Ice Road Truckers S02E03 WS DSR XViD-OMiCRON

OMiCRON released another sure-to-be great episode of Ice Road Truckers, In the remote communities of Inuvik and Tuktoyaktuk, over 100 miles north of the Arctic Circle, two clients, the Mallik Gas Hydrate Research Project and MGM Energy, rely on the short ice road season as the sole supply for their energy ventures. In about two months, or until the ice roads melt, these clients collaborate with three competitive trucking companies who must work together to move hundreds of heavy and oversized loads over frozen river and ocean water through fatally cold and often dangerous storm conditions.

The Big Blizzard
The roads are shut down by the first snowstorm of the season, and a trucker is reported stranded on the road. Meanwhile, Rick awaits his truck to be repaired after suffering a second accident in four days, and Drew becomes ill on the first day he is to hit the ice.

I searched google for “scene releases” to see if i could find any similar sites to this one that would have rapidshare links, I didn’t find any.

However, I was unaware how many sites (so far I’ve found 11) that look exactly like this one (Wordpress, scene realeases). A lot of the releases match this site’s word for word, wonder whose copying who.

Download all files to the same location, and extract the RAR file to that location, and then read the info file before doing anything else!

No, sorry… i should have explained those style of file sets but i was in a hurry, so i will do it now

A little while ago, Rapidshare started targeting file sets that looked suspicious (ie warez, movies etc) to do this they were looking at a number of elements, but mainly the file names and sizes, if they looked like a set, then the bot was flagging them, and setting them suspended. After inspection they were either returned, or one file from the set was deleted or deliberately corrupted :( (they are supposed to have stopped doing this now, but i dont trust them)

so, what you have there are the 4 parts of the episode, split into different file sizes, and entirely different names :) thus hiding as much as possible that it is a file set, and hopefully making it safer

The RAR file contains 3 or 4 files,

the read me file with instructions
the original nfo file for the release (if available)
a bat file that renames the data files
a self extracting and joining tool that is used to join all the file parts together.

the reason i say read the nfo first, is that the bat file must be run first to correctly name the data files, without that, the file restore/joining tool can not operate.

You do not require any special archive unpackers or anything on your system for this to operate

hope that makes it a little clearer for you guys… most of my files will now be split in this way :)

one last thing, if for some reason the file names get goofed up, the bat file will not be able to restore them, as they are hard coded into it, so, if that happens, run the restore/joining tool, and then when it cant find the data file, simply point it at one of the data files and hit ok, if its the wrong part, it will tell you, then simply select the next one and try again, repeat this until you find the right part - this should not happen however, if you read the nfo file first !

Gunslinger, your intentions might be “pure” but we would have to be high to go and do what your directions say. Run .bat files? You can put delet C: or format c: or replace the boot directory so very easily. Rapidshare knows everyone uses winrar to split archives into similiar files size archives so this would not be used as a flage for illegal software, all uploaded large size files are split into equal sizes by winarar.

Well, you could look at the batch file and see what it does but I’m with 22. No offense.

  24. Gunslinger
    June 23rd, 2008 | 15:10

    no offence taken,

the bat file, if opened in notepad has a little explanation of what it does, and there is no odd code in there just 3 rename lines (or more if more data files)

and yes, everyone uses winrar to split files, and RS knew this, thats why they were easy as h3ll to spot and delete one file from the set.

    this tool uses GSplit

take it or leave it, its there if you want it, and no offence will be taken if you opt not to, i know i dont download lots of things because i dont like the look of them, it is what we all must do to stay safe

  25. Gunslinger
    June 23rd, 2008 | 15:13

oh, forgot to say, all my rar files have full authenticity verification on them, are locked and passworded, if you get one of these file sets that was not posted by me, and it does not have the company name of Ghost Industries on the joining tool, or the authenticity verification is missing or corrupt, then you would be correct not to trust it

  26. CHARGES
    June 23rd, 2008 | 15:17

But deleting 1 rar file from any set, whether its your family photos, online fantasy football league, legal mp3 collection backe up, what have you, Would make the whole file set useless. They would know this, to circumvent them all you have to do is not name your files so obviously what they are. Then pass oritect them, they can not look inside at them.

thanks randomrocker… you were right to question them, i should have put a little explanation with them, but i was in a hurry and forgot.

CHARGES, the info about renaming rar files is correct, but you cant get away from the upload time and similar file size issue, unless you want to wait a bunch of time between uplaods :( … RS knew they had problems with this system, but it was being pushed on them by outside agencies, and i would not be surprised to see something similar return

you can of cause rename my files manually, if you know which is which, they are simply required to be 2,3 and 4 with no file extension (part 1 is in the joining tool)

the BAT file is simply there to make the renaming process easier for the end user, i could have run it silently from the RAR file or the joining tool, but i decided against it, as i dont like things happening that are not expected, so i put it in there as a manual operation instead

Middle age trucker drama? This show is so lame, if you watch this, you are going backwards on the evolutionary chain.

I myself am even taking a step backwards just wasting my time to demote this crap.

utterly un-artistic, uncreative, drama. Saved by the bell was way better than this crap, even whos the boss was better…

I heartily urge anyone even remotely thinking of wasting their life on this show, “DONT DO IT”

Read a book, or do some research or something…..

Gunslinger, you sound like a good guy with good intentions. That said, the odds of my willfully running someone’s bat file on my system are very, very slim. I work on servers all day long and I’m really not into spending my evenings trying to find out what wiped out my boot files, and then formatted my data on reboot… lol Nothing personal, but darn if there isn’t a better encryption scheme or two out there than blindly handing the reigns over to someone I’m hoping has good intentions. Life is too darn short. Nothing personal, take care!

DAA Fix: Download this little FREE command line tool from Softpedia [pretty darn safe] and name the .daa file in question, it will automatically convert the file to .iso for you! Check it out…

    DAA2ISO 0.1.3 - FREE DOWNLOAD

    http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/DAA2ISO-Download-94287.html

Once you decompress the file, just use .rar to extract the file for FREE to a folder. Then be sure to SCAN the folder you create with your computer’s Virus Protection before you do anything with whatever you downloaded. That’s it, no need to buy PowerISO or any proprietary program for $40. Take care!

“Gunslinger, you sound like a good guy with good intentions. That said, the odds of my willfully running someone’s bat file on my system are very, very slim.”

Fair comment, so what i will do is modify my system a little….. i will edit the nfo file, and also include a text file, containing the file names and what they need to be changed to, this way you dont have to run the BAT file if you dont want, and you dont have to open the bat file to read the conversion, it will be in a plain text file.

That will only take me seconds to add to the archive, and should give the end users the option :)

    hows that sound ?

  47. Gunslinger
    June 25th, 2008 | 19:16

It’s all good! With a command line tool, .daa is not a problem. The problem is, the copy of PowerISO that’s floating around online includes a keymaker that is chuck full of a very nasty bonus. What’s even scarier is if you scan that keymaker, it shows up clean in PCDoctor, Webroot and Kaspersky. Only after clicking on it does it turn nasty, FAST! In fact I tested it on the bench and even Kaspersky 7 full on couldn’t catch it before it logged into system32 folder and locked into the registry. Not everybody has a test build laying around so you guys might want to be extra careful these days, a lot of the Serial Generators and Key Generators are back loaded and really, really hard to find until it’s too late. That’s why I was so gunshy about firing up a .bat, to me that’s like shooting a hole in the side of a Lear jet, technically it’s not fatal but once all the air sucks out of the cabin [in less than 5 seconds] your pretty much done.
