Iron Man SCREENER XviD-OPTiC

OPTiC brings us a VHS Screener of the Iron Man flick. From the sample, the video doesn’t look that bad, definitely a VHS screener, but I would say it is watchable if you can’t wait. The audio doesn’t sound that bad, so I guess that is a plus!

Plot:
Tony Stark is the complete playboy who also happens to be an engineering genius. While in Afghanistan demonstrating a new missile he’s captured and wounded. His captors want him to assemble a missile for them but instead he creates an armored suit and a means to prevent his death from the shrapnel left in his chest by the attack. He uses the armored suit to escape. Back in the U.S. he announces his company will cease making weapons and he begins work on an updated armored suit only to find that Obadiah Stane, his second in command at Stark industries has been selling Stark weapons to the insurgents. He uses his new suit to return to Afghanistan to destroy the arms and then to stop Stane from misusing his research

Who has honestly been waiting for this to come out online? You’re a serious loser if you truly want to see a flick but instead watch a downloaded version months later – get out of your house for one night at lease! There is something to seeing a movie in the quality it was meant for…

Oh and also: What is WITH these VHS screeners lately? Why do they even put these things on vhs? So that the prospective viewer is totally turned off by the cropping and muddy quality?

Can’t wait for another 100+ post thread by a bunch of 16-year olds whining about why the release groups put the movie to VHS. As if the groups did the transferring when they haven’t got a clue as to what they’re talking about.. and why it’s done by the studios.

Seen it at the cinema so i think i’ll wait for the dvdrip that will be released in about a month. Also people conplaining about the vhs screeners the reason they have switched to vhs instead of dvd is cause you complain and don’t download it cause its a vhs screener. So it does what they want it to do, stop you from downloading it. I’m 99% sure thats why all the screeners to come out are vhs but if i’m wrong someone correct me.

The only reason i believe that the still release movies on VHS is for commercial use. I use to work for an airline company and they show semi-new released movies like Iron Man on their in-flight movies. They usually carry about 3 or 4 movies. So in my opinion, whenever you see releases that are in VHS, it was more likely obtain from one of these sources. I guess the airline’s cant afford a dvd player to play them from. . .

    Juno-ed:

I’ve been waiting for the download! I have 3 kids at home, ages 2, 4, and 6. All of the kids want to see the movie, but my 2yo won’t sit thru a movie, and my 4yo is autistic so there’s about at 50/50 chance he might just freak out for any given reason. It’s not fair to any of them (my wife included) for me to take one and not all. After half a dozen tries at the theater, all ending in disaster, I bought a 100″ screen and HD Projector for my house.

We have to wait a bit longer to see the flix, but not as long as waiting for the DVD release. Kids are happy, wife is happy = I’m frolicking with glee! This VHS screener looks very good on my screen.

Thanks very much to all of you guys for getting these out. I REALLY appreciate it!

    Anyways, you asked. :-)

Well thanks for the explanation Barry. Aside from the not-wanting-to-wait for movies, can’t you just buy all the DVDs you want when they’re released? It’s just, for a flick like this (or Transformers, which leaked way early last year) I’d say waiting is worth it, especially if you’ve a huge HD screen to watch it on..

Also, I can smoke, drink, in the privacy of my own home, sit back in my leather lazyboy, while watching my favorite flick FOR FREE.

  63. Barry
    August 15th, 2008 | 04:33

juno-ed : for myself, I don’t really watch that many movies. The quality on an actual released DVD is far superior on my screen, but my kids don’t really care as long as it’s watchable. Plus kids tend to have the attention span of goldfish, so by the time a real DVD comes out they’ve already fixated on the next movie being advertised.

For me to be able to get a watchable copy for them within a few weeks or so of it being released in theaters is a Godsend. Plus scoring points for being the “Cool-Dad” in the neighborhood is really priceless!

10′s of thousands have no problem downloading and trying to watch a crappy cam with open air mic audio, but let a an actual screener come out and they suddenly turn into an army of ‘purists’ who are so defiled by the mere THOUGHT that they make total and complete idiots of themselves in front of god and everybody.

If you’re too ‘good’ for a screener than why did you even OPEN this thread? Why read ANY title that says it’s a screener? After all – IT’S IN THE TITLE! And why, oh WHY submit everyone to your reasoning for NOT wanting anything to do with it? If you didn’t want anything to do with it you would not have read the release, and you damn sure wouldn’t have wasted everyone’s time complaining about it.

At this time I would like to THANK those who provided this screener. The reports that it looks like a ‘cam’ are obviously coming from people with no idea what a ‘cam’ looks like. Ironman was out on a pretty good cam early on, but this release is FAR superior to any cam. Not as good as a DVD, but nowhere near as bad as the DVD purists are making it out to be.

I have nothing against purists, and I think if they want to shun the mid-releases and patiently hold out for the best that ultimately comes available they should do so. But I also think they should do it “quietly” so as not to disturb those of in the web theater who do not care what they think and will be downloading and watching the horrible bogeyman screener regardless.

