Heath Ledger A Tribute 2008 DVDRip XviD-aAF

Heath Ledger was one of the most charismatic actors of his generation. After establishing a high-profile Hollywood career at the age of 21 with the lead in “A Knight’s Tale,” Ledger pursued a series of increasingly diverse, often subversive roles that belied his image as a teen idol. His sudden death rocked the film industry and threw a poignant shadow over the body of work that has now become his legacy. This documentary explores that legacy as well as his relationships with his leading ladies.

Tragically, on January 22, 2008, another name was addedto the list of movie stars who have passed away beforereaching their thirtieth birthdays. His name was Heathcliff Andrew Ledger. The old saying that ‘theflame that burns twice as bright burns twice as fast’ is perhaps twice as true in Hollywood. The world ofshow business is full of shining stars who have briefly illuminated the stage and screen before leaving us toosoon. The names of actors like James Dean, River Phoenix and musicians such as Kurt Cobain and JeffBuckley have passed into mythology – their talent an dbeauty immortalized in the music and movies they left behind.

Ledger moved to the United States in 1998 to develop his movie career. His work includes nineteen films, most notably 10 Things I Hate About You (1999), The Patriot (2000), Monster’s Ball (2000), A Knight’s Tale (2001), Brokeback Mountain (2005), and The Dark Knight (2008). In addition to his acting, he produced and directed music videos and aspired to be a film director.

    His acting in The Order/Sin Eater was awsome! Only Edward Norton can act as good as he did. But if they make a movie on his life, Mark Whalberg should get Heath's role.

    @8 Neo
    Kurt Cobain called Heath as he wanted him to direct his next music video. Heath was on the way for their meeting and stopped at the Olsen tween's flat where he was treated with the only food supplement they eat these days (some powdery stuff) to stay thin. Heath liked the taste and overdo(s/p)ed hoping for instant result, soon he felt he was really weightless…

    A few years ago I watched "A Knights Tale" and although there were mixed reviews I absolutely loved it. Heath was amazing, both funny and focused on his work. I said to myself then "We have a new star born".
    In the summer of 2008 I watched "The Dark Knight" and saw how far this talented young man have reached. It's a damn shame that he won't be experiencing anything new from him anymore but his old works will stay forever.
    R.I.P Heath

    PS: I do hope he gets that Oscar but for the right reasons

    It's funny how somebody who just died goes from "mediocre/good" to "best there ever was"…

    He was a good actor, but not THAT good. There are many actors who are way better than Ledger, but of course they don't get the sympathy because they aren't dead (yet)…

    February 19th, 2009 | 21:54

    Heath only really acted well in Brokeback Mountain and also did a very good villain in Dark Knight, but hardly anything that other good actors couldn't do. Like 'QuadrupelQ' says, it's him dying that all of a sudden makes him into a legend. It was a shame, as he seemed to finally be getting to be a good actor, but let's not go crazy as I know countless people that have died that were a genuine loss to humanity, more so than someone that pretends to be someone else for entertainment.

    I'm sorry, but he deserves an oscar. Not because he died, but because he did a fantastic job in the Dark Knight. I don't know a lot of actors who could have done a better job. Also, it is very sad that he died when he played (at that time) one of his best role ever. There is still one movie that will come out soon with his last performance (The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus).

    Ledger has done a fair job of his career, with some glaring lows, as well as a couple of celebrated and deserved highs.
    He did do a good job in Dark Knight – and from a fairly average crop of Supporting Actor performances from equally average movies, his is probably the most deserving performance to win the Oscar for that this year.
    I do agree with several observances, however, that Ledger never quite reached the class of genuinely talented A level actors, like Edward Norton Jr or Robert Downey Jr.
    Downey was about as far down as you can get, and went through hell before he kicked his habit, and is thankfully now giving what his immense talent has always shown was possible.
    Downey's performance in Chaplin, and Norton's performance in Primal Fear were two of the best by young actors I have ever seen, and that includes anything by Ledger, by quite a margin. It would be a shame if empathy for Ledgers situation and demise were allowed to overshadow more talented performances, and was allowed to deify or martyr Ledger as an immortal – which he certainly is not – over that of other seriously and more talented performers such as those mentioned above.

    Who gives a shiz if he aint an A list celeb, who gives a shiz if he aint had the best roles to perform… He was an excellen villian in the dark knight which was one of the best movies last year, for that he should be recognised with an oscar!

    Had a few great movies, was fantastic in Brokeback, Dark Knight and Candy , but has been overhyped due to his death. Yes , he looked liek he was turning into one of the best actors of his generation, but he was hardly there yet.

    And I ain't trolling, I don't think he deserves the best supporting actor oscar: he Definately deserves a nomination at least, but for me Aaron Eckharts protrayal of Harvey Dent was just heartbreaking, and was the true core of the Dark Knight. Its shameful he has not gotten any reconisition at all for his role. But still, out of the rest of the pick of nominees, Ledger was the stand out and will win[rightfully in that aspect] on Sunday.

    I think Ledger getting an Oscar would be a joke and he would only receive it BECAUSE he had "taken his own life". Dark Knight was good, and he made the part his own, but Oscar worthy? I don't think so. The over glorifying of his untimely demise only goes to show the lengths Hollywood will go to cover up the truth about a tragically disturbed young man, and this testament to his lacklustre career is nothing short of a joke.

    Any loss of life is tragic, and my condolences go out to his friends and family, but this whole parade of accolades, tributes and sudden influx of good will towards his past performances is pathetic.

    My 2 cents. I'm prepared for the backlash but I've presented my case with a little more restraint that I normally would.

    This is not what the world should have been waiting for. Yes he was human, but what would anyone want to celebrate and honor someone without mentioning his problems that he obviously had with drugs, etc. Money used for this could be used for his family or some bank bailout!

    Are you guys on dope or something?

    Heath's Joker will be used as yardstick for years to come to compare the performance of villains in movies based on graphic novels. After Jack Nickleson did it amazingly in Tim Burton's BatMan, Heath raised it to a new level to show everyone how it has to be done. And IMO that deserves an Oscar whether he is dead or still doping on younger Olsen's bed.

    So he deserves the Oscar for that, and nothing else. Aaron Eckhart was also good but i think that a lot of actors could play Harvey Dent.

    I wasn't impressed with his version of the joker. its was okay but not all that. I don't have sympathy for people just because they are dead. I am sorry for him but he had a great life , I know a 17 year old who is in a hospice at the moment .And he isn't gonna have a mio of people mourning him.

    Also most people out there had no freakin' clue who that dude was he is my age but most folk our age won't remember him.

    @61, Johnny,

    You hit the nail on the head. He was a good actor and all, but his performance in The Dark Knight wasn't as spectacular as everyone was making it out to be. Was just the matter of timing…had he been alive during the film's release I'm positive he wouldn't have received so much publicity about how he is the best actor to ever walk the Earth as many people were saying. That being said, sure, he was a good actor, and he played the part of The Joker well, but do I think he outdid Jack Nicholson…no…and do I think he was the best actor/actress in TDK. Not really, no…I actually thought Bale, Eckhart, and Oldman did equally as well, if some of them not better. It was great acting all around, but he wasn't in the spotlight or anything…I mean, he didn't "steal the show" as some people like to think.

    Ledger was an OK actor, but know he's dead everyone thinks he's the dogs! I dont get it. His performance in Dark Knight is alright, but Oscar material, I think not. Its a shame he's dead, but lets stop putting him on a pedestal because he's dead.
