UNLEASHED continue this wonderful night of game releases with a cracked copy of Half Life 2 Episode 2. No need for me to go into description of this series since I’m sure all of you have heard about it. This release might take you a while to download since it comes in at 4.32 GB. If you’ve been waiting for this game as long as I have I’m sure you can’t wait to play this. Download and Enjoy :) (Can’t wait for Team Fortress 2 ;) )

    Hi guys, after few days trying it to fix the game I wait for more post, finaly i make it work,
    1. unpack starting with rar extension
    2. change the name of steam.ini in steamemu.ini
    3. create shortcut with next target:”D:\Torent\Half Life 2 Episode\half-life 2 episode two\hl2.exe” -steam -game ep2
    4. enjoy the game its realy nice

    i download a version from my russian friends not unleaseds.but i have that mount error problem to but im trying to change target but the hl2.exe didnt like it so im still trying to type in it correctly.

    About the MountApp crap: when i first unrared the game i started from .r00 and it worked just fine. The catch is NOT to delete the .gfc files. Leave them next to the game directory.

    If only i noticed it sooner, already got orange box iso 1&2, could you point me a way to successfully install a hl2 & Ep2 plZ if any indeed. Thx you

    PS : i’m absolutly no noob, kinda really used to that stuff but steam related stuff is big ?? to me ( i waited for Ep2 to even do HL2 so…. ) So no need to make a full How To, just drop me quick instruction plz

    1gb of ram
    64(maybe)mb INTEGRATED graphics
    the only decent thing is the RAM, and i guess 1.83ghz is ok for gaming, but not awesome.

    oh, and i keep (read: repeatedly) get an error: “the instruction at “0×13c28f3f” referenced memory at “0×0e28f3c0″. the memory could not be “read”.”
    click ok to terminate the program.

    and that’s it. it quits. any ideas why?
    and another i keep getting is like “0×0eeef3c0″ for the second
    and “0×14828f3f” for the first.

    I have applied all both the Unleash fix and Vialuk fix. HL2EP2 runs, it shows the Valve intro, then the Source intro, then it goes to the ‘loading…’ screen. But this is when HL2 crashes. It gives me this error:
    Instruction at 0×13ca8f3f referenced memory at 0×0e3cf3c0 memory could not be read.

    Help?

    Hey, i finally got this to work… after the longest time

    But now im playing, and ive played for about 2-3 hours now.. this game KICKS ASS!

    Anyway im right at the part where u get the thing with the alien dude (Im so technical) and then you come up and the other aliens tell you that they need a human to heal alyx, so when i step beside him and he starts to heal her, the game gets REALLY choppy and the sound gets all messed up..

    Anyone else get this issue, and any way to fix it?

    i just closed down steam (in systemtray) en then changed the shortcut to “F:\games\Half.Life.2.Episode.Two-Unleashed\unl-ep2\half-life 2 episode two\hl2.exe” -steam -game ep2
    sow you don’t have to remove steam i hope this can help

    I’ve got the UNLEASHED release…
    My problem is I can start the game just fine – I have renamed the link and everything but:

    When I press new game in the menu the chapter selector pops up, but I cannot select anything. I can’t start a new game! I’m really lost for ideas, anybody got a clue how to fix this??

    Hi, I just downloaded and installed this game. Everything seems to work except for some reason I am getting only 10 fps. I use higher settings in my copy of HL2 and i get almost double fps on this laptop.

    Is episode two a much more graphics intense game that my GeForceGo 6150 can’t handle it anymore even at low settings or is something wrong with my download?

    when is start half life there is the part after the valve movie and then it is starting to load and then it stops and jumps out and it writes that i don’t have a high enough direct x verison

    SOLUTION!!

    Mountappfilesystem errors usually done by a lost GFC file.
    You should have 13 .gfc files, which are the following :

    episode 1 shared.gcf
    episode two content.gcf
    episode two maps.gcf
    episode two materials.gcf
    episodic 2007 shared.gcf
    half-life 2 episode two english.gcf
    source 2007 binaries.gcf
    source 2007 shared materials.gcf
    source 2007 shared models.gcf
    source 2007 shared sounds.gcf
    source materials.gcf
    source models.gcf
    source sounds.gcf

    If you don’t have, try to unpack the rars with winrar by selecting all rar files and than click “unpack”.
    Don’t use Total commander’s inbuilt unpacker, it was a problem for me!
    If it’s done, place a shortcut with the additional texts mentioned above.

