I download the smaller 720p rips and they fit good on standard dvd’s and watch them on my ps3 and they look fantastic, but will the ones that are 4gb convert just as good on a 4.7gb dvd as well? I don’t care about the bandwidth, i download all i want for no extra cost, but want to know if the quality will still look as good or if the conversion will keep it to fit that disc and keep the quality because i don’t want to split to 2 dvds. An answer would be appreciated.

user : HD-DVD Rips is what DIVX did to DVD -9 . The Image quality of HD-DVD / HD-DVD Rip 720p or 1080 Full HD is much much better than a DVD 9 . If you convert back the HD DVD rip to DVD- Video there will be substantial losses , just DL the DVD-R of the movie do not wast you bandwidth DL HD DVD Rips .Use VLC media player and intall a

Combined Community Codec Pack ( CCCP ) @ http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Combined_Community_Codec_Pack.htm.
PC is still the best way to watch these , there two standalone players ( Hard disk based ), still in beta stage.

hey
dumb question but can anyone explain me the advantages of x264 formats, will a 720p HDDVD x264 rip be better quality than the “normal” orignal dvd9?
can this superior quality (if its the case) be preserved when converting the HD-rip to dvd? what programs do you use or is that non-sense, and the best way to watch these files is still the PC?
you dont need to answer if you only want to say i’m a noob, that is why i am asking. thanks.

I forgot what the cut off size is for a DVD5, will this 4.41gb file successfully fit on a dvd5 without the need for being compressed or lowering the quality?
