In the search for a new editor…
I don’t really know if someone notices these names displayed under the headline of each post, but they might tell you something: we have 4 guys right now, who are taking care about getting the most fresh and juicy information about new scene releases for you. Mr.X is covering new TV shows, A.J. does a great job by posting details about interesting music releases and Mike describes new dvdrips of old movies for you. Well, that’s how it works now, so it’s not that hard to find out that I’m doing all the rest – all new movies, games, appz and so on. And as you can probably agree with me, it’s a serious load of work. The usual time for making one new post is 10 minutes, because we do care about the look of every post and want to keep the same design and structure of everything here at Releaselog. Mike was posting these new movies with me uptil now, but he has a new work now so he can’t help me with this anymore and he’ll stay with dvdrips of old movies.
So what I’m going to offer now is the place for 2 new Releaselog editors. We asked you for small help few times before, but majority of people who were chosen from these former posts are little inactive now, although they did a good job and their account is still open and ready. At the very beginning, I’d like to say it’s not an easy job, although it may look like that on the first look. Yeah, there’s this hype when you start, but how time passes, this enthusiasm usually disappears and people are leaving us. That’s a common problem even if you start your own website, so I just warn you before you eventually apply for the editor position.
The two positions I’d be happy to fill are as follows:
- 1 Movie editor covering new movie releases
- 1 Game and/or Appz editor
As you could notice, movies are the main content-makers here, so this position is really important for us. The second position isn’t that crucial, but we would be also happy to have someone who could help us by posting information about new games or applications. There aren’t new games released on the scene every day, so it won’t be that hard work. That’s also why the person who would like to post about games may enrich his/her work with few posts about new appz or some interesting tools.
We require certain skills for both positions:
- fine knowledge of written English (something I still have problems with – we prefer native Englishmen, but it’s not required)
- time to write (1 game/app per day or 1-X new movies a day, this depends on the amount of new releases and your time preferences)
- presence at ICQ/MSN/AIM for communication in our team
- at least a minimal knowledge of the warez scene, internet and torrents
We will provide you with the source of all information about new releases, so it’s really just about finding information about certain game/movie on the internet and publishing it here. We will also give you an invitation to one of the best private bittorrent trackers with possibility to download all new releases. Please consider that Releaselog is visited by circa 50 000 unique people every day, who are desperate to see new posts and information about scene releases, so this is quite a challenging and responsible job. Mmm, interesting. I really like rlslog so a poster of rlslog seems very cool to me. The problem is that my english isn’t that good, but it is a good initiative.

dood, i don’t remember a day with 2 or less posts. and exactly as David wrote, this is exactly why I wrote this post, to find someone who could increase the amount of daily posts.
the other thing is whether we need to stick with same look and structure of posts here, or just post a short messy information about a new release with link to torrent and eventually a sample…

Looks very interesting….but do we have to take care of the uploading thingy on newtorrents or does someone else do that? because my source isnt that quick as he dont have any access to any topsites but if the uptime doesnt mather iam very interested to be a writer…
Martin said within the “wanted poster” that he will provide all source, the editors need to find info on the release and post it, thats all.

This is something that I would love to do. However I will be working over the summer and I will not have access to my computer for the majority of the time. If there are still positions available after the summer I would be more than happy to do it. I have some experience with torrents and I check this site daily. I have also taken a Film class where I had to write one full length review every week out of class as well as in class analysis of films. I also have quite a bit of experience with games. I usually download and play just about every new game release. At the moment I am a student at Geneseo State and I will be next year as well.
So if possible I would love to work for you guys after the summer

Actually i am into scene with 0day appz & games, but unfortunately my english isn’t so good… As for new releases, i have access to 0day ftp’s so i don’t use torrents. Actually Scene doesn’t like p2p at all

You know Id love to be on the team, but Im awfully busy these days. I wish you luck finding a new editor for Rlslog, which in my eyes is the ultimate daily feed (and oh yes, Im pretty sure lots of others think likewise). Perhaps it should be like an Idols competition, yes… maybe you should organize somthing like it, where wannabe-editors have to make a videopost on youtube where they introduce themselves and have their own little review, then pick new editors from that, or even better, let the Rlslog readers vote for em. I’m interested in the movie position. I have a good knowledge of the English language, being born in America, and I currently take 2 AP classes. I also have some knowledge about the scene and torrent releases.
Firrasaltaher , I think it’s better that you write an email
You should have a special page on rslog, where us regular peasantry can submit a link that would show up on a separate page where an admin can look over it and accept or decline it. Cumbersome sentence asides, I think that’d help a lot with your lack of time/staff/etc problem. Also, it’d help a lot with any releases that you guys miss, or if someone is off for the day or such.
I know that there have been a few times when I’ve had something of interest to submit, and I am sure that others have had similar experiences.

I come to rlslog everyday multiple times to see the newest and latest releases. My name is Gus Ohare , im 21, I live in Pennsylvania, i am available full time and have access to computer/internet 24/7 I am on AIM 24/7 as well
I have belonged to some warez groups in the past on IRC etc.
I am just interested in helping people find out the information as fast as possible with a good review to follow.
I have also taken several journalism/writing classes

Ha, i would love to be in your positions guys, reading all of those applicants. I think probably 90% of your readers will apply, whether or not they can actually write, and of that percent, 99.9% being high school kids hehe
When you finally get down to 10 people or so you should ask for written examples or work, im pretty sure half the people who applied bullsh*ted on what they actually know and can write.. or maybe its just me

i would be perfect for the job i have an ilness which doesnt allow me to work but im in front of the comp 24/7 i have been in the scene for 4 yrs nows so id fit the bill im also a british citizen ty
