i think KIS and KAV v8 products are still in BETA..i think its wise to avoid antivirus and firewall prgrams that are in beta and wait for a FINAL

    Yes, because it is free.

So the Kas Anti-virus only isnt out final yet :( , I dont really need internet security features. I only need the anti-virus. I am using the new nod32 AV. I dont think it is doing anything though, I had avast installed and it was blocking trojans while nod32 doesnt seem to be doing anything :/.

    November 4th, 2007 | 22:16

The latest release is Kaspersky Internet Security v8.0.0.36 Alpha 2. No final version yet.

Nod32 does a great job. Avast has a lot of false positives. Also, the firewall from Eset is really good, too.

  11. SpAnKy
    November 4th, 2007 | 22:26

yer but remember nod32 has high rate of false positives…i use KAV 7.0.0.125 :D

  12. SLowpc
    November 4th, 2007 | 22:30

Yea , running 7.0.0.125 here and working great.

  13. Thraprod
    November 4th, 2007 | 22:31

Think you confused Nod with another program. Nod has very few false positives. Nod and Kasp are pretty on par with each other.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention rlslog.

Just for the record, 8.0.0.33 is an ALPHA release which is very unstable…. the firewall isn’t even implemented in this version…there is none!

If you install this nobody is going to help you clean this up.

  15. Kaspersky_employee
    November 4th, 2007 | 22:39

And these lamers didn’t even crack our program…those are public beta keys available freely through our website..how cool is that!

  16. November 4th, 2007 | 22:41

@ 14. & 15. Wow, what a nice marketing for your own company… Shitting on your own product… I like this part “If you install this nobody is going to help you clean this up.”… :-)

Whats the best anti-virus to use? I use Norton 360 right now. It works great but its a resource hog.

  29. Lol_Gadaffi
    November 5th, 2007 | 00:45

@29 use the FREE software from AVG or Avast (google it)

    http://www.grisoft.com

The fact remains, anyone who uses cracked security software is an idiot.

    Think about it.

  30. injctr

agree! NEVER use cracked security software

  31. linzy
    November 5th, 2007 | 01:48

how can u say using cracked security software is stupid! I’ve been using cracked security software for at least the past 5 years and have never encountered a problem.

You’re the idiot for going out and buying the software!

  32. Thraprod
    November 5th, 2007 | 01:49

Heh. My antivirus isn’t cracked, but I would use cracked before using AVG. In the past week alone I’ve had to fix six people’s computers from AVG failing to do a decent job.

  33. MarcusVR
    November 5th, 2007 | 02:03

I always download security software from the developer’s site, and just use those wich I don’t use a crack, but only a serial or a .REG file that I can open and examine before apply, like Kaspersky – I use the last stable version, 7.0.0.125.

I think that if a guy may hack the software protection, he also may insert a trojan or malicious code it into the program… So I don’t trust hacked security software!

Lol alpha. Stick with 7.0.0.125 as everyone else says. Though I dunno about the beta 7.0.0.256 and up and how well they fare yet. I had a key for 2009 of October but deleted the key after inputing activation then it says too many users regged. Bad of me :/

I’ve been running Firefox with NoScript for six month on one of my computers; without any antivirus or securitysoftware. I have of course not installed any suspicious stinkware, or any of its kind. I installed kav7.0.0.125 and did a scan of about 1.5TB of files. I found only one single potent threat in an old keymaker, and nothing else…
I’m now running kav7.0.1.256 without any problems. Since I’m not connected to any intra or wifi; I see no need of running KIS

depend on what kind of antivirus you need. I keep only AVG for on demand scan (really don’t need realtime protection which is for don’t skilled pc user). I do a scan only on suspicious file (like attachment, crack ecc). Note that Avg in Av-comparatives take a 97% in on-demand scan and that is what i need. Obviously i run behind a good firewall and always noscript on firefox! ciao a tutti!:)
