This new processor will use the new socket 1366 so its incompatible with socket 775 used by Core2Duo. Also the prices for I7 motherboards range from about $400 to $1,070! --LOOOL!

In 2010 maybe I will buy this new CPU along with Windows7! :) Until then the current CPU's are good enough!

40%? Ya right, 40% at BEST in crazy server situations. Not for normal home usage scenarios. Sure it is quite a bit better, but not nearly 40% for regular people. And a good bit of the performance increase is because it uses high end DDR3 RAM which is a lot faster. A i7 system also costs WAY too much for normal people to use. Just wait a year or so until the prices come down to almost reasonable for these CPUs and the RAM they use.

Why not just upgrade and spend $900 on a new corei7 920 cpu, mobo, and 6gb ddr3 memory. We all knew Intel Nehalem Bloomfield cpu's were coming and now we are ready to spend $ to get our pirating done faster. Everyone already has a 1000watt psu right? *Any pc should use these must haves: 3 nvidia gtx 280's (ATi's 4870 X2's are benchmark hype) and 2x 300gb velociraptor hard drives @raid0.

Intel says this EVERY time it releases a new cpu. Don't believe the hype! While I clearly admit their CPU's are excellent, the price vs. performance is great, you cannot expect 40% performance increase across the board. For all we know they may notice a 40% increase in Word, but everything else is a 5-30% increase. well, if you don't use Word much, who cares?

Lets see the facts from an independent study? I want my Zip's and Rars and my dvd rips to increase by 40% and I would like the chip to use 20 watts of power? Well, good luck with that too.

I am sure it will be good, but to be honest, you can probably skip this entire gen of CPU's if you bought the Core Duo/Quad series in the last 2 years. Kind of like the Nividia 8000 series GPu's. You can easily forget the 9000 series as its only a marginal increase.

Save your $ folks.

Look people, if your a gamer then this platform is the next best thing you must have.. maybe not right now , but eventually this platform will be the requirement for future games.. this platform almost doubles frame rates with existing video cards.. SLI and crossfire configs will benefit from this platform the best.. this CPU and memory set up along with a good x58 board, will beat anything out there right now.. it is able to push the multi GPU set up better than anything has ever before..

i own a Qx9650 @4Ghz, 4 gigs corsair 1066 dominator ram, eVga 780i sli, and a eVga 9800GX2.. if i take my 9800GX2 out of my current set up and throw it in an x58 i7 platform, i can get almost 100% more frames per second in real game play..
