Kane and Lynch Dead Men-HATRED
Kane and Lynch: Dead Men is a new game from the people who make the Hitman series of stealth shooters. This game however is a 3rd person shooter with some squad tactics thrown in as well. Kane and Lynch has been quite heavily hyped and even has Lionsgate buying out the rights to make a film adaptation. However the game review sites are only giving it mediocre scores, usually between the 6/7 out of 10. Not great but it could provide a few hours of entertainment, just don’t expect to be blown away.
Description: After the tragic death of his son, Kane leaves his family and becomes a member of The 7 – an elite mercenary group. After years of being at the top of their game, a mission in Venezuela goes terribly wrong. Kane escapes with the loot as the only survivor, but is caught and sentenced to death. But not all of The 7 did die. They want the loot back and they want to deliver the punishment due to a traitor – death to him and his family. Kane is busted out of the prison van and offered a deal by The 7. His wife and daughter will be spared if he returns the loot. He will still be killed. Lynch, a medicated psychopath sentenced to death for the murder of his wife, is busted out of prison with Kane to be his watchdog and make sure he fulfils the deal. Kane – an experienced mercenary with everything to lose, and Lynch – an unpredictable psychopath with everything to gain, are thrown together in an intense, volatile alliance. No means are too harsh as they fight to save Kane’s family and take revenge on The 7, hating each other every step of the way

I can’t play this. I don’t meet the requirements. Along with Crysis, Unreal T3 (plays Horribly), Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (plays horribly), GOW, and Bioshock. I can play COD4 in low quality but that still looks amazing

halo 3 and this game are of different genres, so you can’t really compare them.but if you look at other aspects, like graphics, music, multiplayer etc. i guess halo would be better.
note: i haven’t played halo 3 and neither am i planning to play

Only Gamespot gave this a bad review, the others have it at 8+ so it a good game. Another awsome feature is the coop that………..for the first time in a PC game (since Serious Sam) is………….SPLITSCREEN. So download this, call a friend and tell him to bring his gamepad and then kill some cops in Kane & Lynch, I honestly can’t wait to have it.

Splitscreen in a PC game is stupid because most people don’t have their computers hooked up to huge TVs (which is the only reason splitscreen works on consoles to begin with). To me having splitscreen as the only option for multiplayer in PC game just tells me this is one lazy-ass console to PC port.
Buying a couple of gamepads and hauling my PC to the TV should not be required to play multiplayer.

This game has online multiplayer too, but just not coop. Because of the complexity of the singleplayer campaign there was no way for the developers to make coop online.
Also, there is no need for a big screen TV to play splitscreen, a widescreen LCD will do the job, trust me.

What is the deal with all the big releases so far. Not that 7+GB is a big deal but damn thats a load of bandwith in a couple of days to download something that may suck.
WHY OH WHY OH WHY did they have to drop the online co-op??? Blacksite: Area 51 dropped co-op and now Kane of Lynch. It’s like the only way to play co-op is with strategy games.

You do need at least 1 xbox 360 controller plugged into your pc to play co-op splitscreen tho i read somewhere…

No, the game is working fine. The problem is windowslive. The game crashed for me, but after I uninstalled windowsblind, the crashing went away. great game!

windows blind is like a theme manager for xp/vista. Go into start, run, type msconfig Uncheck all the programs that you dont need in the “services” and “startup tab” you can also press control,alt,delete and end all the processes in there that you dont need as well. Gears of War has the same problem because it uses windowslive. Check the epicforums, people have posted some fixes that might work if these dont. cheers =)
Yes, you can play without windowslive, but you wont be able to save your progress. When the game crashes, DONT press close on the error tab. Just tab the game back in, and you can resume play like normal. Only problem is that you cant save =(
when it crashes its the error sayes there is a prob with the exe. thats why i think the crack doesnt work. i tryt all that what u told me i Uncheck all the programs that i dont need. but still doesnt work. the error says that the kane&lynch.exe must be shut down bla bla

mhh still not working .. i think its a prob with the crack because the Launcher.exe is quiet small only 288 kb maybe we need a propper exe.i hope there will be one soon.

