IGN: 9.5 Gamespot: 9.5 gametrailes even has trailers showing ads to pre-order the game.. you all have to admit it, M$ is doing a great job on publicity... about halo, i never played any of them, but i have UT2k4 and CS:S which are similar in some sorta way (specially UT) and i like them, but for GOD sake they are multiplayer fps, no really good story, just some weapons and a lot of people to kill online, it's fun for a while, probably more if you have some friends playing with you, but NOT A 9.8!!!