I do that because I do not assign higher belief to any ‘god.’ In little-mind terms (and I am only going by your reply) that means I don’t believe in ‘God’ but simply acknowledge god. It’s a religious non-belief. And I am entitled to it.

Were you here to download the screener, or just be a smart mouth? Mommy and Daddy (note the caps – I believe in parents; although I don’t CAPITALIZE parents!) won’t let you use suck ‘l33t’ terms like ‘stfu’ – which SHOULD be capitalized, BTW, Einstein – at home so you go find places on the internet to show your ‘l33t’ skills?

Thanks for the flyupload links, they’re not my favourite (Filefront and certainly Eufiles are), but it does the trick eventually as well. ;) Wanted to see this movie for quite a while in anything-but-CAM quality. It’s funny though… Hellboy 2 will take another two months to come out here and I’ve seen it. And Iron man is out on the short long and just now a VHSScr. Oh well, that is how the scene works. Oppertunities, demand, availlability and so on. :D

Actually bizzyb0t, I did get it from that site before they deleted the links. The links would be where it says “Your Files”, and they were there when I posted the link 8 hours ago.

FYI, transferbigfiles.com doesn’t require you to use any software to d/l from them. It’s pretty clear that you can bypass the typical secondary software that is offered by vip-file and letitbit by using fullurl. You’re just being paranoid.

Weird that emil82 just posted the same link, huh? Wonder where it came from?

“Good argument, but you still didn’t make enough sense to fill a shot glass. Look, you felt the need to bring up something you don’t believe in. What ground do you really have to stand on after that?

As far as why I am here, I already posted download links to this on the first page (where I also said, in no uncertain terms, that I had already downloaded the flick elsewhere), Lol (capitalized…huh?), which is more than you’ve contributed to this point.”

I wasn’t trying to argue, and I wasn’t trying to fill up a shot glass. I didn’t feel a ‘need’ to do anything but correct your ignorance about me. And as far as contribution goes – you have NO IDEA who I am or what I have contributed, so please save the self indulgent ego-patter.

What am I supposed to say here “I contribute more than you so you have no right to your opinion”? That’s what you’re trying to pull off, and it’s lame (regardless of the fact that there is no way on god’s green earth it could be true – ESPECIALLY the fashion in which you are doing it.)

I’m still entitled to my opinion, and my believes. And I will still fire back when some OBVIOUS CHILD runs their mouth at me.

The rest of your post isn’t worth addressing. Not that any of it was – I’m just a little bored this morning. Grow up. And if you can’t do that, at least PRETEND that you are and try to act sensible. Attacking people with an opinion that THOUSANDS of posts justify just because they didn’t capitalize ‘god’ makes you a wanker. Stop it. Or I will tell your Mommy.

!!!!! A QUICK NOTE ABOUT MODERN SCREENERS !!!!!

Most of the “screeners” these days come from PPV (Pay Per View) movie channels in Hotels. They are recorded from the hotels movie channels using DVD recorders.
    =====================

    THANK YOU.

I was wondering how it is that stupid VHS quality rips are released even before DVDSCR. How in god’s name is it possible that they give priority to crappy VHS sources rather than those nice DVD screener sources? But now we know.

OH GOD I need DVDRip or 720p of this movie. Screw those cams.

I don’t like movies like Batman, Superman and the Hulk, since exibitioning your supernatural powers in tights, isn’t my idea of a solid base to create a movie from. I must say Iron Man totally came refreshing to me and I enjoyed the Screener alot, even though it is a VHS one. To the people only wanting to see 640p+ movies… “Why?”. Everything but Cam/TS works. The image is not shot from angle, there’s the whole size, audio is fine (maybe you need noise reduction on the audio channel; ok). I put my laptop on a little distance so I don’t notice any rough pixels and there we go! Bag-o-crisps and a beer later you’re enjoying a great flick! ;) Gd stuff. Now I’m in need for another movie again, but I’ve seen it been there… lets see what comes out next.

A VHS screener is still released in the Asia, European markets to Video stores and movie reviewers. The reason it is done in VHS is so that the black market does not take the copy and make pirated copies pawning them off as Movie Studio released DVD’s It helps control the market before the R5′s are released.

R5, DVDscr should be out by the end of the month and the hulk isnt expected till late september i think. they do vhs screeners to make it harder for pirates to copy since you would need to get a jack to plug into your computer to record, then convert etc. taking the quality away with it in the process and thus keeping some pirates away from downloading it. i really want some word on a batman the dark knight R5 or DVDscr

this is a good copy for a vhs screener have seen worse.the audio is good 9 out of ten for that.and the picture ile give it a 9 out of 10 a few wavey lines but hey what the hell its free for god sake.this copy contains the extra scene after all of the credits have finished so dont switch it off straight away.the scene gives you a clue to a very big film that will be coming out in the near futer.the scene also ties in with the scene at the end of the new hulk film where ironman appears in the film.

I agree that it’s not that bad of a rip for vhs. Odd thing is that those lines are likely a form of interference that could have been avoided, maybe by cleaning the heads on the vcr.

@212, There is a timer and a watermark. The subs are hardcoded so you can’t possibly remove them. But the video is clear from what I can tell. Better than the VHS caps.
