Journey To The Center Of The Earth 3D DVDRip XViD-PUKKA

PUKKA released the regular DVDRip 5 days ago and today they release the 3D DVDrip, of course in order to experience the 3D action, you’ll need some 3D glasses. I guess you can go to your local department store, like Wal-Mart in buy some or you can follow the picture with intructions PUKKA gave us. To try and make your own 3D Glasses.

During a scientific expedition in Iceland, visionary scientist Trevor Anderson (Brendan Fraser), his nephew Sean (Josh Hutcherson) and their beautiful local guide, Hannah (Anita Briem), are unexpectedly trapped in a cave from which their only escape is to go deeper and deeper into the depths of the Earth. Traveling through never-before-seen worlds, the trio comes face-to-face with surreal and unimaginable creatures–including man-eating plants, giant flying piranha, glow birds and terrifying dinosaurs from days past. The explorers soon realize that as volcanic activity increases around them, they must find a way back to the earth’s surface before it is too late.

Looks like from the sample this uses the old style psudeo 3D that is nothing like the 3D you’ll see at an IMAX. I guess that makes sense as you would need special glassess synched to the frame rate of the film for it to work.

Wow, i thought this sentence was absurd but then wikipedia told me better… still most 3d-cinemas use the “old” way, with above described glasses… and i’ve been sometimes, it really feels real, i guess you don’t really need those shutterglasses…

Ah, you DO need a cinema though, watching 3d-movies on a 22-inch-screen just sucks… Ok, it’s a step in the right direction, but nothing more.

    Off topic:

I’ve been wondering why sceners or p2p sharers do this. They have their own groups, they rip movies, record movies from theaters, supply subtitles, etc for us to download. I mean, is this a competition for the sceners for fame? The real question is:

What is the catch of all this? What do they get in return?

Do they embed trojans, spywares, or malwares with their releases to have access to our bank accounts or something?

Not sure if those 3D glasses will work. The ones we were given here at the cinema were clear plastic, not coloured to the naked eye but I assume each lens was polarised differently.

They didn’t even collect them after the show, and these were proper plastic frame glasses, not cardboard cutout things.

So I’m not sure if you actually need polarised lenses or if the tinted/coloured stuff will properly duplicate the same effect.

Not that it matters.. movie was frackin dismal. It’s like a game that uses the latest DirectX version just came out - content is pathetic but ooh it’s shiny.

Take my advice and see the original movie from way back.
Beats the crap out of ALL the remakes since.

In case anyone is interested, i just downloaded the sample clip and viewed it with cheap 3d glasses, the kind that are just cardboard with 2 color lenses. Anyway the clip did NOT display any 3d effects with glasses at all. I have used same glasses to test nvidia’s stereo 3d drivers for gameplay. when the nvidia test image is played, the image comes right out of the TV and 8 feet into the room ,rotates 360 degrees and then zooms back into the tv again. Now Thats what 3d should do! i didnt bother with downloading the movie since the sample didnt have 3d qualities.

From what I saw in the video sample, the two main colors were “green and purple!”"! Are they using a new type of colored glasses for this dvd(and blu-ray,for those with the money)release? I hope it’s just an incorrect color transfer to xvid.

The video sample is 3d. I used the “red and blue” glasses to view the 3d. The glasses work. It has the 3d look….But it is very weak. The weakness is because of the wrong color seperation (see comment 35). Oh, by the way, the red part should cover the your left eye!

a bit of advice for anyone who has ever forgotten to return their glasses to seaworld movieworld ect..they will never ever work with any form of home style 3d..those cinemas use 2 projectors in line..there are 3 types of 3 d glasses..there are shutter glasses red cyan.and the type that use 1 sise glasses the other side is clear.. dont ever think you can use shutter glasses on a lcd tv.or a lcd projector.as they wont work because the refresh rate is much too slow..if you have a old type tv crt red blue will work.and they will also work with a dlp projector not a lcd..unless you have a projector worth around the 20.000 dollar mark..hope this helps..

more advice for cam quality viewing.put a pair of polaroid sunglasses on.it will clear up the image a lot.as it takes a lot of the snowy image away.and darkens the grey heaps..not too dark glasses ..let me know what you think..i tell a lot of people this and they all comment on the difference..but never can you better the image than of a dvd quality..sunglasses sometimes give the picture a more 2d effect..try using the red blue glasses onconcerts and movies..it sometimes gives a good effect also..graeme.

The 3D does work… I’ve download Jaws 3D, Spy Kids 3D, Shrek 3D (short movie), and they all work with the red / cyan glasses. The trick is to get the colour balance right on your TV / Monitor. Also, it works better on Plasma / LCD TV rather than CRT.

Here’s a link to a colour testing clip for 3D films. Run this clip and calibrate your TV to it:

Red on the left eye and Blue on the right doesn’t produce any 3D effects, this is the standard setup for this type of 3D. However, if you switch the colours, Red on right, Blue on left you do get a 3D effect, not very strong but you get the idea.

    Just scene on movie site:

The Warner Home Video Bluray/DVD release of Journey to the Centre of the Earth in 3D is reported to be green/red rather than blue/red.

    USE THE ***RIGHT GLASSES*** !!!
Clear glasses from the cinema (modern polarized) = WRONG!!!
Red and Blue glasses = WRONG!!!

There are many, many forms of old-school film 3D, some designed to give a black-and-white effect, and some (like this film) designed to give as full colour a picture as possible. In general, with any 3D film of this type, look at the two colours visible in the major ‘fringes’ visible on some of the frames. These colours should match the colours of the plastic/glass in your glasses.

This film has yellow and purple fringes, hence you should have glasses with the same coloured plastic. These type of glasses are FAR less common than the red/blue type, so you probably won’t have any kicking about!

The Red & Cryan glasses don’t work. The nearest ones which do work are colorcode 3d glasses. If future 3d films are released in this format then you’ll need them.

The red/blue glasses worked for me, BUT, viewing the movie thru these glasses made the picture too dark to see. What kind/color glasses will be used with the retail version? Might give us an idea what to use.
