    Is it true that spoken Language is Cantonese ?

    :)

    Though the NFO just says the language is Chinese, I am pretty sure this is in Mandarin and not the original Cantonese – to those who can understand the two!

    I am waiting for the Cantonese version! One of the best action Kung Fu films of the year!

    From the NFO, it was stated "syncfix" is included. And I did a quick scan on CD1, it does have a slight sync issue.

    Downloading CD2 now, wondering will the syncfix be included in there as well.

    Btw, I'm downloading from @1 (frty) RS links.

    I still thought it was slightly out of sync after the syncfix.
    Changing the 2:nd lines on the .vcf files CD1 110->330
    CD2 260->330 worked better i think.

  20. Bruce Lee
    January 5th, 2009 | 13:24

    There will be a sequel where Yip Man establishes his dojo in Hong Kong and it is here where a Bruce Lee will make an appearance. It's going to kick ass!

    The version I watched was out of sync by around 250ms. Easy to fix. Oddly, the 5.1 soundtrack when demuxed to 6 wav files, I found that the LFE, Front Left and Surround Left channels contain only silence. I didn't notice during watching the movie though.

    It's a really great movie.

    Mainland China (North of Hong Kong) has the retail DVD for sale already and so that is why it is only in Mandarin but Cantonese will follow shortly (maybe a month). Since there isn't many theatres in China and no distribution network to speak of, the producers had to release a retail DVD as soon as possible to beat the pirates. The entire movie is in Cantonese with a few phrases of Mandarin which the cantonese characters in the film could not understand the dialect. The story takes place in Canto Province so the language has to be Cantonese. Ip Man is a real person, where Wong Fei Hung is fictional but I can be entertained by a cross-over movie! Rumors of a sequel? Really?! I'd buy that!

    This is great, I just watched it in the theater in Malaysia and can't wait to see again :) This is one of most amazing kung fu movies that i've seen, and I try to follow this scene closely. Its very dramatic, serious, and the fights feel dynamic and reel, just very few places where you wonder if it's possible, but again, watch Wing Chun documentary in youtube and it's still unbelievable how they do it.

    P.S. I saw Ong Bak 2 advert that it will start to show at the end of February.

    I noticed there's a syncfix, and someone said there are several languages spoken, so Im wondering if this was a sync issue (percieved as a dub) or if the original dialogue of the has been dubbed over.

    @68 Spuma – The audio is definitely out of sync. Besides the voice and lips not starting at the same time, the sound effects (like the waiter placing the bowls on the table at about 24:40) also don't match up.

    Just use VirtualDub to re-sync.

    1) Open the movie in VIrtualDub.

    2) In the Video menu, select "Direct Stream Copy" so that you don't end up with a 50GB uncompressed file when you save!

    3) In the Audio menu, select "Interleaving" and type "250" in the "Delay Audio Track By [ ] ms" box. Click OK.

    4) In the File menu, select "Save as AVI" and name you new file.

    Ong Bak 2 is not a kung fu movie. Ideot.

    @31 Hophop

    Your a total jackass.I'm american and I've probably seen more Donnie Yen and Jackie Chan movies than you. Donnie Yen was tought Kung Fu from an early age by him mother who was a bad ass. Jackie Chan was tought in a school for stunts and comedy acting. One of his biggest influences is Charlie Chaplin. J.Chan & Donnie Yen are from totally different backgrounds, they are both awesome martial artists, and they both make awesome but different movies.

    Your going to say some crap like that about Americans and you dont even know what your talking about.Your just a little fan boy. Shut your mouth and know that americans love J.Chan AND Donnie Yen as well as a bunch of stuff you'll probably never know about. Looser.

    The audio sync error is closer to 300 than 250. This applies for both parts. Watch for the sound effects to synch up, not the dubbed Mandarin… then you will see.

    The subs that I found that included the written parts had a flaw in the entry numbers at the end of the second .srt file… I've fixed it and uploaded it, but the Engrish is still the same: http://subscene.com/english/Ip-Man-AKA-Grandmaster-Yip-Man/subtitle-195110.aspx

    Awesome movie, Donnie Yen is FAST!

    I sorta overlooked Comment #18, it's fairly spot-on. 330 might be a bit much, as 250 was not enough.

    But anyways, good info on how to edit the syncfix files. I used Virtualdub myself to do it.

    Awesome watch. True Wing Chun moves and plenty of it. :evil:

    BTW, I've manually fixed the English subs with written parts, so that all the English text makes sense now.

    Enjoy! ;)

    @94 hibby – Thanks for the adjusted subs. Unfortunately, the previously posted version of the written parts was in Chinglish and somewhat difficult to understand.

    I still have a minor quibble about the translation (though it's not your fault). The subtitles use the word "dojo" repeatedly to refer to the various Chinese martial arts schools in the movie. Dojo is a Japanese term. I think the word "school" or "kwon" (Cantonese) would have been more appropriate.

    For anyone who is interested (those with consoles/divx players), I have uploaded a Hardcoded Subs version with the English corrected and all in synch. Although slightly lower quality (1090kbps), it's fine for watching on a 32" widescreen. ;)
