To WingAttackGroupExIII you obviously don't have even the most basic grasp of electronics. Think about what has to be powered by a battery. With the ipod theres not much to power - its basically just the hard disk and and the lcd. With a laptop you have a lot more going on - cooling fans, a much larger lcd, hdd, cd/dvd, plus the processor itself can take a lot of power. As for this app being "useless"..well all I can say is what are you gonna do when your hdd gets wiped and you lose all your music?
