I Am Legend REPACK DVDSCR XviD-iMBT

Our original post for leaked dvd screener of I Am Legend became somehow complicated and with almost 700 comments by far the most read article on this site. The situation is now pretty much clear: the only proper, scene version is this rip from iMBT. There are no problems with audio syncing or watermarks (it’s cropped though) as in case of previous rips. The quality is simply excellent considering it’s a really new movie. Oh and by the way, we were linked by numerous established websites including the New York Magazine on this post. :)

Robert Neville is a brilliant scientist, but even he could not contain the terrible virus that was unstoppable, incurable, and man-made. Somehow immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City and maybe the world. For three years, Neville has faithfully sent out daily radio messages, desperate to find any other survivors who might be out there. But he is not alone. Mutant victims of the plague — The Infected — lurk in the shadows… watching Neville’s every move… waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind’s last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. But he knows he is outnumbered… and quickly running out of time.

    question for rapidshare account holders, do they cancel your account if they find out you are downloading movies ? I wanna buy years worth, much more worth it than paying monthly for a giganews account.

    Theoretically yes you can be traced if you download from one of the direct http links such as Rapidshare. Your IP address is logged on their servers and, if the FBI can be arsed going after the obviously hundreds and hundreds of peeps who downloaded it, they can trace the IP back to your ISP with the date and time logs. They can hit your ISP with a court order to turn over the details of which customer was using that IP address at the time and lo and behold, a wee black van might turn up at your home. If you have a paid account on Rapidshare or one of the other sites, with your credit card and address details etc. and download a lot of movies from there then it much more likely you will have a visit at some stage. Personally I think anyone who has a paid account and uses Rapidshare for piracy is an idiot.

    If you live outsie the US then the FBI have no jurisdiction so it might be a different colour of wee van that turns up, maybe with the words Police or FACT on it if you’re in the UK. You might be able to find a free web proxy to mask your IP address but most of these dont allow large file downloads from sites like Rapidshare.

    Downloading the files via bittorrent is a bit safer but still not entirely safe. Because you are not downloading the entire file from one person or site you may be downloading small bits of it from hundreds of seeders, so its much more difficult to trace who you are, but NOT impossible. Of course, the FBI could trace your IP when you chose to download the .torrent file in the first place but major sites such Piratebay store this information in RAM so it is lost when the server is powered down or flushed making it virtually impossible to trace people.

    If you want to further decrease the odds get Privoxy and Peerguardian for your torrent downloads. Both are free and easy to use and can block known goverment IP addresses and IP addresses of the MPAA, FBI etc. etc. Makes it much safer and highly unlikely you’ll ever be arrested but not impossible. Both programs have IP lists that are updated daily or at least very often.

    A final possible option in the future is to use the annonymous TOR network and this is already being experimented with. As TOR relies on the data being passed through the network between chains of users it is very, very slow at the moment so not worth it but one to watch for the future.

    Because in iMBT’s release you can see the warning at the bottom
    so they only cropped out the letter boxes but in THS’s release they cropped out the warning at the bottom so cropping out parts of the film.

    Bottom line is I.Am.Legend.REPACK.DVDSCR.XviD-iMBT is the by far the best copy out there right now.

    December 22nd, 2007 | 02:09

    wow…you really stupid huh, ok let me clear some things up, you get very high quality video with a r5 and you can put in whatever audio you want, and with the dvdscreeners audio, you plug it in you have a perfect copy of the movie, no need for a dvdrip, just donwload the r5.. and stop worring about your ip being traced, yes it is being traced, but FBI can’t go after all of us, how crazy would it be if 200,000 people were arrested in one day for downloading this…i mean really look at the big picture, the most they will do is go after THS for releasing the source…and i think its good that its cropped so they can protect the person who had the ball’s the leak this to the internet…. its 300 all over again :) if a movie is very good, it leaks faster face it.. look at american gangster we got it 2 weeks early

    @111

    Nice post man, way to really convey a lot of information succinctly. I was just wondering what everyone thought about two possible scenarios:

    (1) - How can an IP Address really identify a person when an average computer user can alter his MAC address and therefore his IP address, at will?

    (2) - What about shared wireless networks? I realize that around the last two digits of an IP address change as per each individual machine(pc)- but I would assume that this alteration changes each time each machine turns on. So is it possible that all of this can be traced? I read somewhere recently that over 50% of cable modem users have unsecured wireless networks, so if you have 5-10 houses or 100-200 apartments going off one router - how can all of this be traced?

    102 rapidshare don’t care about DL movies from any account, they just care about uploaded files and btw. only very stupid people (who can’t count) are buying 1yr/accounts, because:
    1 month + 2 month = 8000+2000 points = 3 paid months + 1 for free
    1 year = 8000 points = nothing free

    so if you are downloading from RS and don’t care about upload you should be buying new account every 4 months and you will get 3 months per year for free instead of paying for 12 months and having nothing for free, btw. it’s very stupid from RS they can’t count too and force people to do this “trick”

    @111 george watson,

    While it’s true that with Rapidshare, all the information is right there for paid account users, I still think it’s safer than using P2P software. Why? Well…

    So far, every lawsuit and/or trial I’ve heard about has been for DISTRIBUTING copyrighted material. When you download something on P2P, you automatically upload parts of that same file. The copyright police attempt to download a particular file and the P2P client shows them a list of all the IP addresses of people who are sharing that particular file. (ok, maybe not ALL of them, but quite a few) They can then pick and choose which IP addresses to go after. If the person refuses to pay what they ask, the lawsuit goes ahead and that person is charged with distributing copyrighted works. Or in the most recent cases in the US, they’re accused of “making available” copyrighted works. The reasoning is that they’re spreading the works to others, thereby costing the company money.

