A massive explosion rips through six square blocks of Empire City, leveling everything and everyone in its path. I guess we appreciate the fac they've gone and done this, but i (and the other 4 posters) didn't think 'backups' could be played on the PS3. Unless its some massively secret thing.
how do i play burnt games on my ps3? I flashed my xbox which was easy, is there a similar process for ps3?
if you have a big flash drive up can place it on it then transfor it to ps3 and use it to copy it to hard drive and it will play like you bought it from sony store

no, you can't play ps3 backups without a mod, there's a proof of concept video showing 1 "backup" method and it's a nightmare.

Another tip: don't post PS3 'rips' of any kind. They don't work. If they do, they cost too much to get working (read: your sanity).

Yes you can play back ups. It's no secret process, Dark Alex cracked the PS3 Firmware long ago. You can just download and transfer to the PS3 hard drive.

@32 you sir need to stop the lies D_A has done nothing of the sort the only thing that works to play backups on the ps3 is swap magic and it only works on ps1/ps2 games if your ps3 is BC
So in Short quit posting lies there is no ps3 mod/way to play "backups" and there wont be for a very long time untill bluray prices come down.

To those who still don't get it: PS3 posts are not 'pointless', they are simply backups until eventually there will be a method to play them on a PS3; so stop whining.
Also, its amazing how many people missed the sarcasm in the author's release note…simply amazing.
Right so people are going to purposley buy a Blu Ray disc and back up a game wasting most of the space on the disc, then have that backup lying around when in the end the way copied games work in the future may render these worthless.
And eventually? how soon is that gonna be, really?

Even though there is no way to play PS3 rips, and there probably will never be due to the very nature of the system, if you will notice the scene tag displayed next to the name. This means there are actually scene groups stupid enough to release these. If you are so worried about RLSLOG posting these, why dont you use your "connections" to establish a new scene rule? That way, all PS3 rips will get nuked simply for being released…
Oh and BTW, this is useless. Unless, of course, you have graduated with a Master's Degree in Computer Programming from the University of Smarta$$ and you really enjoy wasting the maximum amount of hard drive space possible…

The PS3 will be cracked and its only a matter of time security or no security remember the 360 as soon as they figured how to rip the games it was weeks before there was a hack. The gamecube thought they had done it and it was ages before it was cracked but it was they thought reading the discs backwards and putting them on small dvd's was the answer but it wasnt and that helped them to crack the wii in only a few months.
All of you have forgot that you can install linux on to the ps3 and again thats what you used to unlock the first xbox once you could run linux you counld install the hacked dashboard.
I dont think the way forwards will be running games from copied blueray discs it will probably involve copying the disc image to a HDD and using linux to strip the security and with the price of a 1TB HDD its no big outlay its the same as anything when its hacked you will wonder what was hard about it. The blueray writers are getting a lot cheaper and so are the discs lets not forget what the prive of a dvd writer was and dvds when they first arrived blueray is no different.
these games surely wont work even if the console is eventually hacked. they would need patching or ripping using special settings, anyone remember the hitman games and playing them backup, needed bootloaders and everything!

The 360 was cracked two weeks after release the ps3 has been out for over 3 years and hasn't been cracked… Therefore your whole argument is null and void.
@38. Ok mr.smarty pants so you are willing to pay a min of $30 for a single layer blu-ray disc? you are willing to pay over 400$ for a GOOD quality blu-ray burner? To play back ups of 60-70$ games? No I didn't think so.
Right now you might save $5-10 to burn your own bluray games. As for putting them on the ps3's 5400 rpm harddrive………..Do I need to continue? even some of the smartest scene hackers can't get into the systems encryption.
And look at the size of these titles …. they are no where near being a full blu-ray so you are basically wasting the disc. There is some simple economics which believe it or not does have a huge effect on when or if systems get modded. If people cant afford the hardware what the hecks the point?

I love some games on the ps3 but gave up and got a xbox360 look at it this way sooner or later they will take all the sony titles tekken ,Metal Gear Solid , GT, GOD OF WAR ITS JUST A MATTER OF TIME

@54 Nah, it took one year to play backups on the Xbox 360, and the Xbox 360 isn't "hacked." It can play illegal backups, but it can't play emulators, etc. If anything is "hacked," it is the dvd drive that's hacked. Also, just because something is taking awhile, that info doesn't mean it'll never happen.

@24: when i bought my wii i downloaded ~60 games for it, still my wii was unmodded and i had only a few originals i played that time.
reason was that i waited for a solderless modchip, which appeared half year later. i bought one and installed it myself and that minute i had 60 games to play.
lol some ppl are so funny. You CANT play backup games on PS3 (yet). btw just by your PS3 games from ebay or something now you can allready find Infamous for under 35euro and if you w8 a week it will be less then 20.
