Ill Niño – Enigma [2008]

Ill Nino is a band I’ve listened to a bit off and on during the years. They have some pretty decent songs in my opinon for being a Nu-Metal band. Sometimes the cheesy stereotypical lyrics get a bit over the top but the music itself can be nice to listen to. The best parts of an Ill Nino album are the Latin American influences, which makes it different. These guys haven’t released a full length record since late 2005, so for Ill Nino fans this should be quite a big deal. This hits the stores March 18th so I doubt any hardcore fans will be able to wait. Still as always I encourage everyone to support their favourite bands and buy the record when it hits the streets.

Ill Nino’s Latin roots run bloody and deep. As innovative and refreshing as their sound is they’re nearly impossible to describe: Spanish lyrics, flamenco guitars, tribal drums and percussion, Salsa-infused bass lines, and thunderous metal riffs. Ill Nino brings all of those qualities together masterfully and are very much in evidence on their second recording for Cement Shoes Records entitled, ENIGMA! This is the fourth full-length studio album. It is destined to be the band’s most influential release to date.

GREAT album – was psyched about this for almost a year and now it’s finally out. I love it a lot :D

They went for something closer to their previous album Confession, which is up until now their best IMO – but this might change it. Just great ^_^

    what? Isn’t nu-metal dead?
If i want to listen to pop rock, i would prefer bands as Incubus, or Early days Korn, but anyhow, thanks for the post.

By the way, if you want something with meaningful and think-positive lyrics, then take a look to Have Heart or Champion (rip)

Thanks for this. The release of this album had been pushed back many times, I think it was originally supposed to come out back in June ‘07. Looking forward to hearing the new Ill Nino, I always enjoyed their older stuff (Revolution/Revolucion and Confession).

there’s more to music than just power rifts and screaming some lyrics about being alone and sad

  32. February 6th, 2008 | 02:23

And there’s more to Metal than just “power rifts and screaming some lyrics about being alone and sad” as you seem to think.

You obviously don’t know enough about Metal to state a sensible opinion of it. Metal is the most varied of all musical genres ;)

this album is lackluster at best, i really didn’t find myself drawn to any of the songs in this release, and i was originally a fan of this band. Oh well…

Latin-Metal isn’t a real genre. It’s just what the artist have chosen as their genre. Metal is Metal.

    February 7th, 2008 | 14:31

@29 44Khz is good, but if you read the post it says 4410Khz, which is 100 times greater that 44.1Khz, which this release actually is :p .

@33 Yes Ill nino are a 2008 version of soulfly. I mean its not as if they’ve been around for 10 years and one of their guitarists left and joined soulfly
