Here’s most likely one of the last HDDVD rips we’ll ever see, but that doesn’t affect the quality of this release at all. An interesting documentary about the Apollo missions told by the surviving members of the crews.
Quality: Great video quality and bitrate along with DTS audio this is a nice watch about space exploration. Also check out SiNNERS new nfo, they’ve been saying for a while that the old one will have to do, so here is the new one.
In the Shadow of the Moon follows the manned missions to the moon made by the United States in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The documentary reviews both the footage and media available to the public at the time of the missions, as well as NASA films and materials which had not been opened in over 30 years; all of which has been remastered in HD. Augmenting the archival audio and video are contemporary interviews with some surviving Apollo era astronauts, including Al Bean, Michael Collins, Buzz Aldrin, Charlie Duke, and Harrison Schmitt. The former astronauts have the only speaking roles in the movie, although occasional supplementary information is presented on screen with text and archival television footage presents the words of journalists such as Jules Bergman and Walter Cronkite. Neil Armstrong, the first person to set foot on the moon, declined to participate.

If the USA went to the moon - how come they haven’t gone back? With such advances in TECHNOLOGY including great HD cameras - this would be a perfect time to really explore and spin that camera about without almost locked off studio shots. I for one am very weary about the moon landing… time will one day tell.

Whether we actually went or it was staged, I’m not one to say. Why haven’t we gone back? Better questions: why hasn’t any other country even attempted it? What is the point of putting a human on the moon now, when we can send satellites/rovers for a fraction of the price? And what other information can we gain by a human landing that isn’t already known/can be gained more easily and with less $$$? $$$ is much better spent on the mars rover, int’l space station, etc etc.

My father (who passed away of Alzheimer’s 7 years ago) worked for North American Space & Informations Division in Downey, CA for the greater part of his life (later became North American Rockwell). They were responsible for building the command module capsule that stayed in orbit around the moon with Michael collins inside while the other two were on the surface.
I’ve met most of the astronauts of that “era” and I visited most of the construction and testing facilities where the Apollo was built. The US government doesn’t.. and didn’t spend that kind of vast amounts of money.. just to put on a show that could of been produced for a grand in a warehouse. We WENT to the moon.. plain fact. NO ONE else has.. plain fact. IMHO.. it’s the greatest achievement our country and this world.. ever accomplished.
As for me.. yeah.. I’m an OLD hippie pinko.. and proud of it; but I don’t subscribe to EVERY conspiracy theory I hear. As to WHY we don’t go again.. that’s because “King George” is wasting too much of our vast resources on a war we shouldn’t have started in the first place.

I knew this would bring up the stupid “we didn’t go their comments”. First of all, the documentaries that have the “evidence” regading falsifying the moon landing is all made up and their is no actual real evidence.

@21 - Why didn’t they go back? First of all they did go back a few times, just not recently and the reason they stopped going was because they didn’t need to. The whole point to the “space race” was to beat the Russians which they did. Also, they are returning in the next few years to setup a base and plan to use it as a launching point to get to Mars.

The fact is that even the astronauts thought they went to the moon. They’ve just been drugged and stuff I guess. Remember, like the area 51 does to make you forget what you’ve seen….or not.
No telescope on earth, or in orbit, has the power to resolve any of the equipment left behind on the moon. This is a very simple scientific fact concerning optics.
If we didn’t go to the moon, upwards of 100,000 people are very good at keeping a secret. Only an idiot could think something like that would be kept under wraps.
And hundreds of lbs of moon rocks helps bolster the case as well.

The reason why the US caught up with the Russians and went to the moon first is because they were spending a lot more: 30$ for every Ruble spent by the USSR, and because the head of the Soviet space program, who was a genius, died prematurely. Also, the USSR had three separate and competing programs, while the US focused on one.

What made me laugh the most about this is the tv doc. the nasa made against this theory. and when you watch it you can see that the evidence they have against the evidence we have are worth nothing, they don’t make sens, don’t reply the answer, are very brieve with no explanations. If they haven’t landed on the Moon, where are all moon rocks from? Irradiated, inexistant on Earth, without *ANY* traces of life, different from all meteorites? This is impossible to make up this one. You just can’t get this stuff from Nevada.

To feed the conspirancy teory aroud the moon exploration is a waste of time. It doesn’t really matter if they went there or not. By engaging in american conspiracy discussions, the rest of the world, is playing the game of information truthfulness.
In the end, you never get to any positive conclusion. You don’t do anything with whatever conclusion you get. Because it doesn’t matter. It’s just a damn novel.

Those are hard evidence, unlike the believers that just say “it is so” without any facts backing them up.

Watch documentaries that analyses filmclips, radiation hazards etc etc. Use your brains and just dont say “we landed on the moon” without examining the facts. You will be very surprised how well documented the fraud-analysisis is.

I’m looking forward to 2009 when they send a Hi-Res Satellite to map out the surface of the moon (resolution down to 1 foot, current imaging resolution of the surface is much lower) and we will be able to see the leftover hardware from the Apollo missions. Although the reflectors are strong evidence that human-manufactured artifacts currently exist on the moon, they do not prove humans have visited the moon. Similar retroreflectors were carried by un-manned missions such as Lunokhod 2, and like the Apollo reflectors, are still in use today.
Operators around the world pointed their radio equipment at the Apollo spacecraft and received the incoming radio transmissions LIVE.

Both Lunokhod 1 and Lunokhod 2 left “Lunar Laser Ranging Equipment” i.e. reflectors on the moon and both were UNMANNED, but when the US put up the EXACT same equipment… it proves that the US actually walked on the moon?

So how can it be so believable that unmanned probes have landed on the moon and that manned missions did not? One of the biggest arguments with HBs is that the US did not have the level of technology to put a man on the moon in the 1960s. If you can admit that unmanned probes landed on the moon in the 1960s, isn’t that a contradiction? We had the technology for unmanned missions but not manned missions? How does that make sense? What’s the big leap from unmanned to manned that makes the moon landings impossible?
I also can’t swallow that such an enormous amount of people kept the whole thing a secret from the world. And that the USSR wouldn’t find out and blow the whistle on the whole thing. If you are in a race with someone and they win the race by cheating, wouldn’t you cry foul? How can you explain that?
The whole world was able to detect the radio signals from the moon orbit. Not necessarily monitor them, but they could tell where the radio signals originated from.

I’ll say it again to everyone, what’s the giant leap in technology that allows us to send unmanned probes but not manned ones?
And as I said previously, upwards of 100,000 people were involved in the project. It wasn’t only NASA who made this happen…thousands of contractors who built parts and designed things for the mission. All of these engineers were pretty convinced the stuff they were building was good enough to get the job done. Don’t you think it’s a little odd to actually DO everything, design it all and build it so that it’s capable of performing the task….and then faking it?

Notice in the above picture the lack of stars. What took that picture? The craft has no visible footprints or anything around it. Looks like they had a camera already set up to take a picture. I suppose thats suppose to be the sun in the background too. Looks a little small to me. Even the Youtube videos show the whole craft and the astronauts getting out of it and making the first footprints on the moon. Who or what is holding the camera?

@85 Of course there are no stars. Watch footage from the Space Shuttle in orbit, do you see any stars there? Simple photography. The camera is going to focus on the most prominent light source. Star light isn’t near bright enough for the camera to focus on when a much brighter light source is present.
