Hidden Desktop v1.1.189 Incl KeyMaker-DVT

Group DVT adds another new release on their list: a tiny application Hidden Desktop in a new version 1.1.189, pred 10 minutes ago. This software will enable you to switch between usual and “hidden” desktop, so noone will see what exactly do you do in case you have to leave your computer for some reason. I can’t really think of any meaningful use of this application, but may be you will want to check it…

Everything you do on your PC with Hidden Desktop is completely and securely hidden with no visible traces. Perfect for PCs that are shared with others, Laptops that have sensitive information (which may be stolen), and for those who require extreme privacy from hackers, or intruders of any kind. Hidden Desktop creates a new private, hidden desktop where you can install your favorite apps, create and save documents, pictures, and browse the internet. All files, data and activity is completely hidden and secure nobody will know it exists, nor will they be able to access it.

Application features:

  • No need to manage cookies or browsing history
  • Keep your existing Desktop for non-private work
  • Secure and Hide all your files, videos, and pictures
  • All activity is hidden with no traces
  • Panic hotkey to quickly log off and revert back to public desktop
  • Works with nearly all browsers, chat, and email programs
  • Save and Store unlimited files and folders
  • Even hides itself if you walk away from your computer!

but seriously, why would anyone want this and is it REALLY secret???

If all it does is keep your login name off the start screen, it’s useless. Anybody who wants to break into somebody’s Windows machine locally would use a live cd, which would show the directory structure intact. I can’t see how this would be useful at all.

It is useful for the comp noobs that don’t know how to use safemode.

I’m pretty sure SOMEONE will be all over this like 3 year old kitten on ’shrooms because it’s going to hide all their dubious problems as well as a carpet.

Read the other features…don’t just look at the 2 first pics you see…

This program is for those who wish to do other things on their computer while being to hide it all away quickly (at work for example)

“Panic hotkey to quickly log off and revert back to public desktop”

Come on! This is a program meant for windows, I just hope you have 20 minutes to realize he is coming. I guess you could run around, and like they say, have secret account on cafe and library computers… oh wait, you would need admin access first.

there’s maybe three real reasons you would want this:

    1. don’t want your girlfriend to see your porno browsing and links or hot-chick-windows-background (some girls are funny about this… but they should loosen up!)

    2. don’t want your employer (smaller organisation, de-centralised I.T. support, no SOE) knowing what you’re up to/how you have your machine setup

    3. you’re christian or have hard-as-fvck parents who think it’s better for you not to look at nudie ladies and would prefer you become a stunted, premature ejaculating weirdo once you hit 18, instead.

let’s face it, there’s a market for all these rubbish security products and some of them make sense in the real world, for dumb people.

Congratulations. You’ve won the award for the most stupid comment!
Not sure how you managed to make the connection to American propaganda against Islam. Kinda confused..

“Hidden Desktop creates a new private, hidden desktop where you can install your favorite apps, create and save documents, pictures, and browse the internet” … for kiddie porn, that you can easily hide from others, if you really really wan to.

    :D Sorry, couldn´t help myself.

Pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL will bring up the standard logon screen rather than the welcome screen so anyone could log on from there.
That’s what I do on peoples PC where I dont want to confuse them, I hide the admin account using a tweak program such as Tuneup Utils and then if I need to log in, just press CTRL+ALT+DEL and enter the username/password.

sh!t, i honestly dont see the purpose of this program. there are tons of ways to get into a hidden account, I.E -> SAFEMODE. and for every program like this one, there is another program to reveal things like this.

Hmm… it’s obvious that this will keep… maybe your grandma out of your porn collection and no one else. One thing that is important here though is that it does not attract attention to itself. I mean, I have a truecrypt partition on a usb drive, and I sure as hell did not name it Bank.Pin.Numbers.tc. For casual use, it alleviates the SUSPICION that you are doing something else, which could be useful on its own.

Why do I keep hearing people talk about Safe Mode like it is some magical mode that can open otherwise inaccessible accounts in Windows. Its just starting the operating system with minimal drivers. There is nothing that you can do in Safe Mode that an administrative account under normal conditions wouldnt be able to do.

I would hope that this application would be doing a little more than simply hiding the logon from the Windows Welcome screen. I would hope that even using Admin credentials you wouldnt see the account in documents and settings as it looks like its creating some kind of user sandbox that gets wiped when the session is ended.

Yep its a dumb concept, but lets stop banging on about all this Safe Mode nonsense.

In the run prompt type compmgmt.msc
Select local users and grops there you have your hidden account
You can reset the password (admin login required)

even under C:\Documents and Settings you will be able to see the folder of the hidden user

    IMO I CALL IT CRAPWARE/POS

    USE FOLDER LOCK INSTEAD

Why not just use Windows + L to lock? It’s much easier…
I am very secretive when it comes to whatever I do on the computer, be it typing emails and etc, but usually I just use Windows + L, easy and they can’t login to my computer unless they know my password…
