Frankly, the only time a U.K. show has been worse than its U.S. equivalent was comparing the U.S. “Big Bang Theory” to the U.K.’s terrible (slightly worse than “Are You Being Served”) sitcom “Lab Rats”. “Coupling” was better than “Friends” and only loses out in the “sheer volume of episodes” department (and the U.S. attempt at “Coupling” was hideous). “The Office” and “The Office” are fairly equal but, again, the U.K. came up with the idea first.

It’s gotten to the point where I need a heads-up, like you did here with “How Not To Live Your Life”, for a *U.S.* show which is actually *good*. The U.K. rarely lets me down when it comes to their shows being good, well-written programming (yes, episode one of “Lab Rats” is a half hour of wasted time I will never get back).

I, too, find the “British accent” concept somewhat funny as well, after the “Spike accent” concept on “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”. U.K.-native Anthony Head, “Giles” on Buffy (for those under rocks for the past 12 years), was unable to figure out from what part of the U.K. “Spike” got his accent, his best guess being “Lower Watford”.

Speaking as a Central Midwestern U.S. resident (call centers love us because we have, essentially, no accent whatsoever), y’all sound weird, but us mild-mannered Midwestern U.S. residents won’t get our collective panties in a bunch over it.

And as has been pointed out, there is no ‘British’ accent, unless your referring to the ‘Queens English’ fake accent that no-one in the UK actually speaks.
In fact its only used because its what the rest of the world expects, using a regional accent for example would confuse us with Australians, lol.

That’s funny, because I can pick up the differences (especially the caricatured ones), but am not familiar enough to figure what each one means. Must be like making fun of “the” American accent. Which one would that be? I’m from the north and sound more Canadian than Texan,eh? And if you can’t tell someone from Philly from someone from California, you just aren’t trying.
