I had a better time watching this flick than Hostel 2. This movie is a homage to 80’s slashers, hence the music and so forth. The “survivor chick” in this film is hot and has the worst Cajun accent every. I thought I was watching Val Kilmer in The Ghost and the Darkness. She says two words, 2, that might suggest she is from Louisiana. That’s it. Even the actors in Hard Target got that part right. Like I said though, she’s hot so who cares. That was the only reason I watched Dark Angel when it was on television and she kept me interested in this flick as well.
Creative kills and a better ending than most horror flicks these PG-13 days. It was bloody and ambiguous.
All in all though, I’ll stick with the workprint of Halloween.

Let’s get the Bullshit out of the way first. This film was intended to be nothing more than a tribute to those braindead 80s American slasher flicks. As a tribute it succeeds quite well. Fast pacing,deformed killer,gory kills,hot chicks,tits,hot chicks.
What it is not, is some sort of self referrential piece of tripe pretending to be more sophisticated than it is. Unfortunately the drawback to that is it ends up being interchangable from the films it pays tribute to, without any insight or originality of it’s own. In other words typical superficial throw away ADD horror for the DTV market. No subtext, no connection to any of the characters,… nothing.
So long as the viewer knows full well what he’s getting into it’s an okay entertaining B flick. But it’s NOT this second coming of the fucking great American horror film that FAR TOO MANY douchebags would like you to believe is true.
If you guys want to see a really good American horror film see Behind The Mask: The Rise Of Leslie Vernon.

It’s 2007 and the effects in this movie are worse, than in movies that came out in the 80’s. The main character looks
like a backward bucket of vomit, and he can’t act.
The black dude and the girl, are the best actors in this flick and they save portions of the movie.
The storyline could have actually been written by a 12 year old,and the actors could have been casted by 9 year olds.
If you like this flick and you think it’s a quality release(I’m not talking about the rip, but about the actual movie)
Then you should consider cutting your eyes out, and burning your eardrums, because you don’t know shit about quality movies.

This movie was indeed poorly executed. The killer had SO MUCH potential, but they should have kept him in the dark more, and less humor in the film . The score was week as hell, and could have been darker and scarier. The director made a good effort, but I was not impressed. I came across this website of a HORROR feature film being produced in Raleigh, NC titled MENTAL SCARS. Robert Englund who plays Freddy is actually on this site under CELEBRITY FRIENDS.
