High Contrast - Tough Guys Dont Dance (2007)

We have something new here on Rlslog. It’s a Drum ‘n Bass album. We never posted such an album before, because we didn’t know if you guys would like it. But we give it a shot now, so I hope we have a lot of readers that love it! For the people who like this genre, it’s a damn great album!

The incredible third album from Hospital’s original DnB prodigy. A lot has changed since High Contrast’s debut “True Colours” dropped in 2002 and injected a new lease of life to the DnB scene. Artists have come and gone since then, and a whole host of new producers influenced by the High Contrast sound have come through the ranks. In 2004 he proved that he was still at the top of his game with his second long player “High Society” - another collection of anthems including the massive “Racing Green” and “Basement Track” and now he’s back to raise the bar once again, and take his sound to new heights.

The new album “Tough Guys Don’t Dance” is released on the 1st of October 2007. The D&B producer who people that don’t even like D&B will listen to, since “High Society” High Contrast has found himself the remixer of choice for the likes of Missy Elliot, The White Stripes, Blaze and Basement Jaxx. Each of these incredible versions finding favour with Radio One – with even daytime DJs unable to stay away.

never tried this genre will fancy it though but try not turn rlslog into a techno dance album site coz they do have a tendency of coming with a new mixtape or collection every day i.e

    VA - @#$
ministry fo sound -@#$$ etc etc

  41. October 21st, 2007 | 20:04

    @indianpunk

We won’t. Maybe I post an album of this genre every week (did someone say: sunday drum ‘n bass day?). But don’t worry, we are not gonna post this every day :)

Nice initiative, hope we’ll see more of less known genres, cuz isn’t that what makes bittorrent so great?

Hello all, Don’t take me wrong i love D&B however there is 2 types of D&B. One is very dark and club based sort of D&B and there is the one wich is what this album is light and easy to listen to. I loved this D&B CD. The group is brilliant and thank to rlslog i found them. I would never ever known about this otherwise.

What a great album and a great response in the comments, could we have more of this please. Would love to hear some of these tunes on a club sound system. REEEEEEEEWWWWWIIIIINNNNNNDDDDD!

    October 23rd, 2007 | 17:35

@ 54. It’s not a “group”, High Contrast is ONE guy from Wales.

Also there are not just 2 types of D&B. D&B incorporates many genres. Some sub genres of D&B include:

    Darkstep (or “Darkside” or “Dark”)
    Drumfunk (or “Choppage”, “Edits”)
    Dubstep
    Electrostep (or “Trancestep”)
    Futurestep
    Hardstep
    Intelligent (or “Atmospheric” or “Ambient”)
    Jazzstep (or “Jazz and Bass”)
    Jump-Up
    Jungle or Ragga Jungle
    Liquid funk (or simply “Liquid”)
    Neurofunk (or “Neuro”)
Sambass (or “Brazilian Drum and Bass”)
    Techstep (or “Tech”)
