Jack Keane-SKIDROW

Group SKIDROW released two small games during this slow night and here’s the first of them: a funny adventure Jack Keane from German developer Deck 13. This is basically a conversion of old good LucasArts titles like Broken Sword or Monkey Island into the modern world, but it can’t be compared with the old masterpieces in terms of gameplay. Anyway, if you like point and click adventures, this can be worth downloading to kill few hours.

Jack Keane is presented in an enthralling atmosphere with masses of well-elaborated characters, plenty of cinematic cut scenes with many funny allusions to famous movies, video and computer games. Jack Keane is completely designed in 3-D and still maintains a classic adventure atmosphere.

The story starts in London, where Jack is chased by professional thugs. While escaping, he gets assigned by the queen to go the island of the evil “Doctor T.”. On the way to the island, Jack meets his dream girl Armanda and together they slowly discover the plans of the evil “Doctor” and his carnivorous plants. Will they manage to cross his plans and finally save the world?

Game features:

  • Wild and action packed point-and-click adventure game
  • Enthralling story including many allusions to famous movies and video games
  • Humorous dialogues inspired by the classic LucasArts adventures
  • Plenty of cinematic movies and cutscenes
  • More than 40 wacky characters
  • Countless adventurous locations stuffed with interaction
  • Two playable characters: The ironic, slightly clumsy daredevil Jack Keane, plus the attractive but mysterious lady, Amanda
  • 3D levels presented with state of the art special effects
  • Plenty of diverse locations such as London, Capetown and the Indian jungle

Optimum system requirements:

  • Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista
  • Intel-/AMD-CPU with 3.0 GHz
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 1.5 GB hard-disk capacity
  • DirectX 9.0c-compatible graphic card with 256 MB RAM

It’s pretty bad. Not funny, and fairly boring… German humour doesn’t translate well.

Get scummvm and play the oldies instead:

    Monkey Island 1, 2 & 3 (best to ignore the 4th imo)
Broken Sword 1 & 2 (newer 3d versions were poo)
Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis
    Day of the tentacle

The new simon the sorceror is fairly gd IF u can ignore the really bad voice acting.

Jesus christ, I sooo get the feeling of Stranglethorn Vale’s “Booty Bay” from that top picture in the article. Man, that’s scary, it’s JUST like Booty Bay but without the Goblins!

I agree with Marv. It’s not very funny and so so cliched! I think it tries to recapture the Monkey Island feel, but fails.

That site is dedicated to fan games created by the Adventure Game Studio. A free program that lets people create Sierra/Lucasarts type games. There are hundreds of games up there including remakes of Kings Quest.

I played this game a few weeks back, its not good, thats all that needs to be said. Better off digging out your old copy of Grim Fandango, or wait for a full DVD release of Sam and Max Season 2 complete.

The game is quite good for an adventure game , graphics are good , humour exists and the game has a lot of gameplay hours . Don’t be afraid to dl it.