    Ok, well you need PORTAL aswell for this to work. Portal was the first game, then episode 2. episode 2 wont work without portal since portal contains some of the GCF’s required for episode 2 to work. Hence the orange box, it wern’t going to be seperate content. It’s all linked.

    THIS WORKED! Basically there were 2-3 .gcf files that were missing for some reason and I had to manually extract from the unl-ep2.rar file. I didn’t mess with editing the SteamEmu.ini file Thanks Soni!

    Hi Guys, great release seriously !!
    Everyones who do not understand how to start the game should read a bit more RATHER THAN POSTING 237 POST which 85% is,, boo booo… crying my game does not work…

    OK BACK ON MY TOPIC:
    I’ve noticed a serious missing in HL2Ep2, reflection ?? or Specular mapping, a good exemple would be “Dog” in episode one, shining metal with a nice glow… EP2 none ?? + many other place too.

    SECOND :
    Texture, is it normal that the game always set back MEDIUM textures ? not to mention that VERY HIGH seem to lack it’s Very high is you get what i mean,

    BUT !! it’s just a question, and i’m telling you Guys that i’m SOOOO PLEASE that you work that hard for the People, and can i suggest you a new line for you NFO ?? i always use that when i receive THANX YOU e-mail from Fans ( i’m heavy on game modding that’s all )

    Working for the People not for Fame, Unleashed. (Suggestion)

    just To Let You Know You dont need portal to play Half-Life 2 Episode-Two I Downloaded Half-Life 2 Episode-Two 1st and
    started playing Game np i started downloading. portal two days later.
    Thay Are Both Two separate games If You Buy The orange box
    Or any of the half games you can choose what games to install
    as you do in steam

    Windows sp2,intel E6700, Asus Sriker Extreme, xfx 7800 gtx.
    Unleashed recent .dll replaced, .bat file added and corrcect path added but still all I get is a restart when trying to start the game.

    nothing to do…
    9 gigs of hard disk for a useful tool for restarting Windows :-( :-( :-(

    Windows Error Reporting tells me that this problem was caused by NVIDIA Graphics Driver…
    I’d updated the driver, but doesn’t work

    no one can help me?

    tried also to unpack with new Winrar 3.71… nothing!

    nVidia user go to http://www.guru3d.com and download Rivatuner 2.05
    READ TOTURIAL CAREFULLY cause there is some risk in Overclockling…. but Rivatuner can switch your Card fan to 100% regardless of temp. so it will lower your inner comp temperature which is 80% what’s causing your hard-reset…

    If you can also boost you CPU % System fan to 100% ( lourd noise i tell you !! ) it will drastictly decrease the chance of Hard-reset

    EX : my GF-7600GT OC is:
    Core clock : 600
    Mem Clock : 833 (256 ddr3)
    Rivatuner : 510mb of ram just for DirectX = 760mb VideoRam
    ( was 530 normally, so i got around 45% more ram for game )
    Temprature at normal Fan : 63c to 85+ LOT OF HARD-RESET !
    Card Fan at 100% = 59c to 79+ *sometime do hard-reset

    all CPU+Sys(rear fan)+Card Fan at 100% = 50c to 72-73c MAX !!
    and i can’t remember the last time my comp hard-reset i even play “Bioshock” 1024×768 everything at high at 25 fps, with few slow down…. trust me GO GRAB RIVATUNER 2.05 !!!

    guys plz, i need help, about the referenced memory at … memory could not be “read”! help plz i started gettin it i didnt get it before.
    1 more thing, when i use 2 play episode 1 and hl2, my settings were set at max, and i have a dx9 card, now in ep2, the setiings r set for dx 8.1, and when i force it 2 9, it lags like hell, wtf? :(

    Installed Riva Tuner…
    Checked “Enable driver-level hardware overclocking”
    (default core clock = 350; Memory clock = 550)
    Set Core clock = 420 and memory clock = 640 (maximum with “test OK”
    Set Fan 100% 100% 100%

    nothing :-( it doesn’t work, PC restart after some seconds

    I played HL2 episode 1 *without* *any* *problem* :-/

    Hey guys,

    I have the same problem as # 111 “SAROSH” has described. When I LOOK DOWN in the train, my computer restarts..

    my system is:
    AMD 4800+ X2,
    2G of ram,
    A build in video card : Radeon x1250 (+updated drivers).

