It’s interesting to find such a little gem in the vast sea of crappy STV releases. Housewife 49 is a critically acclaimed war story taking place during the World War 2. This movie won 2 prizes (Best actress Victoria Wood and Best single drama) at British BAFTA Awards and was also nominated for Emmy. Although it’s certainly not for everyone, it’s way better than all other cheap horrors which were released by DOMiNO lately. 2 channel AC3 audio together with common video quality on 1 CD.

As the world fights for freedom in WWII, one woman struggles to liberate herself. Soon after England declared war on Germany in 1939, Lancashire housewife Nella Last began writing a diary as part of a public project. She was 49 and fearful that she wouldn’t be able to cope with her son’s enlistment and life alone with her domineering husband. This award-winning drama not only recounts her experience of wartime privations, but also her dawning sense of independence. Amid the hardships of food rations and air raids, Nella’s volunteer work for the war effort fills her with an exhilarating sense of purpose.

    Anyway, this is an excellent film for anybody that is able to see further than gratuitous sex or blood and guts in a movie.

    hey guys do yourself a favor and stop the STV releases they are garbage well most of them are anyway it’s a waste of time and effort to release these siht movies i would rather eat my own siht then watch these cnut sucking movies i mean come on who throws a shoe. there just no good there a waste of band width a waste of human life a waste of good binary code’ just a fcuking waste

    I have actually seen this, I bored so I decided to watch it, think it was on ABC or SBS. I thought it was alright, good drama. I kinda imagine it as like atonement but from the point of view of the mother/wife.
    Wait I seriously forget this but i think it drag on thought it was like a long BBC episode.
    I remember one scene when she walks over all the ruble for a bombing raid to chack on her club chairman, after getting instruction, she goes bcak to the club and relays the message and a jealous member questions that the instructions really came from the chairman and goes …
    I will stop. I found this though…

    This actually looks quite good, anyone with a modicum of intelligence can see past the fact this is not a hollywood block buster and see it for what it is – a good story with decent acting (for a change) You may even learn something about the mass observation archive which is our best insight into life during and after WWII for the average British person. Good on you rlslog for posting a release of this caliber…oh, and for all your other r’tards – I may even get a blow job of my missus for downloading her this movie :)

    Pure British propaganda, helping out with the war gives you an “exhilarating sense of purpose” WTF!?

    In the UK there posters everywhere trying to seduce the kids to get some REAL excitement, not mentioning that they will be killing other kids and their Moms with their exhilarating sense of purpose.
