Because of difference between the power user and the open source fanatic power user, both spreading the word and showing IE is not the only choice, for being first I chose Opera. Why? Opera leads in innovations and does it right way. Opera's developer tools are very slick and standards compliance is unbeatable, real world speed and benchmark speed are top, customizations are more than possible (few exceptions exist such as identyfying or masking as Google Bot) and overall experience - speed of interface, mouse gestures etc, all are in my personal opinion putting Opera on top.

Cons of Opera: not everybody knows about it and even if knows, chooses another IE alternative based on generally speaking biased and uninformed opinion.

I'm a web developer, IE don't follow the web standards you often needs to do a extra fix for it look the way you want it. I just don't know how that market share is calculated. I don't trust it.

Go to http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp

The only people who use IE: 1 because IE comes with Windows. 2 because people never tried firefox.

IE 6 will be gone maybe when IE 8 comes out.

2008 IE7 IE6 Chrome Fx Moz S O
November 26.6% 20.0% 3.1% 44.2% 0.4% 2.7% 2.3%
October 26.9% 20.2% 3.0% 44.0% 0.4% 2.8% 2.2%
September 26.3% 22.3% 3.1% 42.6% 0.5% 2.7% 2.0%

donjaun, even if ie8 beta rocks. ie didn't start to 'rock' until other browsers forced them to up their game.that's right seems if it wasn't for the 'others' out there the 'market leader' i.e. still wouldn't give a damn about you/us.

and the last review i read of i.e. it just seemed to be 'borrowing' ideas opera and firefox brought to the table.(without adding much else) maybe that's changed now. but i doubt it's changed by much.

Firebug was the only real reason to use FF (there are no reasons at all to use IE). Since Dragonfly is out, Opera is all the connoisseur needs...

Some of you should look this word up because you are obviously one: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/fanatic

Opera sucks. Chrome sucks. Firefox sucks. Internet Explorer sucks. Etc. Blah, blah, blah. Come on already, who cares what someone else uses? <shaking my head>

Well nvm it helps to re-read.....I dunno why people are holding so dearly still to IE. I like Firefox more than IE but I've grown much more fond of Opera to Firefox.
