Hackers withdraw from Sarkozy’s bank account
It’s emerged thieves have been making fraudulent withdrawals from French president Nicolas Sarkozy’s private bank account. The news was confirmed in the French weekly “Le Journal du Dimanche”, which says Sarkozy’s office has confirmed that the president filed an official complaint last month. The thefts apparently concern sums of less than 200 euros a time. It appears the thieves managed to get hold of Sarkozy’s account details. Such crime is not uncommon – all that is needed are the bank details, name, and expiry date on the credit card in order to make fraudulent transactions over the internet.
Thieves then carry out purchases for relatively small amounts, in the hope that the owner of the card will realise the fraud as late as possible. There was outcry last year when the French parliament decided to award their head of state a 100% payrise. The swindlers may have had access to his £13,243 (approx $26,000) a month salary. Criminal and financial fraud squads and a prosecutor in the Paris suburb of Nanterre were investigating the case.

yeah that’s what i thought too. of course 300k is a lot but considering he’s a president and dozens managers earn many times what he does …
But no manager will get this salary for the rest of his life after 5 years of job…

In France nobody cares if Sarkozy is jew or not. What we care is that he earns too many money (the first law he made was a law to increase the salary of the president of the republic(himself))and he likes to show he’s rich as much as he hates poor people: that’s why we hate him,and we think he desserves what happen to him! (excuse my bad english)

dont bite, there are many attention starved kids here that would pretty much write anything in the hope that someone will talk to them.
I only said that he made less than some surgeons, didn’t say that the amount of work they did were of equal level. One of my dad’s friends, who is a heart surgeon, does alot of good work and he makes around 500k. The reason why he makes that much is because he is really good at what he does.
I doubt he gets paid in British pounds.

Yes, he doubled his official salary, but also tripled the budget of the Elysee (budget with which he is officially entitled to do what he wants with, with no one checking).
Which was much less broadcasted but means a MUCH bigger amount of money.
Oh and considering the amount of cash he gets his (industry leaders) friends to make at the expense of the french government, I wouldnt be surprised if he had some other sources of incomes as well.

OK, 1st of all, $300k/year is pretty standard for the president of a developed country.
2. the guy is actually a workaholic and he does not sit on his .ss all day.
3. having lived in france and in the US for a number of years, I do agree that a lot of changes are needed here. you have no idea how many people abuse unemployment, and other (numerous) aids the french gvt gives to its people (and foreigners, too) such as free healthcare, etc.
4. 26k/mo is not that much money at all. 26k/mo will never bankrupt the country. That’s only EUR20k/mo, which is not that much at all actually considering where he lives and the cost of life in France in general
5. He has other sources of income. Someone in his position has access to a plethora of investment and business opportunities. He would be a fool if his only source of income was his salary. I would think that he makes A LOT more than this.
And I could go on for a while. The guy isn’t all that bad, really. I could name a bunch of worst presidents who are currently in office around the globe.
And no, I did not vote for him.
