iPhone store reached 25000 applications
Apple’s App Store has reached the 25,000 application mark after adding another 5,000 applications in less than a month. The new tally also means that the App Store now has the most applications of any mobile platform, beating out the collection Windows Mobile has built up over nine years. Microsoft’s Windows Mobile OS has been around for nearly nine years now, and in that time a substantial number of applications have been released for it. In fact, Windows Mobile has held the title of the mobile platform with the most applications for a long time. Not anymore, however—Apple’s App Store has finally overtaken Windows Mobile as the (commercial) mobile application leader. Or it’s at least giving it a run for its money.
The App Store hit the 20,000 application mark in early February, and has continued to gain applications at an impressive rate. Last week, Fortune noted that App Store tracker 148Apps.com showed over 25,000 applications available on the App Store, meaning that the time necessary for the App Store to pick up 5,000 has decreased yet again as developers add applications at a faster rate. The other side of the equation is the number of Windows Mobile applications. People don’t pay quite as much attention to Windows Mobile as they do to the iPhone, but the Global Intelligence Alliance did include it in an analysis of major mobile platforms that was released in late February. The report says that there are “more than 20,000 different types of software” available for the platform, many from third-party sites.

Apple = Automatic Fail.
25000 apps of which 20000 is nothing more than a flashmovie (flv)
instead of full applications,
please apple where is skype on the iphone (without hassle)
blackberry is releasing their "App World" in the next month or so.
Studies showed that less than 30 percent of the users who download a paid application would actually use it again during the following day.
Even worse, only five percent of the users return to a certain application after 20 days.
IPHONE….SUCKS….NOKIA ROCKS….

@2 You may be wrong, if I'm remembering well, i-thing can't play flv file, only mp4 (sure everybody use that

cellphone : my tiny cheap i500 sony ericsson (whom I not even use 10% of functionality)
media : Archos 5, 120Gb, real screen, real support of codec, no need of itune or something etc… and you simple use opera widget (for free)
But only 300 of 25000 are actually usable.
ipone is a ripoff and is slow when i use the menus. it glitches a lot and the screen doesnt look as good as it does on tv
Like 95% of them won't be used lol
Yep about 95% of the apps are a total joke, and all the useful apps apple blacklist from their store which is a bigger joke.
I've got a jailbroken iPhone and download said apps (obviously I don't pay for them), and most of the apps are crap like "catpiano" and "Finger Paint" and other such amateur apps that I would not even look at let alone purchase.
So whoopie for the 25,000 apps :/.
What I really want is some GPS apps such as TomTom or similar then it would be awesome.
