i’ve no idea where you have been the past 4 years, they’ve already gone through/are in a civil war.

As I said on a previous post Al Jazeera and Central command for the Iraq war are in the same building on different floors.
Qatar has one of the largest US military fleets in the Persian Gulf yet we are supposed to believe it’s anti-American.
I wonder what the economic policy towards Iraq is.
Is it an economic “shock therapy” like they did in Russia were state assets are sold of cheap and senior western investors buy them up at fire sale prices in exchange for western financial aid.
Perfect example is the former Yukos oil company were is senior shareholders were the like of Henry Kissinger.
I would expect the oil companies to be privatised and its senior shareholders to be the likes of Richard Pearle.
The comparison with Russia is a good one as both had debt, economic collapse and natural oil reserve and an educated middle class (who fled the country).

I bring a distinctly unnique view to this situation, being an Iraqi who grew up there and moved to the United States. Also, I currently work for an NGO and have spent two post-war years in Iraq. I can tell you definitively, that Iraq under Saddam was not perfect, but by the same regard it is not perfect now. However, I will say that Al-Jazeera is in fact a network that continually represents a pro-Arab and anti-Israel, as well as anti-jewish slant. Their broadcasting presents a picture of the middle east as a whole, that fails to present anything other than a positive or neutral view of the overall impact of suicide bombing and terrorist activity within the Arab world. Previous commentators have made the point that Al-Jazeera is a capitalist network that is only interested in turning the highest profits and this is to an extent true, however one must ask themselves what their target audience is. They gear their broadcasts towards an Arab audience who are primarily either anti-semetic or suffer from a lack of information other than that which they receive from their clerics or similar sources. As a Muslim Arab having grown up in the middle east,I can definitively tell you that a great deal of the middle eastern population suffers from a lack of information and only hears what is fed to them by slanted middle eastern media sources. The statement that Al-Jazeera is a balanced news source is disturbing and absolutely untrue. Further, as both a practicing Muslim and an Arab, I can not be accused of the usual refrains that I am either a Jew or American liberal trying to blaspheme.