    SAROSH, which video card do you have ?
    Does anybody know how to fix the problem ?

    mine gives the error:

    Setup file ‘gameinfo.txt’ doesn’t exist in subdirectory ‘hl2′. check your -game parameter or VCONFIG setting.

    any ideas? i created a shortcut and added -steam -game -ep2 to target.

    and run the game from it.

    Installed ForceWare Release 163.71 and ep2 is working!
    I don’t understand why self searching update of nVidia didn’t find the right version… :confused:

    Another (minor) problem…
    I can’t assign any key to “look up” and “look down”. All right for others movements/weapons, but nada for looking up/down.
    I can look up only with the mouse movements! :(

    Half Life2 – Episode2: AppFilesystem() error

    Looks like there are as many solutions as questions:My experience with RaR files is that you can click on ANY file in the set using ‘Extract Here’ and entire set will extract… I d’loaded two different game rar files from 2 dif souces… both extracted fully (one of them was a rar set within a rar set).

    I believe the problem is two fold;
    1) With respect to our friends who provide the files, the installation instructions don’t cover problems arising from all the various prior installation variables.
    2) I believe where your ‘original’ game is installed and where you install the next episode(s)related files is where the problems lie.
    When comparing my orig 1/2life install and Episode 1 install, Episode 2 install does seem to vary from the pattern.

    I did considerable research and was of the opinion that the SDK (software developement kit) was required from valve/source to properly install all the *.GCF files which didn’t seem to be implemented[mainly because the resources/materials etc which were installed with Episode 1 weren't there in Episode 2]
    However, this isn’t the case.

    I found a successful,if awkward work-around for anybody still having probs w episode2.
    I’ll just cut to the chase and list what I did. May not make sense or work for others but hopefully it will provide some insight to your problems…

    Orig 1/2 LIFE install was to C\GAMES\HALF LIFE 2
    EPISODE1 install was to C\GAMES\HALF LIFE 2\EPISODE 1
    EPISODE2 install was to C\GAMES\HALF LIFE 2\EPISODE 2

    Save file
    next Created a desktop icon from;
    C\GAMES\HALF LIFE 2\EPISODE 2\start.bat
    Renamed shortcut to HALF LIFE EPISODE 2
    Changed shortcut ICON by browsing to and selecting;
    C\GAMES\HALF LIFE 2\EPISODE 2\HL2.exe
    Checked OK and closed option window [saving icon]
    note This eliminates the need to add the HL2.exe game parameters;
    -steam -game ep2
    to the game start Icon properties…

    To be honest, I have only just done this. However, the game starts correctly and I’m played long enough to escape from the train and get the Grav Gun.

    Give it a shot and please let us know how it turns out…..

    Ok, for those who download RIVATUNER plz don’t go mad over overclocking !!! it’s not because it pass the “test” button that it’s ok,

    Play a “working Game” to see if the new clock work fine, if not you’ll quickly notice it, all will go like da,da,da,da,da,da “scratch audio disk” for a few second, this mean the GPU is unstable when heating

    google “rthdribl” which is a little prog for GPU stability test let is run for a while, + check RIVATUNER tutorial for knowing how to monitor your G.Card temperature,

    Heck, game works fine, but the problem in, my PC keps restarting every now and teh in the game, its highly frustrating, dont think its due to hardware overheating cause I installed additional cooling for my cabinet.

    I’ve got the UNLEASHED release…
    My problem is I can start the game just fine – I have renamed the link and everything but:

    When I press new game in the menu the chapter selector pops up, but I cannot select anything. I can’t start a new game! I’m really lost for ideas, anybody got a clue how to fix this??
    Please help!

    “I have applied all both the Unleash fix and Vialuk fix. HL2EP2 runs, it shows the Valve intro, then the Source intro, then it goes to the ‘loading…’ screen. But this is when HL2 crashes. It gives me this error:
    Instruction at 0×13ca8f3f referenced memory at 0×0e3cf3c0 memory could not be read.

