Indonesian Gov website hacked after porn ban
Hackers have defaced the Web site of Indonesia’s information ministry in response to a government move to restrict access to pornographic material on the Internet, an official said on Friday. Indonesia’s parliament on Tuesday passed a new information bill that criminalises the transmission of pornographic material on the Web. The Southeast Asian country has had a vigorous debate over pornography in recent years, exposing deep divisions in the Muslim-majority nation. Hackers on Thursday posted a message on the information ministry’s Web site saying: “Prove that the law has not been made to cover government stupidity.”
The message was accompanied by a mocked-up photograph of a local information technology expert, who has been advising the government on the new law, depicted with a bare chest. Screenshots of the hacked page were posted on the Detik.com news Web site and a cyber chat forum. The message had been removed and the Web site was now running normally, said Gatot Broto, an official at the ministry. The ministry said the law was a response to concerns in society about the negative impact of pornographic and violent sites as more Indonesians gain access to the Internet. Under the law, anyone found guilty of transmitting pornographic material, false news or racial and religious hate messages on the Internet could face up to six years in prison or a fine of 1 billion rupiah ($109,000).

This is sad for the country. Not so much because of porn, but changing who becomes a criminal. This could also mean that the types wathing porn will become more dangerous, in the same sence as druglords!
I could go on and on. I just dont see the relavence of such laws, that only makes matters worse. Perhaps if they criminalize having children, then alot would be criminals. Maybe it is time for the Indian people to put down the government?

This is a sad day.. Another attack on citizen freedom and civil liberties on the pretense of religion, not control. These countries are literally in the stoneage and are dangerous. Clearly, they want citizens to be devoted religious extremists, which is, in my opinion, one of the most significant sociologically-related dangers we face today.
Pornography is illegal in a lot of countries, take india for example it was and kinda still is illegal in india but by legalizing it the amount of rape/molestation cases have reduced significantly. Pornography isn’t really talked about like in western countries its very “underground” even though it is now legal. I heard they show it in cinemas O_o

Sad fact is this isn’t merely an issue of Indonesian geeks being deprived of their medically prescribed dose of virtual smut, but that of free speech. As far as I know the bill doesn’t just cover porn sites but kissing in public and sensual art as well.
Indonesia is one of the poorest countries in Asia; wasting time and money legislating (not to mention, implementing) unnecessary censorship laws (for the sake of pleasing religious conservatives) won’t help the nation crawl out of the pig sty.
But then again, you won’t be needing the transient pleasure the porn of this world has to offer when you’re busy humping the thousand virgins in paradise.

It was originally a really rich country, but then the fcked up Netherlands came and what did they do? They took all the goods but didnt give anything back. Pretty much one of the worst invader ever…I dont know when precisely (perhaps right before Soeharto took control of everything back in the 60’s), Indonesia was kind of taken over by the western block of countries. Soeharto was their designated leader of Indonesa to somehow made it look as if Indonesia was growing fast although he succeeded through lots of coverd up violence. Pretty much one of the proof of how he was actually under commands of some western power. With all those human rights violations, it was of course odd to see no country said anything esp. those western developed industrial countries. So, what i wanted to say is this: ALL OF THESE WERE ACTUALLY MOSTLY CAUSED BY YOUR DAMNED WESTERN COUNTRIES! IF CHINA WERENT THAT BIG, I BET THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN CONTROLLED TOO.
