After a cheerful wedding celebration, young bride Chand (Preity Zinta) arrives in Toronto and meets her new husband, Rocky (Vansh Bhardwaj). But soon, she discovers his violent nature and the disturbingly dysfunctional tone of his family.

When Chand arrives in Brampton, Ontario to meet her new husband, she leaves behind a loving family and supportive community. Now, in a new country, she finds herself living in a modest suburban home with seven other people and two part-time tenants. Inside the home, she is at the mercy of her husband’s temper, and her mother-in-law’s controlling behavior. After a magic root fails to transform her husband into a kind and loving man, Chand takes refuge in a familiar Indian folk tale featuring a King Cobra

    This is as good as Ball-e-Wood can go, when it really tries hard. Movie is OK. Kind of reminds you of the plot of "Provoked" starring Aisharwa Rai.

    My rating 6.5/10.

    Too bad it will be a flop for sure in BO because it is not what Indians call a typical masala movie. And this is actually not a ball-e-wood project. Kind of a half breed one like other projects of Deepa Mehta. Otherwise we all know what this would have turned into… ;)

    Agree on @7

    Bollywood industry really made an impact in Asia. Most of it, love and hate which everybody can predict how the movie goes without even seeing it.

    So when this project's out, I hope its different from the usual crappy.

    Usual Ball-e
    1.Love story
    2.Poor single mother with kids falling in love with rich family.
    3.Rich family don't like poor family.
    4.Corrupt cops A.K.A Bad guy.
    5.Stars that can take on the world.
    6.Usual suspect.
    7.Happy ending.

    There is ofcoz different kind of movies, which is good eg;Slumdog Millionaire. But most of it with stories with the above "spec". =.=

    No idea why someone who stays in Canada is continually making movies about Indian people. Why doesn't she shift back to India then? Typical of non-resident Indians, loving India more than the country they reside in.