Nothing is wrong with the “fix”. The problem is with windowslive so you have to wait for microsoft to fix that.

mine works fine finished it today , i dont know what to tell you tho if you go to gamecopyworld they have a crack which seems to work fine for me didnt crash once the whole time

I don’t think the problem has to do with the crack, because this game is running perfectly on my system. Maybe there is a conflict with your video card, not enough ram, or something. I’m running this in SLI mode with 2 geforce 8800 gts cards. I’ve played this for a couple of hours now, and so far this is by far one of the coolest games I’ve played in a long time. The graphics are fantastic, the environments are pretty complex, and the action is even better. Its great to be able to play as a criminal instead of a good guy, and shoot people instead of monsters/aliens. Only bug I’ve encountered so far happened in the bank robbery scene. As the van was pulling away from the lobby, it fell down through the floor into an infinite white void, just before the next scene loaded. It didn’t cause the game to crash though. I still can’t believe this game got poor reviews, I love everything about it. It has a sick sense of humor to it which I think is great.
when i first launched the game i chosed no using windowslive.
it showed me the intro video and after half a minute browsing the options that game just crashed without any error…
tryed opening it once again and it says “loading” and then crashes again.
even tryed uninstalling and reinstall but its the same…..

I don’t think, that the problem has to do something with videocards with not enough ram or something like that. 256MB are more than enough for this game, because in my opinion the graphics are not the best and can’t keep up with other new engines, however I think the game has a good atmosphere, good story and you are/become the “bad” guy
DOES WORK.. WHEN the error appear press nothing.. just press tab or use your mouse to open the game again (which is in the windows bar at the bottom).

i downloaded the hatred version. upon extraction..it said the file is broken…but the iso created was over 8gb. installed the game fine. it recognized my account from gears of war.(live account)..but it gets stuck on the first mission screen when i press accept. help?

thanks for the release. now, does anybody else get some problems with sound? I remember having a similar problem with F.E.A.R. where the music was playing but no sound effects or voice can be heard. The odd thing is, that when I replayed the first mission with a different sound setting (three options, Optimal software/hardware, and something else) I chose the third one. It had some of the voice, and a few sound effects, but it wouldnt recognize everything all at once. I won’t go into details, but does anybody know what’s going on? All i know is that my soundcard is not seperate, it came with the motherboard, all in there already.
hi guys am having problems getting this game to load is there a way to run it, without having xlive as its comming up with a error missing xlive.dll try to install windows live but it says needs service pack 2 or above havent got any service packs installed as its a non upgradable xp any

@111: you probably should try re-installing it then. its not a problem with ur hardware. its the game i think. you can confirm that bu running any other game. try to make sure you install it properly without errors.
and it doesnt matter if i sign into windows live or not. the game still crashes for me. but it does play the cutscene 5 secs more when im not signed in
@112 how is it non upgradable? must be pirated im assuming? well go through the readme. it has alot of info about issues with service packs

I am having the same crashing problem game just dies after a min or so. Thing is the Razor 1911 release of Gears of War had the same issue that they had to release another cracked exe for. Seems to be a problem with cracking copy protection in combination with the MS Live stuff built into the game.
Works for me, just installed apply patch and go.
BTW i do like the game. pretty fun blasting cops.

FINALLY!!! I GOT IT TO WORK!!
for vista 32-bit users:
-make sure you have latest vaideo card drivers
-make sure you have latest audio card drivers (yes this is imp)
-apply the crack from gamecopyworld or the one provided with the release
-just run the game as adminstrator (you can change the properties so it runs in admin mode every time you play it)
and thats it. running as admin solved the problem for me. game works perfectly now.
@113: I re-installed the game, crap-cleaned it, deleted folder, restarted. Same old thing, I’m on third level..when the game loads, I see the subtitles and I can hear what they’re saying – dark screen. But just when it gets into the game, nothing they say can be heard, only subtitles. No sound effects, just music. What’s up with that? Is anybody having this problem ?

qwerty is right, IF you are having AUDIO problems UPDATE YOUR AUDIO CARD DRIVERS! I just did that, restarted and the sound is normal. Phew! !

