Hunger 2008 LiMiTED DVDRiP XViD-HLS

I first saw the trailer for this movie quite a while ago and it looked pretty interesting, so im definitely gonna give this a go. Hunger is a movie about the 1981 Irish hunger strike which is written and directed by Enda Walsh and Steve McQueen. Enjoy :)

McQueen brings a visceral intensity to his retelling of the hunger strike instigated by Bobby Sands (Michael Fassbender) and several other detained Irish Republican Army members in the early 1980s, who were determined to live in a Northern Ireland free from British rule. In prison, Sands and other IRA members–including Davey Gillen (Brian Milligan) and Gerry Campbell (Liam McMahon)–at first protest by refusing to wear the standard prison garb, but soon, they take their protest dangerously further.

I'm not here for the flame war.. but this film is pretty awful, not worth watching at all in my opinion, seems to focus on being arty and political rather than having a proper plot-line. One side of my family is English, the other Southern Irish, so don't start!

I agree that it was a futile attempt at change, but it was the only form of control they had left. The control of their own bodies was the only way they could still show where their loyalties lie. It might seem silly or pointless, but I think that at that point they no longer saw themselves as individuals but more a part of a movement.

Some men want to live forever, others just want to live for something.

the thing i find most amusing about the idiot english with their "we won It's just a coincidence that the republic has equal say in belfast business nowadays" is the way that the struggle was funded entirely out of amerika which the english couldn't do anything about apart from their customary whining, then when the amerikans cop one attack and say "lets have a war on terra" the english go "yessir nossir three bags full sir" then send their blokes off to get shot thereby exposing themselves to more terra attacks, even though when the boot was on the other foot so to speak, the amerikans wouldn't give them the heat offa their poop.
    Talk about a55lickers.

Anyone who's saying this is pro-terrorism obviously hasn't watched it. First half of the film is showing how an average protestant prison guard gets shot by the IRA just for doing his job.

We in England look forward to commenting favourably on the films made by al-quaeda sympathisers about the treatment of islamic terrorists at the hands of the US authorities.

The IRA did exactly the same to us in this country as was done in New York on September 11 2001; except a) the IRA was never quite so successful and b) no-one in England was financing Al-quaeda by taking up collections in bars, the way the IRA were funded by Americans. (In excess of $3 million pa according to Tupman, 1998.)

Given that the signs of IRA activity are still visible in England – the Isle of Dogs, Manchester, etc. – most English people think it's a little early to start telling us what a hero Bobby Sands was.

also at 52…. yeah right theres never any trouble now !!

A 300lb car bomb has been found in County Down a device had been left in Castlewellan village, Security forces discovered an abandoned car on Dublin Road on Saturday. Several controlled explosions were carried out on what police called "suspect items".

It is thought the bomb was planted by dissident republicans who were trying to target the Ballykinler army base.

Supt Greg Blain said it was a "large explosive device".
He added that its detonation would have caused "substantial damage and loss of life".
Supt Blain said someone claiming to be a member of a dissident republican organisation had called a local newspaper to warn about the bomb.

They… abandoned it in an area close to local houses and schools, and then phoned through vague warnings about the locality and nature of the threat," he said.

"They placed the lives of every man, woman and child in the area at risk."
