job, everyone just lost….. lets blame Halo 3.

Gotta love how this is going to end up as a “Video games cause violent behavior in kids” argument. Let’s just totally go over the fact that the parent started the kids fit by taking a part of his system and hiding it on him. Mind you if the kid was going nuts over something like that then he must have been a bit stuffed up to begin with.

But hey, they mentioned a video game, so it’s going to be the video games fault.

Everyone is going about this the wrong way. Where’s the father at? If I had a son and he hit his mother, I’d take the kid to a local gym with a boxing ring and put a pair of gloves on the both of us. Then I’d teach the kid a lesson he’d never forget. If he’s prepared to hit a woman he better be prepared to be hit by a man.

Then of course when we got back home after the ass whuppin’ I’d bust his game console and every game up into small pieces.

And on topic, yeah, I gotta say that this kid probably has been walking all over his parents for a long time now and it’s thier fault for allowing it to happen and not being proactive in thier kids life. period. I would have gotten my a$$ torn off for doing anything remotely like what that kid did.

    Hahaaha… i love these topics:

First of all … Games, videogames, ludo and whatever, doesn’t cause violence. If you have a crazy ass kid, addicted to something – it can be halo – drugs… sugar… i don’t care. If you take it away, he will be annoyed. And if he only learned to react by using violence – THEN THAT’S THE F… king mothers FAULT!

The only thing wrong with this story, is that a midget didn’t come running in – as the cop and mother was lying on the floor; pointing and going: Pwned!

What a freaking loser kid, if I heard of one of my friends punching his mom I would beat the (You know What) out of him right after he got out of Juve. I would then tell him it is just a freaking game, and to get a life. I have been playing violent games since I was a kid also and never once have I assaulted anyone. The issue is on the inside, if the the parent care about there children and discipline them, teach them respect, and discernment and responsibility these issues would not be occurring. Come on people get a clue

    @14
    I think u got it right…
Nothing is as simple as to just blame a game. Its the parents, the milieu, the situation, just everything!
    Poor kid -.-

This is completely normal for a kid.
Seriously. Most people will as a kid perform something just as ‘bad’. I know I did…

Maybe it is the puberty + hormones.

Hmmm video game noted as a cause.

No one’s looking at the parenting skills here. A kid that flips out when told by a parent to do something stems from poor parenting. Shut up kid, turn off you game, go to bed. Parents, do your damn job and shape the kid’s habits instead of letting devices do it for your lazy arse.

    @Harold

I’d tend to agree with you about black males. Just ask any group of black women. There has been a trend lately in America for black women to seek out white men because they know that man will be more faithful to them. There are statistics out there on this. They are raised to stick to their race though and stand by the black man that cheats on them.

This isn’t racist or prejudice. It’s a statistical fact. But that’s for another time and place to discuss.

In regards to this article though, I’ve seen my share of single white mothers too. None of them are capable of raising a kid properly. They can say all they want to but in reality without the proper male father figure in their life they get out of control. It happens with boys and girls. None of them respect their single mother raising them.

If there were a father there then the cops would have never been involved. The father would do as I would. That’s what this kid really needs. He doesn’t need time in jail. He needs a father and 10 minutes in a ring with that father. The kid would never touch his mother like that ever again.

    November 4th, 2007 | 08:35

Yea, what kind of father does this kid have? That guy let his wife get beaten by their own kid. He should have at least tried to protect his wife.

I don’t understand why parents nowadays are so unwilling to give their kids a smack upside the head when they deserve it. Too busy trying to be “friends” with their kids instead of teaching them right from wrong. Jeeez. :(

    November 4th, 2007 | 09:25

Well, the articles keeps referring to parents and not to parent so both parents were present. The presence of a father does not prevent such actions.

First off, what happened to obeying the parents? Hey, if that rule was cool enough to be put in the Bible….

Secondly, too much of a good thing isn’t exactly good. The parent(s) probably didn’t teach the kid about taking things in moderation.

Third, I was one of the kids that was brought up during the first video game wave with the Atari 2600. My parents taught me well about when to play and how long to play, something the kid never was taught, apparently.

The kid did a stupid thing, something that will haunt the kid and perhaps be taunted about, for example….

Kid 1: I’m here in jail because I hit someone while driving drunk.

Kid 2: I robbed someone of Sixty Dollars in order to buy a rock.

Kid 3: I beat down a guy because I hate Homosexuals.

Kid 4: I hit my Mom and a cop because she made me stop playing HALO 3.

    ….and the taunting continues…..

    @39 Notn4,

Maybe you spoke too soon. Read today’s headlines in Finland.

“At least eight people were killed when an 18-year-old gunman opened fire at a school in Finland Wednesday…”

Besides, if you don’t like America, then stop playing their games and watching their movies. I know that won’t happen.

Ok, this post is finished, let’s move on….
