I really love History Channel documentaries – they are so good they usually get the attention of people who even don’t really care about the history. The latest release pred by group SomeTV 2 minutes ago is called The Family That Defied Hitler and it tells the story of Jewish family which survived genocide. Very interesting watch.
In 1939 there were more than three million Jews in Poland. Just two families are known to have survived the Holocaust intact. This is the story of one of them, a husband, his wife and their two little girls. First of all. I am a German and don’t think the Holocaust isn’t real. Everyone who thinks so, should Visit the Buchenwald Camp and take a look at our History. It is a shame that some People think like that. Be Aware of Opininons like that.

I visit a concentration camp in Belgium Breendonk, were mostly activists against the German were prisoned and it’s very scary atmosphere entering those folter champers, sleeping chambers and execution place…

The Russians killed more people than the Germans, and the Japanese killed even more than the Russians. The Russians also raped between 100,000 and 1,000,000 women when they entered Germany. What germany did to the jews was pretty bad but really nothing compared to the killings that those two countries committed.

Yeah, the Russians were soooo bad…..that’s why they had mercy on the Germans and killings were carried out in revenge at local level, not systematic like the Germans did. That’s why all up there were 6 million dead Germans, about 4 million killed by Russians, when the Germans killed 20-30 million Russians.
The sad thing about films like this is that in the constant production of holocaust “miracle” stories, coupled with documentaries about Auschwitz and other “death camps”, there is a real danger of blinding people to other atrocities and genocides.
How many on this forum have heard the word “Holodomor” or know that in the early 30’s more than 7 million Ukrainians were deliberately starved to death by Stalin (who boasted of “ten million” dead) through forced agricultural “Collectivization”? People were reduced to eating thistles, rats and dogs, even resorting to necro-cannibalism (Authorities issued notices that the eating of dead relatives was “forbidden” and “barbaric”) and shot for keeping grain to themselves.
Yet how many documentaries are there about this? How often is brutality of the NKVD political officers portrayed in films? I’d like to see this, the Ukrainian “Black Famine”, together with the Armenian Genocide and the Bleiburg and Crimean Massacres (ad infinitum) treated with equal gravity.

I agree with #29 Skyline, comments should be blocked on this. There is no need for people to argue over this, any person with a brain knows the Holocaust happened. I visited the Auschwitz camp several years ago on a trip to Poland and it is a crying shame what happened to those people in the photo frames hanging in all the buildings there.

I live in Oswiecim (which is Polish name of Auschwitz) and let me tell you – those who doesn’t believe in Holocaust are ignorant: You don’t need to travel along barbed wire of The Auschwitz Museum every day on your way to school to know it was real. Just come here once, just once and see the evidence, talk with survives who still live here. My (catholic) family died here and I take personal offense when I read nonsense of Holocaust not taking place. So many died here: Jews, Catholics, Atheists, Polish, Romany… so many! It leaves me speechless – those who choose to be ignorant.

Hasn’t Poland lost 2/3’s of it’s territory since approx 1500. If was Woodrow Wilson who brokered the Fourteen Points deal after WWI so you could keep your country. We should have let the Russians have you! That still wouldn’t have saved Poland from the Nazi’s. Just remember, it was your good neighbors and allies who bailed in your country’s desperate hour of need. The US never did anything but help keep Poland on a topographical map.