    I tried one of the parameter options.. the game loads correctly.. into episode 1 !!! but it’s better than nothing. I’m going through them and will update you if i find a permanent solution

    Ok i finnaly got it working, by moving the Half Life folder from my desktop to Program Files… I played the game till the 5th chapter where i closed my PC thinking i’ll copmlete it later…then after a few hours when i open the game it shows the memory error agian…PLZ I NEED HELP!!!

    Hey again guys. Just want to let you know that i got it working by editing the parameters of the shortcut and and making it hl2.exe -steam -game ep2 -console. That did it for me… Finished the game in hard in one go…Loved it!!!

    I have eissues on Windows 2000 I get a ~ “TraceMessage missing in.dll” error and after initial splash video and a glimps of the main menu I get a blue screen and a reboot. Anybodo had this issue?

    Create shortcut on hl2.exe and add these parameters: -steam -game ep2
    It will look like: X:\somedir\hl2.exe -steam -game ep2
    Right click the shortcut you made, select properties and edit the target box so it reads something like:

    “C:\Half Life 2 Episode Two-Unleashed\Half.Life.2.Episode.Two-Unleashed\unl-ep2\half-life 2 episode two\hl2.exe” -steam -game ep2

    !!!! Obratiti paznju da navodnici budu posle .exe,a ne posle -steam -game ep2 !!!!

    Kopiraj GameInfo.txt iz ep2 foldera u hl2 folder.

    Run the shortcut and have fun ;)

    Windows XP Pro SP2 Error prompt:
    The instruction at “0×241f94f7″ referenced memory at “0×0e54f41c”. The memory could not be “read”.

    From researching the internet, this error is apparently associated with Paged Pool Memory (PPM). It seems like other programs or devices are using too much of the allocated PPM. So you need to either increase the amount of PPM or find and remove / disable the programs or devices using too much of the allocated PPM to play Half-Life 2.

    The easy way that works is to increase the amount of PPM.

    You can manually set the PPM pool size via the Registry [Windows default value is 0 (Hexadecimal)].

    To make the change, use Window’s Regedit.

    1) Start > Run, type in “regedit” (without quotes) and hit enter.
    2) Navigate to this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager\Memory Management
    3) Double click on the “PagedPoolSize” key.
    4) Enter one of these values to set the size:
    192Mb – 0c000000
    256Mb – 10000000 (256Mb fixed PPM for Sam’s XPS ccomputer on 12/28/2007, original hex value was 0)
    384Mb – 18000000
    5) Reboot

    Instead of manually editing the Registry to make PPM change, you can create a simple Registry file (.reg) using the following code.

    Registry code to Set the PagedPoolSize to 256Mb – 10000000 (Example file name: Game_Add_PPM.reg):

    (1) Run the Game_Add_PPM.reg file to set the PPM.
    (2) Reboot
    (3) Play Half-Life 2
    (4) Run the Game_Restore_PPM.reg file to restore the PPM.
    (5) Reboot

    Steps (4) and (5) are optional. I needed to perform Steps (4) and (5) in order to re-enable my Ramdrive.

    It didn’t work for me.. maybe it will work for you.

    Let me make it more clearly…first…
    1) I install this WinRAR
    2) Inside the hl2 ep2 folder there was a unl-ep2.rar, inside that folder “unl-ep2.rar” where there are SteamEmu.ini and hl2.exe.

    THE PROBLEM WAS!!!
    How to create shortcut on hl2.exe and add -steam -game ep2?
    When I try double click the hl2.exe inside unl-ep2.rar, after loading…there was an error say “Setup file ‘gameinfo.txt’ doesn’t exist in subdirectory ‘hl2′. Check your -game parameter or VCONFIG setting” What should I do?

    I had problems adding the -steam -game ep2, like many of you, but I figured it out.

    1. Make the shortcut.
    2. Right-click the shortcut and select properties.
    3. In the box besides Target, add -steam -game ep2 at the end of all the text in the box.

    So the text in the Target box should look like this

    “C:\Half.Life.2.Episode.Two-Unleashed\half-life 2 episode two\hl2.exe” -steam -game ep2

    I am new to this too, but it works.
