I have used UltraEdit for over 8 years. I have not been able to find an editor that’s so powerful as UE. I tried Notepad+ and it’s usable but not for full-time text mode dev work.

Also I can edit 4GB+ files easily using this editor, while everything else crashes on windows.

Vim is great, but until it runs natively on windows you really don’t need to mention it here…

As for those who are looking for a “notepad replacement,” look elsewhere, this tool is way too powerful for you.

The keygen field box is too small. Slap the cursor at the beginning and shift+end to highlight what u can’t see. Copy that.

Alt + Left mouse click let you select column.

Alt + C turn on the column editor where you can insert anything in a column of text!

Is SuperEdi considered a joke since it hasnt been mentioned at all? It’s the only notepad-replacement I tried, but it does its job and is free.

Amazing how this application has swollen in size over the years. I’ll stick with version 8.0a at a more reasonable 0.99M