I still have the crash-problem and I can’t play again by pressing tab or something like that. I have to receipt the error, restart the game and play the scene from beginning. Mostly it works and the error appears on another place later. Yesterday evening I could play with 3 restarts 3 Scenes.
Now I’m fleeing with Lynch and the driver by car and shooting at squad cars.
I have audio-problems, too. But only the voices are sometimes too quiet…searching for new drivers, even though my audio-drivers are 4 weeks old.
Can anyone help me? Whenever I try to extract the files from .roo, winrar tells me that start from a previous file in order to extract it.
That’s because you need to extract from the .rar file.
I’m getting the error when I try to run the executable – says kaneandlynch.exe has encountered a problem and has to close… I don’t have windowslive so I doubt that is the problem. I don’t get into the game at all, it simply crashes about 2 secs after double-clicking the exe.
I’m running Windows XP SP2 on Core 2 Duo @ 3.2Ghz, 2GB RAM, Radeon HD 2900 at stock settings. All drivers are up to date.
There seems to be 2 problems circulating – 1 is it crashes, like mine, on trying to run the game or 2 it crashes in-game. Hopefully a fix will be released soon.

Does anyone know how to get past the part of the jungle mountain level where you have to help Carlos get inside the hacienda gates? He keeps getting killed by a mortar or grenade just before getting in, but because I can’t see the where the mortar/grenade comes from I can’t do anything to stop it. Is there a way to get down into the valley with him?

the game seems to start normally but as soon as the “connected profile Icon” cames up it freezes all up! I don’t even reach the main game menu…
Strange thing is that if I alt-tab the game and get back to it it keeps going on for about 3 secs before freezing again! All on my PC is up-to-date! Bizarrething is that I tried to install it on another computer (inferior and not updated…) and all seems to work just fine!

Does anybody have a fix for alle the different crashing-problems? Yesterday i could play the same scene thrice and at each attempt it crashed at another point so I’m still at that fu**ing scene. It steels all game-fun.
why the hel-l dont micro$oft get the finger out of their as.s and fix windows live, they’re one of the richest companies in the world, lazy bums.
I’m getting random crashes on this too – no error message or anything, game plays fine, but at some point it always crashes to desktop. No errors, nothing…game just closes and I’m left looking at my desktop. And never at the same point – sometimes it happens in the menus, sometimes in the first chapter, sometimes in the fifth. Any ideas? All my drivers are up to date, running Windows XP, my machine is more than up to the required specs….
I can’t say this fix will work for everyone however I can say it does work for me.
First of all the random crashes don’t appear to be related to drivers. I crashed multiple times with an old Nvidia driver on my 8600GT and haven’t crashed since after completing a few things below.
Secondly the crashing seems to be related to a few things such as:
* Not playing the game in administrator mode
* Attempting to play the game with a cracked .exe file while logged into Games for Windows with an ONLINE account
If you already have a Games for Windows offline account you SHOULD be able to simply access the game in administrator mode and it should (possibly stop crashing for you)
1. You MUST be logged in as administrator OR you must operate the game in administrator mode by either Shift + Right Mouse button click on the launcher.exe file, then selecting “run as” (of course you must have an admin login and password)
1a. Alternately you can make a shortcut for your launcher.exe file then right click on that shortcut, select properties, click the Advanced button, and put a check in the box labeled “Run with different credentials”
2. When the Games for Windows login appears DO NOT LOGIN TO GAMES FOR WINDOWS if you already have a GFW ONLINE account.
3. Type in a login name ONLY AND NOTHING ELSE. Once your login name is complete (this creates a Games for Windows OFFLINE account) press enter. REMEMBER DO NOT TYPE ANYTHING IN THE OTHER BOXES.
4. Complete the first mission in the game until you escape in the van THEN exit the game normally.
5. Go back into the game and your Games for Windows offline login should automatically login for you and you can access your saved game and play without random crashes.
So far using this method I’ve been able to play for 3 hours straight with no crashes. Previously I crashed every 10 – 15 minutes.
I forgot to say that you may have to uninstall and re-install the game.
my game has been running perfectly since i ran it in admin mode and updated ALL drivers, even for the sound card.
anyway, just a quick question…im in the middle of the game..is it ok if I run gears of war with the SAME local account and keep my saved checkpoints in both games? not totally familiar with Windows Live so im a bit hesitant installing two games which use it at the same time. dont wana mess up my progress at the sake of another game.

