John Adams Part1-3 HDTV XviD-LOL
John Adams is a 7-part HBO miniseries produced by Tom Hanks that runs as a biopic of John Adams and the story of the first fifty years of the United States. The HBO series has received an almost 9.9/10 rating by each of the 25 voters on imdb, either proving a grand conspiracy by the cast and crew or real viewers who were amazed. The TV.com rating also pins the show a Superb 9.3 with 51 votes. The series runs until April 20. The first three episodes I have posted at once, since I did not start watching until today. Further on, there will be weekly postings of the HDTV and 720p releases when available.

This is a great miniseries that shows the true spirit of America!
was able to catch the 3 episodes on hbo hd during this weekend, which was a free weekend for cable customers. decided to order hbo so I can catch the rest of this series. Well made and great actors.
HBO make a lot of good shows. But seeing as I found Band of Brothers boring, unrealistic and overly nationalistic I think I will stay away from this one.

I’ve been watching this on HBO and it’s excellent being both well acted with full movie quality production values and historically accurate. I shall look forward to the rest of it.

This show would have been better if it were 50min instead of this hour and a half nonsense. My ADD kicks in after 50 min and it’s difficult to tolerate the rest.

Rome, HBO, The Wire, Deadwood, Extras are all much better HBO/BBC series. Any realistic show has to realise that most soldiers in the past were a bunch of drunken and bigoted rapists and murderers. They tend to ignore this because it is hard to glorify.

Most soldiers today are different although some of them are still crazy. The levels of rape among women serving in Iraq attest to that.
I can say that as late as World War 2 the common soldier was not a heroic character. They were there mostly there for the money or because they had no alternative (conscription). They were racist and sexist (pretty much everyone was back then)and mainly interested in women and drink. It seems most productions try to glorify these men who did what they had to do just like anyone would do if the same situation arose today. A more realistic portrayal of WW2 should have the men mostly talking about ‘the b*tches they f*cked’ in their last stop over. But people don’t want to see that.
Seems it is taboo to think of soldiers past and present as anything less than angels. Particularly in times of war.

Actually they have shown some black soldiers which wasn’t particularly uncommon, but as for slaves, John Adams refused to own slaves throughout his lifetime, and as the show centers around him, you don’t see too many slaves in general - at least yet. Adams felt like enslavement was a moral sin, and likely the founders would have taken a more hard lined stance if the inclusion of all the colonies into the union wasnt of utmost importance.

I agree about tom hanks, In my opinion he really started to go downhill lately. I much prefer him when he stuck to the comedy genre, any serious movie with tom hanks as the lead role loses all credibility to me. I admit He excells at cinemetography, but his projects are heavily biased, misconstrued falsehoods as with this one and band of brothers. he is now another puppet of the US government and is helping them spread more lies. He leaves out the truth, and only shows what will help further the “USA is king of the world” mentality that the government is slipping into US films, tv, and entertainment. Pick up a history book from anywhere outside the US and read about the revolution, and you will se where the lies are and how much of it is just absolutely false. or better yet, ask a native american how much of this film is correct, and how they benefitied from this great revolution, and how they enjoyed their new rights of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”

Why do people like you keep bringing up the native Americans? They lost the war against the colonists, just like the British did.
The native Americans were an undeveloped people who did not have weapons equal to the European settlers, and because of that, they were unable to fight for their land.
The British did have plenty of weapons, but since they were at war with France and Spain as well as the American colonies, they spread their resources too thin to win the American Revolution.

I just watched the first part of the series and I thought is was pretty good. Good acting, scenery is amazing.. Even the semi-old English dialogue is a credit to the serie. Gives it an authentic feel.

ANYWAYS, fantastic series. Actually studying this time period right now. A lot more indepth than any textbook. And fantastic acting. I’m sure the rest will be even better.

my son is 11 and learning about john adams and the revolutionary war era in school. for anyone who has seen this, is this appropriate for kids or more like an R rated series?
