Lead singer of Simply Red, Mick Hucknall has finally given his normal routine of crying about being ginger a rest to record an album featuring the songs by Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland.
Mick Hucknall steps away from Simply Red with his first ever solo album - ‘Tribute To Bobby’, a collection of soul classics originally recorded by the legendary Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland. After an illustrious career with Simply Red, Hucknall decided to do something different, and last June, he emerged from his home recording studio with a brand new album, a tribute to Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland – one of his heroes and inspirations.
Hucknall claims to have been among the people present at the Lesser Free Trade Hall in Manchester in June 1976, where the Sex Pistols were playing. His interest in the music scene led to the launch of his career in the late seventies. As lead singer and core member of Simply Red, he has become the identifiable face of the band. His face, including his long curly red hair, was featured prominently on album artwork and in videos.

Really, I like that rlslog is trying to broaden it’s coverage of released material. You do movies, games and TV release coverage incredibly well (that’s how the site came to be our #1 source for scene release news), but the terrible selections for music postings are getting a bit annoying now.

Simply Red’s “Stars” album in the early 90’s was fairly pleasant. Since then Hucknall has constantly released bland crap.
If you’re over 40 then this release may interest you.
If you’re younger than that and have some taste, give it a miss…..