Working fine here. I blocked it with my firewall and when it tried to get me to sign up for Windowslive I escaped out and it loaded.
Very disappointed in this game though. The animation is so stiff and awkward and the gameplay is pretty shallow. I am intrigued by the story though so am striving through it.

Great game… If you are having problems getting this to work follow instructions at posts 140, 141, and 142.
Overall I’d rate this game a 7.5 out of 10. If it weren’t for the ending this would be a 8.5 out of 10.

There are 2 endings depending on your choice near the end of the game, quite possibly there may be 3 endings. Save the sniper rifle and some grenades and you might possibly (although I’m not sure) be able to have the ending you’ve been striving for throughout the game.

Hi peeps with sound problems. I have had trouble with speach not working over and over in the past.
The problem does not usually occur when you are using a stereo setup.
I do allot of tech support and on a daily basis I can talk to people until I’m blue in the face and they still don’t know what I’m talking about:

(the windows xp sound config is similar to the vista one, and both are found in the control pannel)
Many games are only designed to work with a stereo setup. As unbelievable as it seems, many game developers haven’t heard of a little thing called surround sound…
So you have to go into your sound preferences in the control pannel and change your speaker setup to 2 speaker.
If the game supports 5.1 or 7.1 you may also need to change the settings in the game’s audio menu.
I’m not sure about the speciffic situation with Kane & Lynch.
If your missing the speach, it’s because it’s being directed to the center speaker, which is not active.
It’s like when you turn on your DVD player but don’t get a picture cause it’s not connected to your TV!
Most sound configuration software has a speaker test feature whereby you can test that all the speakers are outputting sound.
You may even have the speaker plugs hooked up in the wrong jacks!
The colour coded plugs are often mismatched from where they should actually be placed.
wtf, downloaded this game, installed, ran launcher. It has flickering menu, i cannot change options(game crashes) and when starting new game it crashes either in the middle of loading or after few seconds of cutscene.
All is good with system requirements, amd 64 x2 dual core 5200+, 2gb ram, geforce 8600gt(169.09 beta driver)
well, it turned out i can still play game after alttab.
game is good enough, but it still not as good as hitman.
quite different, more like max payne.
You don’t need to sign into Windows Live.
I tried many times and since I had no cd-key, it gave error.
Then it struck me: Press ESC on windows live login screen and SPACE to get into game main menu. Easy.
Still crashes after 3 mins or so though: Downloading newer audio drivers now, though I have no belief in it.

OK i was from the many guys that didn’t meet the requirements an then after almost a month i said what the heck lets try it dl it install it and see for my self my fellow lechers the surprise was fantastic and absolutely frustrating cause i was late as i can play the game in high graphics at 1280 by 1024 with an ati radeon X800 my processor is indeed an amd athlon 1800+ but SOMEBODY CHANGE THE RECS CAUSE THE GAME IS FREAKIN AWESOME mistakes are human but we have to fix’ em right?

there were so many bad reviews for this game i almost didn’t download it, and when i played it it was awesome, has some problems (but witch game doesn’t), the another thing that i didn’t like was the size of the game 7.21 GB *because of multi language)
they should start making English only (rip them) like the game “The Witcher” (org. size of the games was 6GB and it was riped from Dopeman to only 3GB)

My specs are good 4 this game but I have read many issues = crashing. I could not get stranglehold to run and my specs were fine for that game also so Im unsure as to what to expect.

kane and lynch got installed and is running perfectly with no crashes uptil now. i am using vista 32bit xfx nvidia 8800gts along with quad core processor and 2gb ram . however during the game when i move the mouse across the environment it produces a pausing movement . same applies to spiderman 3 while swinging , sometimes it produces the same problem . i have been trying searching for this prob 4 quite sometime now but i couldnt find the possible solution . plz help !!
