You are absolutely right. AR is not right. Basically I have to zoom in with my sony bravia lcd to crop black side borders. Hangover release is the one that works.TESTED IT.

I have to agree, we’ve got a long to go before we see every bit of info on our home systems that’s contained in a 35mm frame of film.

I also laugh at the kids who think anything that’s made before 1980 must have a poor image quality. Can’t wait to see those old 70mm prints go to HD. Bluray won’t even come close to seeing those images in all it’s glory.

It’s been a long time since I’ve been this excited about watching movies at home. Right now is a pretty cool time for movie lover’s like us.

We haven’t seen the quality that film can produce. Blu-ray is only a fraction of full resolution film quality. To get true film quality onto a DVD format, we would need at least 200GB of space.

@27 uhhh yea it’s not like warner bros or w/e take the dvd and they’re like hey, lets just copy it and put it on blu-ray! they use actual film, and hollywood has been FILMING at resolutions that can easily be HD for YEARS.

Old movies are the same quality as the orginal dvd’s

Old movies do not magically get better in quality from DVD to BluRay

@22 I am complaining because my films are all viewed on a 720p native Front Projector so the resolution is 1280 x 720: pixel for pixel, resulting in a stunning picture. For me to view this, the image needs to be scaled and when it is then quality is reduced. Not a complaint if i were viewing a 52″ but my screen is 120″ and that’s why i am picky about quality.

Besides, if you look at any of the other older black and white releases from the other groups internal or external they always crop the width and maintain the 720p pixel height.

Also 720p is an industry standard, albeit an older one. As is it is too small for 1080p screens but to big for 720p screens.
