Halloween 1978 EXTENDED EDITION DVDRip XviD-FiCO

FiCO brings us the Extended Version of Halloween, the original horror film from 1978. A remake was released this year with the same name. Once it was Halloween yesterday I think it’s a nice gift by the group by releasing this. I’m one the people who have never seen this but I would really like to watch it once I have heard so much about this movie. A good opportunity for those who have missed it before and for the one who want to watch it again before watching the new one. Enjoy!

On Halloween 1963, the small town of Haddonfield is shocked when six-year-old Michael Myers returns from trick-or-treating and for some unknown reason stabs his older sister to death with a big kitchen knife and is found by his parents staring into space with the bloody knife in his hand. Sent to a mental institution, Michael spends the next 15 years just sitting, still staring into space despite the best efforts of his Doctor, Dr. Samuel Loomis.

Now, on October 30th 1978, something triggers Michael off and during a storm manages to steal a car from Dr. Loomis and Nurse Marion (who was coming to take Michael to a court to keep him locked up) and goes back to Haddonfield where he steals a white mask. There, Laurie Stode, Micheal’s younger sister, finds that Michael is stalking her during the day (at school, at her home etc - but she doesn’t know who he is.) As Dr. Loomis arrives and with the Sheriff frantically looks for Michael he doesn’t know that Laurie is baby-sitting Lindsey and Tommy and that Laurie’s friends Annie, Lynda and Bob are disappearing one by one…

..yeah i feel your pain when it comes to the audio, but this movie was only ever mono anyways, and this is a TV Extended edition that John Carpenter put together when the TV networks wanted him to cut Halloween to air on tv, so he filmed extra scenes durning the shooting of Halloween II to insert into this version.

…but 64kbit is odd, and i hate to see a decent group like FiCO giving us something with audio quality on par with aXXo.

according to IMDB, this extended version is less violent!!

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077651/alternateversions

    for examples:

The network version replaces 12 minutes of violent footage with less gory scenes. These scenes were shot simultaneously with “Halloween II” in 1981, and can be found in the LaserDisc version of the original film.

The television network-version (aka. Extended-Version) has a different climax: when ‘Dr. Loomis’ shoots ‘Michael Myers’ in the end, you can only hear the gun- shots from outside the house, while in the theatrical-version you can see how he shoots him.

I rather have the original version!!

…yeah johndoes is right, this version is “sanitised” although the original version wasnt THAT violent really…

……there was hardly any blood anyway, and a whole 1m 20secs of those 12mins is to delete the scene of PJ Soles`s tits.

..at least Carpenter got to re-cut his own work and it wasnt given to some utter tool to do a scissor job on…

This one looks like the original theatrical version… http://www.mininova.org/tor/438715
Mentions AC3 5.1 “sound quality”, but since it’s a single CD version, we have to assume that it’s a stereo rip. If anyone has any info on the quality of this one, please advise.

Further to comment 9… the version here … http://www.mininova.org/tor/438715 … is the theatrical release.
    Duration: 1hr31mn07sec
    Video: 704×394, 23.976 fps, 984 kbps
    Audio: 80 kbps stereo
Why the ripper didn’t up the audio to 128 kbps is a mystery. Well, at least it’s a bit better than 68 kbps.