    Rapidshare (and other hosting sites, not to mention Usenet) are one way only. The person who uploaded the files would get in trouble, but I doubt that the downloaders would. Since they only downloaded the file, all the media companies can prove is that they obtained a single copy of each work, but there is no evidence at all that they then distributed that work to anyone else. Of course this still illegal, but what are they going to tell the judge? “This individual deprived us of a total of $160 by downloading 8 different films rather than buying them on DVD!”

    @146 Tim,

    1. As I understand it, the MAC address is the address of your network adapter (card, whatever) that identifies your system on the local network, but it’s not your internet IP address. Your router or modem has an IP address assigned by the ISP, either dynamically when you log on, or a static one assigned to you. The rest of the net uses that IP address to contact you, while the router/modem uses the MAC address to communicate with the computer. If people could simply change their IP address at random, the net wouldn’t be able to function.

    2. Unsecured wireless networks are pretty much untraceable. The ISP can use the IP address to figure out what router a particular IP address was assigned to at any given time, but if the user of that router left it open for anyone to connect to, there’s virtually no way to tell who has been using it.

    As for the film; I liked it up until the infected made an appearance. They weren’t the least bit convincing. Every time they appeared onscreen, I was painfully aware that I was watching CGI. I’ve read that they were disappointed with the way real actors behaved as the infected, but I still think it would have made a better film if they had used real people. Say what you want about the Resident Evil films, but the zombies were 10x more effective than the creatures in this movie.

    thanks tito, downloaded both samples, can’t really see much difference to be honest, there both excellent apart from the fact they are very dark. I dont know if this can be fixed easily before the film is burnt to disc.
    I also wondered which release wasnt cropped as the imbt and the x264 are definitely. I’m not sure of fownloading the 4gb dvdr is really worth it if theres not much difference!!!
    Anyway, much bettervthan the American Gangster screener which was unbeleivably dark

    @ primo

    Thank you, i actually left the torrent on overnight and it got it all, but i have the same issue as others, i can’t get it to play :(

    i’ll try burning it first to DVD and see if i get a coaster, if i do then i will have to look at re-authoring it …. not had to do that before so will be a bit hit and miss.

    primo, did that one you posted work ok ? … i am wondering if there is 2 copies of this floating around, one re-authored and one not, it would account for all the different results

    UPDATE:

    ok, from the torrent i downloaded overnight of the full DVDscr (TGP version)

    i could NOT play it on my PC, with nero showtime, vlc player, windows media player, media player classic with mega codec pack… nothing, and that was tried with mounting it in clonevirtual drive, and playing it and also exploring and extracting the files,

    BUT, what i did was mounted the img in virtual clonedrive, then extracted the video and audio folders (nothing in the audio one!) and then simply used CLoneDVD2 to burn it to DVD and that seemed to work, there was a long blank at the start before all the warnings etc and copyright stuff came up, but it worked :) and i can confirm, it is not cropped, i can also confirm now, that the 2 disc I.Am.Legend.DVDSCR.RERIP.XviD-THS, is also not cropped into the movie, they cropped the top and bottom black bars a little, to remove some of the copyright text, but did not encroach into the movie with their crop

    easiest fix i found was to run it through DVD Shrink, and Re-Author it and back it up, seemed to work ok

    the original files appear to be missing a VOB file, so when you burn it and stick it in a DVD player it gets stuck because it is missing menu instructions,

    the original copy that i burned without re-authoring, requires that you press stop then play after inserting the disc to get it to play, the re-authored one doesnt :)

    @ally.

    thanks for your help, as for the cropping issue

    the “ReRip” 2 CD version is cropped, but not into the movie picture… you can still see the first line of the copyright text, which means they only cropped some of the black bars off to remove the 2nd and 3rd line of the text, as for if it is in sync, then the first CD is perfect, the 2nd one i think i noticed about half way through a tiny out of sync error, but it was only tiny.

    I can not speak for the “RePack” as i have not downloaded that one, but i think i read somewhere that it was croped so you cant see any of the copyright warning, which means they must have cropped a small part of the picture off, but i can not confirm this 100%

    for the full DVDscr, i used DVD Shrink to re-author it, and it seems ok now

    Sure Rapidshare can trace you if they presently log IP. If they weren’t, as of 2008 they will be required by German law to keep several months of logs. German police are going to have a field day with hosting like Rapidshare.

    Another sad day for iMBT and Hookah.

    Stealing source from p2p is lame. iMBT if you lost your sources why not retire with some honor or merge with another group instead of ruining your group’s name.
